Sorry, apparently the message about why IKrystal Klear has been deleted? It said it doesn't exist. I started Atkins the first time when I was 18 (I know, a bit older than 14) and lost 80 pounds, I don't see how being on a way of life that is obviously healthy enough for you to eat the rest of your life could be dangerous compared to being overweight, or more dangerous than a "fad diet" or pills, etc. I do regret not knowing about Atkins when I was younger (though my mum did say that she did a version of Atkins when she was a teenager-highschool). I can't help but think that having a way of life I could get into younger and not try to break even longer bad habits, as well as feeling better about the way I looked would be a good thing.
Unfortunately, so many doctors are still misinformed. They learned the low-fat mantra in med school and don't know any better. There are plenty of studies out there that support low-carbing as healthy.
I figure that a diet rich in wholesome meats, eggs, cheeses, and veggies can't be too bad. Surely the docs don't think you NEED sugar and white flour to be healthy?
I work with a lot of doctors, before starting Atkins initially (in 1999) i consulted with a couple of them, and they said that it was a good idea. Of course, they are not practicing physicians, and speak to me openly about things since I am friends with them...
IKrystal Klear post was about having pancriatitis and needing her gallbladder removed. She is back doing Atkins again and looks great from her pics.
the original poster of this topic did Atkins and lost weight and was a great teacher of Atkins to his misinformed teacher in one of hois later topics
My mother works with doctors, and she spoke with one doctor about the atkins diet when I was doing it the last time, and he said he didn't personally recommend it, that he recommended the south beach diet because it's more nutrients in it, but when doing the atkins diet there were no health risks that he was aware of AS LONG AS YOU TOOK THE VITAMINS....
Well.. I just got out of the hospital because of it. But, I guess things like that can happen considering your body.. i'm 15 by the way.
Sorry Krystal to hear that. For myself I'm done with Atkins it could be dangerious to some people. I would recommend for you a normal 40/40/20 split diet. Keep it up and everyone will end up dead and fat in their 60s from heart disease just like Dr. Atkins.
IMO Atkins diet = terrible, I did it, it sucks, I hated life, dragged ***. 4 u 40/40/20 is the way to go. Every body’s different thought, just my point. Will my bad Atkins was in his mid 80's and died when he slipped on ice and hit his head. Maybe if he had the energy from carbs to stand up he wouldn't have fell haa!

So, you have such a grand knowledge that you'd recommend to someone who's had continued success with Atkins to do a "normal" 40/40/20 split diet, without even having read all of this thread.
That grand knowledge also allows you the future sight of us all having an early death from being fat and having heart disease.
And how cool that you've come up with the solution for no one ever slipping on ice again! Eat more processed high carb foods!
Above all, it's interesting to hear you say you "did" the Atkins program. Somehow that seems to be a stretch.
Many doctors are advocates of making Atkins a lifestyle change; and many more when told the plan without mentioning it by name!
