Missed it last night, we had a Thunderstorm that knocked out our electricity the same time the show was on. Not only that but it fried my DSL modem so I am now on dial-up until AOL replaces it. I may never make it through!!!!! Dial up is sooo SLOW!

I love that show! The results always amaze me. I wish I had a trainer always pushing me and telling me what to eat. I wasn't able to watch it last night but i recorded it to watch this weekend! I also kind of like the Celebrity Fit Club (wow is Willy Ames creepy looking)...

Re: Is anyone watching"the Biggest Loser"?

I am SOOOOO Glad you posted about this...I almost wrote a post last night about it.

I am going to try to use it for inspiration. However, I have to rememebr that these people are in an unusual circumstance, being allowed to work out all day long, with perfectly measured meals. I can't expect to lose 20 lbs, in a week. I can't allow myself to compare my road with theirs. Weare in completely different circumstances.

They also ripped on Atkins a bit. The said "no Carb is a load of bunk" but we all know that we aren't NO CARB. That is stil how the media portrays us.

I Found the whole plane thing interesting. I would have been barfing with the blonde woman.

I actually have to start taping it since I start rehearsals for a show on Sunday, but I will tape Biggest Loser and "So You think You can Dance" for my guilty realty TV pleasures!

Thank God "Tommy Lee Goes to College is Over"...I was enjoying it almost too much.

Love this show... though I have a hard time with the 20 pounds in a week losses. Makes me want to pout.

Re: Is anyone watching"the Biggest Loser"?

I caught it for a little bit the other day... It's a great alternative to the usual quick-fix show, but one thing turned me off majorly:

They said women would be eating 1200-1500 calories/day
              men, 1500-1800

That's absurd. These are substantially overweight people and their bodies need more calories. 1200 calories a day? come on! Is that a reasonable way of eating?

Re: Is anyone watching"the Biggest Loser"?

I didn't catch it but my sister said that they devided the people up into teams, women on 1 team and men on the other. I don't know if this is really fare though, I've heard men lose quicker from Dr. Atkins. So it seems to me that the men's team has an unfair advantage. They should have both men and women on each team.

I only caught the last half hour, 'cause I'm a Gilmore Girls-aholic and had to watch that AND tape it so that I could watch it again later. lol

The last half hour was interesting!!

Re: Is anyone watching"the Biggest Loser"?

Pipping up in here because I watched it.

The main goal is who loses the most weight by percentage wise. I took notes...yes, I'm anal. lol!

Women were 1642 minus 109 gave them a 6.64% loss while the guys were at 2383 pounds minus 157 giving them a 6.59% loss....I love that they are doing this because it makes it a bit farerereer with having men against women....darn men losing weight faster then women. Grrr.

I didn't like the "Farewell Feast"..it was too much of showing off their overeating skills and giving the people more bad thoughts...also adding bulk to the weigh in the next day.

I love "Goal Closet"..I have a few things in my closet I'm itching to get in to.

The calories do seem unfair, but science is proof that men need more calories then women do to lose/sustain weight loss. Sorry, but I'm with you...it's not fair, but it's reality.

I too thought the trainer said, "No carb is a bunch of bunk"...but atleast she didn't say Atkins was bad. These people need the carbs if they're working out 2-5 hours a day. I would have puked along with the guy after 2 hours of intense work out!

My favorite commercial....it's like watching the Super Bowl! lol!...was the Quaker Oats commerical with the scale attached to the people's legs. It's soo me! lol!

Looking forward to next week....and I'll have my pen and paper handy. lol!

LOOL Lisa! That was funny (Quaker Oat Man).

I really liked seeing how far Ruben came after he was booted from the show. He looked really GOOD!

Dare I to dream of my goal closet? I can't fit into any of that until my 130's! *lol* (Yes, I'm a hopeful fanatic).

I think the 1200 calorie goal is really reasonable, in that (here comes the math) a 120-pound woman generally needs that much to eat in order to sustain weight. It's low enough that someone with a BMR of 2420 (at 220pounds), who exercises 800+ calories a day shows a calorie deficit of well over 2,000 calories per day. In 10 days, this makes it very plausible that they'd lose a lot of weight, especially considering they PIGGED OUT that first day (which I thought was so sad, but it did help make for the dramatic weight loss 10 days later).

Not to beat the ole dead horse, but I just lost 21 pounds in a week!

I exercised 770 calories a day and kept my calorie intake at 1200 or less, and the weight just fell off.

BTW, cranberry--you look so cute! Way to go!

I love talking about this show because it SO rocks! I love reading what you guys all think about it, too.

I am watching the Biggest Loser. It always makes me cry and inspires me at the same time. I think the Wrestler dude will win because he seems emotionally ready for the challenge and ready to take the necessary steps to get there. I haven't got their names down pat yet, but I like the blonde with the cat glasses. She's already cute, but she will be really cute when she loses all that weight. I hope she hangs around long enough for us to see her final results. My goal next week is to watch it while walking on the treadmill (provided of course that it is not a two hour show). Don't want to kill my fool self. I am also a die hard Gilmore Girls fan and SURVIVOR comes on tonight. JOY!!
Now, we know why I'm here. I'm a reality show junkie and TV lover.

So what kind of exercise are you doing to burn 700 cals per day?

I thought the work out portion on the males was out of line. They had very over weight not used to weight lifting men, throwing ten to fifteen lb. dumbells.I was surprised someone did not get injured. The form you use in weight training is as important if not more so than the amount of weight you lift. Other than that, I love the show.

I agree, I lost it. I thought those guys could have really injured themselves, too! Also, making the women run at the beginning? I'm sorry, but I can't run without getting shin splints!

Hi TNDeb! Nice to meet you! I have to watch Survivor--I didn't know it's starting again! Thank you!

wannabe-- According to my treadmill, at 231 pounds, I'm burning about 800 calories walking 3 miles at an incline of 2 for 30 minutes, then at 3 for thirty minutes.

The incline is everything in uber-training!
