  • Confession--please only throw Nerf balls at me...

    Ok, I have a confession...

I had a Diet Coke with Splenda today with a bag of peanuts while my Dad was in the MRI room. I did well when we ate lunch, but I was sooooo nervous that I ate something from the gift shop so there went five carbs I could have done without. I didn't even want food; it was the nerves.

However, I will pick myself up and not let it happen again. I am sorry to you all for failing today. My only concession is that I passed up the chips and candy and did choose peanuts (at least I didn't go hog wild).

But, I know the whole "one bite won't hurt thing" is not true, so I screwed up today. All I can do is start over fresh now (water for the rest of the night) and then begin anew tomorrow. Lordy, just when I was doing so well, I caved.

"Hello, my name is Debbie and I am a food addict"... I hate using food as a crutch. Darn it! Why can't I overcome this!!!

no you are a carbhydrate addict

Don't you hate when life gets in the way of your perfect Atkins world and emotions rear their ugly head and you just aren't strong as you thought you were cause you listened to that little inner Dr Brain prescribbing food to fix your emotional feelings about the unknown dealing with Dad's health. ( I hope y'all got a good report)

Don't do just water as that will destabilize your blood sugars. just resume your normal for you Atkins way of eating when you are hungry or the 6 hr rule hits. Yep you are over on your carbs for today but you can be right back in a happy place in your Atkins world tomorrow.

Now you need to work on something you can use as a replacement for food as a comfort because life loves to throw those detures at you and that will be a very individual thing for you to use.

Happy low carbing and welcome back on the Atkins low carb wagon.

      2big,

Yep, I hate that I fell off the wagon for a second though! Darn it! I will eat a little something before bed then (the 6 hour rule) and get up tomorrow and make bacon and eggs. A strict, kick in the tushy induction is in order! I cannot stray again! Thanks for the support.

oops just left you a note in your journal about an emergency Atkins kit. there should be a post in the FAQ about them too.

but if you the carbohydrate addict stress tomorrow with a strick induction again plan then the high carb ad the drug for stress Dr Brain will try to prescribe high carb foods for you to ease that stress.

Did you know exercise even just walking as in paciong the floors at the hospital will burn off those stress bad for us hormones and release those good for us neurotransmitters calming you and turning off Dr Brain's high carb Rx message?

          2big,

Hmmm, I am not a pacer by nature, but I will give that one a try! It might help. Thanks!

            Hey Debbie, been there done that got the empty bag o'almonds to prove it! My mom was in the hospital all last week, so there I was running up there every day and sitting with her for longer than planned and not having my food. By the 4th day I was remembering to carry a 1 oz piece of cheddar with me and taking a bottle of water but she was in for 7 days so.... You will get thru this and you learn more each time you deal with it. {{HUGS}}

Debbie - you did a good job. This is WOE is supposed to change our lives and our thinking and how to react to situations. If I was in your position, I wouldn't beat myself up too bad. This WOE and WOL is about making better choices than we did before along the path to getting ourselves in the habit of making the BEST choices under pressure. Yes, you caved into FOOD but you didn't cave in to all that many CARBS. I admire you for the control you had posessed at such a time. May we all exhibit similar control when faced with pressure like that.

                      Cleo,

I am back with gusto this AM. I ate a nice breakfast (bacon, lettuce, cheese and mayo) and I am drinking my H2O so I will be fine.

good for you rememeber to do your exercise as normal today too you don't want to injure yourself in a foolish attemp to exercisie off any pounds you might have gained from those peanuts.

Oh and should you need nuts again pecan almonds walnuts or macadamia are better choices because of the omega oils and such.

please don't keep redoing 14 day induction.

Use only enough days of induction to get you back into ketossi if you are even out and then go back to where you wwre on your Atkins. Dr Atkins talkes about it in DANDR Induction isn't a punishment for cheating only a tool to regain control of your cravings and getting into deep ketosis when out of ketosis.

the inital 14 days was so you could cleanse your body of the carb addiction and other food addictions like caffeine and learn that hey I didin't drop dead eating fat and experience the joy of the scales moving so you could know Atkins will work for you and eatting fat doesn't make you fat. you have learned that lesson well or you would not have been upset you cheated and embraced the return to induction whole heartily today.
just pick it up where you wre an mover on morphing your body to become the healthier smaller person you know you can be.

                            Happy low carbing.

This Wol is a learning experience. You are doing a great job.
I have learned so much about myself in these past couple years. The uncontrolled eating binges were more about emotions than hunger, for me. I am an emotional addicted eater. After realizing this, I have better control. Eating low carb is the only way for me now!
One thing I learned is to be prepared. Prepared ahead of time, with my meals. Last year I stayed with my mom in the hospital while she had knee replacement surgery. Everyday I took my little cooler with my foods all prepared and ready to eat. I had raw veggies(cucs, bell peppers, green and red, celery, cauliflower) roast beef and sometimes broasted chicken. I ate good, saved money and I drank tons of water. I would take walks thru the halls and work off the nervous tension of seeing mom go thru this ordeal. I also lost weight!!!
                              Happy Low Carbing!
