I had to tell everyone about this. I was in Costco tonight, looking for some good meat to cook, and a woman touched me lightly on the shoulder. I turned around, thinking I might know her, and I had never seen her before in my life. She looked at me and simply said, "Thank you for serving our country."
I just looked at her for a moment, and said "Thank YOU", and she responded "No, thank you" and walked on by.
I have to tell you, that sentiment makes the past 12 years worth everything I have done. It's rare, but every once in a while someone will do that, and I can't tell you how much it means to those of us in uniform.
So...this holiday season, I would ask each of you to do something. When you see a military member, just stop for a brief moment and thank them for their service to our country. It will be one of the best Christmas presents you could ever give them.
