  • the supportive coworker, NOT!

Well just thought i'd share what happened to me last week at work. We were just having lunch and i was talking with a coworker about my diet. Since i have to bring my own lunch instead of eating the carb laden foods that the daycare offers, questions about my diet often come up. Anyway, somehow the topic of excersise came up and i just made the comment that i had jogged for a mile, the night before, without stopping. *something i hadn't done since highschool 15years ago* So she asked how fast and i told her and she said "Wow, that's a slow mile." with some laughing.

Now i'll be the first to admit i have a long long *did i say long?* ways to go, but a little positive comment would of been nice. Guess I won't be sharing that info with her anymore!!!
Just proves you got to do it for yourself and know what it is worth to you to get there.

Well, let me be the first to tell you then, that jogging a mile non stop at any speed is pretty impressive! Who cares what that twit thinks. You will be showing your co-workers when you are skinny!!

Keep up with the jogging and healthy eating, and ignore the negative comments

I'm sorry she said that. What a witch!

Congrats on running a mile, its a good distance.

How long did it take you btw, (I am not going to laugh at you). Just interested really.

But one things for sure, it will give you a nice little target for future runs.

What Brook said (man, I wish she was inside my head when all I can think of to say is "oh yeah?...well....your mother wears army boots"). Yay on your running. Baby steps now, but you'll be improving your time in no time. Way to go! I can't run around the block so I'm impressed.

                      Re: the supportive coworker, NOT!

14 minute mile for your first non-stop running mile is fabulous. Your time improvements are the greatest when you first start running. My training runs average about 10 minutes per mile and I've been running for almost a year. Look at Betty(ttdriver) who just ran the Disney half marathon this weekend her pace was about 12:30 a mile and she ran almost 1500 miles last year.

Look at where it came from and ignore her ignorance. You did fabulous, keep it up.

As Jim said, a 14 minute mile for your first effort is ok. Definitely something to be proud of and strive to beat.

                        Good for you.

Girl, please! You've got to realize that some of us can barely do a 30-MINUTE mile (((raising hand)))!

A 14min mile sounds like Olympic speeds to me (I'm not really joking). You're doing great. If I get to the point that I can do a mile that quickly, I'll be grateful!

Just adding to my previous post.

I do a 8:35 minute mile (on average) and it has taken me about 2 years to get to that speed.

                            It does take time, honestly.

A 14 minute mile is moving at more than a very brisk walk pace. It would be considered a jog, most people can"t jog to the end of their driveways and back. Don"t bother answering idiots like that, they will just find something else to be critical of. Great job and let us know when you hit the 10 minute mile because will!
