I have seen the face of evil and it is...*gasp*...BIRTHDAY CAKE!!! Today my co-workers celebrated one of my co-worker's birthday, and tomorrow we celebrate another one.
When I walked into the office and saw the beautiful white cake with sprinkles inside, I just walked right by it. The birthday boy offered me a piece, but of course, I politely declined, and didn't miss a beat joking with him. I didn't even have to leave the room to avoid the temptation. My co-worker who baked the cake (who is also a very close friend of mine), tried to coax me into tasting the cake (she has no idea I'm on Atkins because I've decided not to discuss my weight with ANYONE at work). Again, I declined. She pushed pretty hard, but I held my ground, as politely as I could.
Next obstacle is to get through HER party tomorrow (Thursday), which will be much bigger. I plan to take my lunch so I'm not tempted by any of the food there, but I'll be around the junk for a longer time. I wish I could avoid the party altogether because I work in a large department at a University, so I know most of the girls will bug me about why I'm not eating cake with my friends (which I normally would do). I don't want the conversation to turn to Atkins or my weight. I have absolutely no intention of eating anything I shouldn't. I just have to figure out how to quietly pass on the cake without inadvertantly becoming the center of attention. I could say "Oh, I'm stuffed!" But they all know better...LOL...remnants of the old me.
