  • Small Rant: A little overwhelmed

I posted earlier today in the main Atkins forum about my leg cramps, but having those just made me think of so many other things, mostly that I still have 100 pounds to lose. Though I can admit that it's much better than the 117 I started with, it's going very slow now. I guess with dropping 25 pounds in 3 weeks the first time I did Atkins, I was expecting about the same this time around. Not so. I am waiting for the next 1 pound loss so I can say that I have UNDER 100 pounds to go!

I am making mini goals to try to not be so overwhelmed and I've been very good in not cheating. I'm doing more reading here now instead of posting so I can get lots of information and inspiration to keep me going. But the feeling of being overwhelmed won't go away today and I hate that!

I had a long talk with my hubby. He says that since I'm not eating 20 carbs to begin with, I can consider myself still on induction even though I'll be eating an extra 5g of veggies, but to me it seems like cheating to say I'm still doing the induction phase. What do you think?

    100 pounds to go.

say you are doing modified OWL and get over it cause feeling you are cheating will eat at you and if you are a use food as a drug person you will be medicating yourself with some old comfort food because if it.
Read the stickies about how to do it and know you can squat on rung one for as long as you like. I did modified OWl for the first 100 pounds with rung 1 and 3. it was easy and I never felt better.

I know how those leg carbs can be frustrating. Hope your go away soon.

SO what you geting for those mini rewards and do you have a bigger reward ofr say 25 pounds gone too?

    Happy low carbing

Are the cramps on the outside of your legs or the main muscles, and do they seem to be provoked by walking exercise?

I ask, because I had the same thing, and it HURT like noones business, I switched to water walking, and then swimming, and havent had a problem since.

Agree with 2big about the veggies. I eat more than two cups a day, but under 20 carbs. I figure it is better than chocolate, lots of vits and such, and within my carb level, so I dont sweat it.

Re: Small Rant: A little overwhelmed

I don't know what I'm getting yet. My husband thinks I'm aiming too high with my mini goals. I'm thinking 250 (where I ended up the last time I did Atkins), then 200, 180 and 165. He thinks there is too much between them and I should maybe go for 10 pound goals all the way down. Right now I'm thinking that he may be right. He also says that 199 is a better goal than 200.

I do use food for comfort. Well, I used to anyway. I am doing pretty good in that area. I guess that's something to cheer about.

I am going to spend some time reading and rereading things here and I'm hoping to get out of this funk I have going. Thanks for telling me to "get over it." I needed that.

Re: Small Rant: A little overwhelmed

The cramps are on the outside of my legs at the very bottom of my calf muscles (unless that's another muscle entirely). It doesn't seem to be brought on by walking. I truly believe I have a potassium/magnesium deficiency. That will be remedied today.

Hate to say it but hubby is right mini goals are like 5 pounds.
Brook used to get herself a new lip color thing every 5 and perfume every 23.

I was cheap I paid myself $5 a pound and said at 100 gone I could spend it. I opened an account and went everry friday to deposit my money. I only paid for the pound once so it I yoyoed no money for it again but i also didn't withdraw it for gaining it back in a yoyo weighing time.

So now go make you some much smaller goals and keep your bigger ones too. double dipping on weight goals is alowed. yout not on carb foods.

Hey, I just wanted to say that when I first started walking I got REALLY bad cramps/ pain on the side of my left calf... just above my ankle area... I went to the doctor and everything was fine. I stuck to walking VERY SLOWLY for weeks, and I just pushed through. Eventually it went away. Now I only get the pain when I have my incline up too high. But the pain was so bad it was almost crippling! If you're so inclined just keep going and hopefully it will get better like it did for me... But you might want to check w/ your doc to make sure there's no other probs (deficiencies or even a blood clot, etc).

              Good luck!

                  Kate,

for the leg cramps I take these suppliments:-
                  http://www.gnc.com/sm-gnc-potassium-...i-2133452.html
                  I haven't had a leg cramp since.

                  I also take magnesium suppliments.

With regards to this WOE, don't get hung up on the levels. You are changing your WOL, do what works for you, as long as it's within the Atkins parametres.

Kate could it be you have a little P.I.S.S. going on? It seems there's been a lot of P.I.S.S. stuff going on around here as of late, since quite a few of us started roughly the same time, the start of the new year. I just got through my P.I.S.S. myself, LOL, maybe its the bleach i just used in cleaning but everytime i type P.I.S.S. im giggling to myself....
P.I.S.S. by the way stands for post induction stall syndrome. You're body is getting used to it's new way of eating and taking a moment to readjust, make sure you're drinking enough water as well!!

here are a couple of links about it! I hope your leg cramps go away too...not fun!
I think you're doing great and you're so worth the work you're going through!

I've got P.I.S.S. as well, and it's driving me batty!! I've been at 235 for what seems like forever (okay...probably only about 2 weeks or so) and there have been many times that I've felt like screaming. I'm having a more difficult time this time around. Along with what others have said, we need to remind ourselves that we will see progress eventually if we're doing all the right things!!

Oh, and I agree with making your mini goals smaller...like 5 pounds or so. Then you can give yourself bigger rewards for 20-pounds lost, and so on.

Re: Small Rant: A little overwhelmed

Thanks so much everyone! You know, I really felt psyched up when I started this time and didn't think for a second that I'd be getting these feelings I'm having today. It's so great to come to ADBB and see that so many are willing to share their experiences and offer advice.

Dave, thanks for the link. I definitely need to get this! If I get another dang cramp, I'm gonna want to be cutting the leg off!

Suzie, thanks for explaining P.I.S.S. (lol) I bet you're right. I sure hope it picks up by next weigh in though.

Kate, I understand where you're coming from. I want you to do well! When I read what you had written, my heart sank for you and I could feel the frustration you felt. Please don't give up! You're doing so well. Try to stay focused on how much better you feel already.

And I want to thank you. I've been in the dumps lately (overwhelmed by the length of the journey before me) and I know that in seeing you and wanting you to do well that it made me realize that I wanted those things for myself.

Let's both do it! I'm glad you decided to post... thank you for helping me realize these things about myself too. I know you can get through this. I'm rooting for you!
No stats. Not weighing anymore ever. Will post "before and after" pictures when I want to. The end.

Wow! I'm so glad that I am not the only one feeling this way. I have good days and bad days and today just seems like a really bad day. BUT...I have NOT given up & I have NOT cheated. I have to follow my own advice and continue to take this one day at a time.

changing...you and I are BOTH going to do this come h*** or high water! I know it!
