I've heard a lot of negative things this week from people on reasons that they can't or struggle to make this WOE work for them. I talked with a friend last night and every time she told me why she couldn't do it....I'd respond with a positive comment. Soon, we were laughing and I thought I'd share this approach with you. It really helps to change your neg into pos thoughts.
"My family doesn't want me to do Atkins - they think it is unhealthy"
WRITE DOWN YOUR MENU AND ASK THEM WHAT FOODS THEY HAVE A PROBLEM WITH
"It is raining outside so I can't go for a walk"
WALK INDOORS or SUBSTITUDE WALKING WITH AN INDOOR EXERCISE FOR TODAY (using video or just dance or make up exercises to do)
"I have a lot of meetings at work this week and we'll be eating out...so I can't do my WOE"
Take your own lunches or choose and pick what is available off any menu. Tell the waitress you are restricted from some foods and most of them will gladly substitute items to keep you happy.
"I have family coming to visit - so I can't fix Atkins friendly meals this weekend"
ATKINS FRIENDLY meals are just meals. If your family eats meats, veggies and salad..they you don't have to go off your WOE. If they want bread or chips or whatever...that doesn't mean you have to eat it. Fix yourself some pepperoni chips or cheese chips so you don't feel deprived. Check out the recipe section to find moch potato salads or whatever else that you need to substitute for yourself. Chances are they will also eat and like what you've made.
"My family likes to sit on Saturday nights and eat pizza and watch movies"
The Atkins' friendly pizza with hamburger crust is delicious. It is low-carb and satisfies your craving for pizza.
"I'm going to a family reunion and won't be able to eat Atkins this weekend.
I'm sure your family reunion will include some meat, veggie or salad. If they are having pasta - then take a dish that you can eat. Take yourself serious. If you are diabetic or have allergies to certain foods, you wouldn't eat particular foods. Your weight loss plan is just as serious as any other medical condition that you have to plan around.
There are many more obstacles that we come across that are convient for us to use as excuses to stop or jeopardize our way of eating. I think if we all mentally play this positive game in our minds and turn the neg thoughts into positive actions, we will find that nothing is more important or worth our health.
Here's to a summer of Making it happen. WE can all do it!!!
