I agree -- great attitude, Juli. Heck, I'd bet he'd be just as happy to see you in the lacy two-piece... we're so much more critical than they are.

My take on this article is get down to goal first. Then cut back fat for a few weeks (as much as you can without getting cravings) and keep working out hard. Once the flappies have diminished to a satisfactory (to you) size, go back to normal maintenance eating and let you body fat level itself at 20-25% or whatever.
It does make sense, I never saw any of those poor famine victims with loose skin and many African ladies start out fairly well covered.

It does get better. AS I dropped my weight the amount that was hanging reduced more and more. It is still there somewhat (as shown in my loose skin Youtube video) after 200 pounds lost. You just have to give it time at least 9 months before you can really get concerned. Your body still isn't sure if it needs the skin for later reinflating or not. You just have to give it time to realize otherwise.

That's a good point about getting to goal and then going from there -- thanks for the input. I have a lot of time to worry about this... maybe I should just let it go for now, huh? And take my flaxseed oil supplements, per Cher.

Ugh, when you put it that way, why would anyone let themselves regain... "reinflating" sounds terrible. LOL Then again, "deflating" doesn't sound much better, but I WANT to do that.

Re: Calling all 100lb+ losers: Seeking truth about body changes

                Hello All

I also suffered all the skin issues that you guys are stating, as a result of three pregnancies, being a very small framed women my body really struggled with the stretching. Still after 2 years after the birth of my son, the skin, despite being at a low weight (110lbs), was not back to normal and the skin was saggy and wrinkly.

I had a tummy tuck 4 weeks ago, yes it was painfull for 2/3 days but the difference is dramatic. I would do it again in a heartbeat. Yes it seems vain to do, but I needed to feel confident about myself again, the muscle seperation was 2 inches, so without surgery I would never have been able to resolve this with gym work, skin brushing etc (all of which I had been doing for 2 years).

Very little can be done for sagging skin once you have been at a steady goal weight for a period of time, it will only tighten up to a certain degree.

                Thanks
                Sally

Sally, I don't think it's vain at all. I mean, we are all here to be healthy, yes, but we also want to look good and FEEL good about ourselves. Sounds like you gave your body plenty of opportunity to rebound.

                  Thanks for sharing.

Re: Calling all 100lb+ losers: Seeking truth about body changes

I am still morbidly obese, but with my loss of 140 so far - there has been a big difference.

I do have a bit of bat wings, but they have been shrinking.

The skin on my inner thighs is shrinking too.

I used to have this disgusting fat apron (pannus). It has strung back.

The gut is still a lot more 'hangy' than it used to be when I was this weight (before I gained more), but I can see it shrinks.

I believe Dr. Atkins advocated gradual weight loss - and I would agree.

                    Let's all see at goal.

But I could live with what Kent has. I would rather have his skin, than be fat!

                      Well ladies,

I am new here and I plan to exercise and weight train according to how fast I am losing...hopefully there wont be much skin sagging. I have weighed roughly about 175 lbs throughout highschool------believe me I couldnt stop being chubby for nothing.....Any hoo......I had defined abs at the top with a pooch on the lower stomach. I had major cellulite thighs. Now at almost 300 lbs I look a hot mess and I refuse to beleive there is nothing I can do to whip this skin back into shape without surgery..........So good luck to you ladies and I will keep ya posted.

good for you to be thinking about exercising this early in your weightloss journey, Stephanie

I am ashamed to admit that apart from walking a mile or so several times a week I didnt start exercising seriously till I had lost most of the weight I needed to, so now I have it all to do to firm up everything.

I have seen a big difference in my saggy bits since joining a gym and working out 3 times a week though, so I guess it is never too late, but I am sure it would have been easier had I done this 3 years ago!!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

Actually Ellen, for a heavy person, I am actually active.........I guess I just eat too much which keeps the weight on!!! But thx for the encouragement. I really need it.

Stephanie, you might want to consider starting a journal, if you haven't already. It's a great way to meet folks and build up a small but devoted network of ADDB buddies. Also, if you haven't yet, check out the "Century Club" -- it's for the unique issues of people with more than 100 lbs. to lose -- like me! But, only 75 more to go now...

Again, welcome. ADBB is a great place -- the people here are wonderful. Very supportive and lots of fun! Visit often!

Oh ok, thanks Adena. I will try that. Is there a specific place on this forum for journal writing or did you just start your own journal blog?
