Hang in there! All good things are worth waiting for and you've lost 13 lbs already which is GREAT! Don't underestimate how TOM can affect your whole being. Keep focus and I bet once TOM is gone, you'll see a change!!

      Re: gaining weight

I wish you more luck that you can possibly handle!!

**make sure you are eating enough fat too! You cannot burn fat without eating fat. There is a section in the book that talks specifically about eating enough fat in order to get into lypolisis. butter and mayo and olive/canola oil are your new best friends...remember that. I eat mayonaise at least 3 times a day- every salad dressing I make has a bit of mayo in it and I make dips for my meat with mayo as well. eat the good fats like your olive oil- put it in whatever you can. You can't be that metabolically resistant. Try eating more fat...I had to get used to it. 3 weeks ago, I told my husband that mayo was gross- now I eat it everyday!

Hang in there and yes, do remember that you have already lost 13 pounds!!! that is amazing too!

Another thing you really need to watch out for is hidden sugar- check the ingredients on everything....and if you see a type of sugar at the top of the list- don't eat it. Just keep in remembering in the back of your mind that everything has sugar.

Stick with it- even if the weight comes off slowly- at least it's coming off!

            Re: gaining weight

Thanks for asking! I just started working last week (april 23rd). I graduated last June and I have been taking time off since then so this is definitely going to take some getting use to. I was able to bring a slice of cheese and some pepperoni with me to work, or chunks of chicken to eat for lunch. they also have an amazing cobb salad downstairs.

Anyway, I guess everyone takes turns bringing breakfast on Fridays and last friday we got pastries. I thought maybe adding carbs might jumpstart my weightloss since I still haven't lost much in the past month. Well, unfortunately I didn't bring lunch that day and we were so busy that they had to bring us lunch...PIZZA. So 2 cheats in one day. (I have to admit it was good though..)

After that my mom had me make a coconut cake (my fav) and I couldn't resist that either. Cheating IS a slipperly slope. My mom fell completely off the wagon a while ago and she's been dragging me down ("you already cheated today, let's just get fish n chips"). Yesterday I was finally able to resist taking a bite of the cake so I've been back on since yesterday.

Fortunately I didn't gain, in fact I'm starting to lose. My mom says my mid-section is starting to shrink. I don't know if I believe her, but I will try and measure tomorrow morning.

Once work becomes more routine I will add back exercise (I didn't exercise at all last week!) and start taking in more water.

Anyway, I learned my lesson. I thought I would be able to control myself but I couldn't. I'm glad I got back on before going too crazy! We had to order food from Fuddrucker's at work so everyone got burgers/sandwiches, onion rings, and fries. I got a salad

Good for you for getting a salad today
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
