  • What are your October goals?

    What are everyone's October goals? It's a new month. 31 days of choices, decisions, goals.

    My goals for the month of October are to make it through the whole month cheat free. To eat only what is on my accepted food list (I'm on induction). And to exercise daily for at least 1 hour.

    What are your'e goals??? Share them with us. Inspire us.

    My October goals are:

    - Lose 15lbs. by Halloween
    - Work out at least 4x a week
    - Drink at least 2 QT's of water a day
    - No cheats for the whole month

      Goal #1-STOP SMOKING
      Goal #2-No cheating
      Goal #3-96 oz water daily
      Goal #4-walk at least 1.3 miles daily for 4 days of each week

      Having such a hard time with the smoking thing. The chantix isnt working like it did the last time I took it. I could kick myself for stopping the medication. I dont even know why I stopped taking it. I talked to my doctor's assistant this morning and she is going to talk to my doctor to see if we can possibly increase my dose. Another doctor friend of mine said I might have to go on a small dose of xanax or something for maybe a month, just to get me past the panic attacks that come when I think about not smoking for 24 hours. I told my doctors assistance that I dont really wanna do that because im on Atkins and I dont want a sedative messing with metabolism. Im waiting for a call back from her.

        Here are mine (they're more things I want to do than goals, per se):

        1. Eat only approved foods in approved quantities.
        2. Drink all my water every day.
        3. Avoid aspartame and caffeine.
        4. Make a good transition to OWL (last time I did Atkins I did not transition well from induction to OWL - I was much too comfortable with induction and did it for much too long).
        5. Work on finding new foods and recipes to avoid getting into a rut.
        6. Average at least 30 minutes of exercise every day, and work on increasing that to 45-60 minutes by the end of the month.
        7. Do not even LOOK at Halloween candy.

          Great goals Gals!!! WE CAN DO IT!!! October is going to be a great month!!

          Tulsanurse1, I take Lexapro to help wth my anxiety. You may want to give that a try. I know several people who have been on it and are very happy. They have tried the other meds and they haven't had as much success.

            Thanks Angela. Im really hesitant about doing the Lexapro because of the weight gain alot of people get from it. I just wish this damn Chantix would kick in.

              I posted a spot for Lexapro users to respond about whether they are having weight gain issues while on Lexapro... I have been on it for about 6 months and I had never really heard anyone say that about weight gain until today. I am curious what others thought. Will be interesting to hear. That may be one of the causes of my weight gain issues... I may need to check into getting off of it if it is causing me that side effect.

                I have heard alot of people complain that that was their major side affect. Ive never taken it personally, so I dont know.

                  3. To set up my ipod and start walking more
                  4. To lose one clothing size
                  5. To avoid the candy
                  6. To become more feminine

                    October is certainly going to be a huge challenge for me with all of the candy in the stores and in my kids baskets... Sweets is definatley my weak point! However as they say, "nothing tastes as good as thin feels". Thin does feel pretty darn good, I remember!!! When I look at the bags of candy tempting me at the grocery stores that my kids beg me to drive the cart by so they can "look at the cool halloween stuff surrounded by mountains of bags of candy" I will envision the bags of candy as big bags of sugar and fat... That otta do the trick!!

                      1. go the whole month cheat free
                      2. walk six days a week for at least 30 minutes.
                      3. Drink a gallon of water each day
                      4. Get my veggies down.

                        1: To get out of the 300's.

                        2: To be able to button and zip my size 24 jeans.

                        3: To drink even more water than I already am.

                        4: To lose 4 inches from my abdomen

                          GREAT GOALS EVERYONE!!! I am so excited for all of you. You have such a great list of goals. And they are reachable!! I used to make such huge goals for myself and I didn't realize that it really hurt my success. I would feel so let down because I didn't reach them. I know that is the key, to start off with small realistic goals. I wish all of you the best of luck. October is going to be a great month, lets stay away from the pressures of halloween candy and remain focused on why we are here. That is easier said than done I know. BUt it will be a real challenge for me as I see the aisles of halloween candy everywhere I look at the stores... WE CAN DO IT!!!

                            A bit late but Oct. goals...hrrmmmm

                            1) keep up the 3 days a week walk for an hour each
                            2) drink my daily water
                            3) try a new veggie
                            4) learn the rungs of OWL and be ready to move into it
                            5) go back to tracking my foods in fitday

                              Good re-induction

                              225 by 10/31 - this weigt is important to me as it is my "LIE weight" on my Ohio Drivers License, which I, or course, have never weighed since I start driving.

                              Oh yes, there SHALL be a party that day!!!
