  • water and exercise

I did not get this size by loving to drink water and get out and walk a mile or two! I go home from work walk the dogs (just a little walk) come in the house, relax a little, fix a little supper for me and my dh, relax a little more maybe see the grandchildren, relax a little more and then go to bed...maybe you see a pattern here...I am having a heck of a time trying to get my exercise in! I can't seem to get motivated. This is me here right now My relaxing side fighting with my exercise side!

I am very frustrated with myself right now!

    Hey Sandy,

I'm like you, if I go home, I want to "relax." That's why I go to the gym right after work, cuz if I go home first, I won't make it to the gym. I know me. Sounds like you know you too. Gotta break those old habits that got you to the size you don't want to be.

It is hard when you first begin, but believe me after you've established a routine -- you'll do a complete turn around and look forward to walking, exercising and drinking water. Changes in your life style take about 2-3 weeks to really become a habit. Tell yourself you'll give it a month. Then it doesn't seem so long. After that month, you won't want to quit. AND MEASURE....cause when you see those inches shrinking off...you will be walking around with a big smile and be so motivated you won't be able to keep from thinking about how the exercise is burning up the fat!

Sandy, i know exactly what you mean. I get home, I want to relax and kick back. I did find a solution for me. I bought me a recumbent bike and I pedal thirty minutes during my fav show. I feel like I am getting more bang for my buck when I am at home now.

            Re: water and exercise

Hey Sandy, the biggest thing that helped my get off my butt and start exercising was finding an accountability partner... someone who you enjoy their company but who won't let you off the hook so easily. Find someone that is willing to exercise with you so many times a week and make a commitment to each other that you won't make up excuses NOT to do it. Help each other. I never would have joined a gym or been so committed to my exercise routine if it weren't for having that support in the beginning. Good luck! And I'll tell you from a fellow CC'er...exercise can actually be fun. I know, I know...I never thought I'd say that in a million years...but over the past year I have really grown to enjoy my time at the gym. Find something that you enjoy and stick with it....whether it's walking, riding a bike, Richard Simmon's videos (lol, I used to like those as a teen), going to a gym, taking group classes, swimming... you'll find your niche and when you do you'll start rackin' up the minutes!

I am very proud to say I walked for a little over 30 minutes last night...I know if I want to really lose my weight I have to get active since I do sit at a desk all day! Thanks everyone...it's always better coming from someone who knows where I am!
