  • Question on Lack of Hunger

    My brother and I both started Atkins on the same day so we are hitting all the phases at the same time. It's kind of cool.

    Right now we both are noticing a few things.

    1. We get full really fast, we both can only eat about 1/3 of the portion size that we were eating 4 weeks ago then we are stuffed.

    2. We don't get hungry, we are eating 3 times a day but if we don't stop to look at the time we don't get hungry for at least 7-8 hours.

    Should we eat more ? Or just eat till satisfied even if its tiny compared to before ?

    For example on week 1 I could go to El Pollo Loco and get an 8 Peice chicken only meal with a side salad and eat all of it.

    Today I could eat maybe 2 peices and the salad and I'll feel totally stuffed

    I went from 280 to 260 on induction and he went from 245 - 230

    So what do the long timers say .. it be helpful

    Blood Pressure at start averaged 140/85 borderline Hypertension. Blood Pressure 18 days into plan has changed to 120/78 !!! Measured April 5, 2009

    Are you tracking your food intake?

    Atkins is wonderful in a lot of ways, but at some point, it's important to eat, to stop your body from going into starvation mode and using bone/muscle(active) tissue for energy before fats.

    Try to snack and split your meals up to 4 - 5 meals/snacks in a day, and shoot for the 1800 - 2000 calorie range for your size.

      You should really eat til you are satisfied (but not stuffed or overly full). It is very important to eat three meals a day and a snack. I wouldn't really go more than 5 hours with out eating.

      It's nice not to be a slave to carbs/sugar

      What I know:
      1-Atkins WOE/WOL plan works
      2-I need to always work on the behaviors and triggers that make me over eat.
      3-Atkins WOL is part of the puzzle, but is not the entire thing.
      4-Self-deprecation only feeds our inner ego and not in a good way.
