      Re: Hey!~

Glad to help! One thing I forgot to mention is make sure you are drinking AT LEAST 64 oz of water, PURE WATER (no Crystal Lite or Kool Aid or anything of that sort) every day. Ideally you should be drinking much more than that, but 64 oz is the bare minimum. The water helps tremendously during Induction because your body is switching from carb-burning enzymes to fat burning enzymes. The water will flush your system of all that nasty stuff inside your body that you are getting rid of. (Just FYI sugars are mostly stored in the liver in what we call glycogen, and the liver maintains a 1-2 day supply of sugar for energy for the body before it starts converting the excess glucose into fat. Once your body has burned through those sugars stored in the liver it begins burning fat...which is pretty much a synopsis of what ketosis is.)

I would also suggest that if you aren't taking a multivitamin you start taking one. I would suggest something along the lines of the One A Day Men's Health multivitamin. The reason I suggest that one is because it doesn't have iron in it. The Atkins' way of eating is very high in iron so you don't really need a multivitamin with iron in it. I will say great job with the spinach though! Spinach is a great veggie to partake in because it is high in potassium, an important nutrient when it comes to losing weight, and the Atkins' way of eating, especially during induction, is very low on potassium.

I would also advise that you keep track of your daily menu on a website such as FitDay - Free Weight Loss and Diet Journal as this will greatly help you to see what your diet is working out to be. During induction we aim for the ratio of 65/30/5, which is 65% fats, 30% protein and 5% carbs. That 5% of carbs is to mostly come from the green veggies. Fitday will help you keep track of those percentages and show you where you can tweak it to maybe better your food intake.

Okay...I think that is all I have for now...but again, welcome, good luck, and congrats! Always nice to see another Jersey guy around. (I grew up in Monmouth County. )

Welcome! I think you have been given an awesome crash course in the induction area of Atkins. Everything said here has been exactly on target. Speaking from experience, drinking enough water cannot be stressed enough. Water is such an undervalued nutrient.

Anyhow, welcome to Century Club... you will find such an amazing bunch of people here who truly care. You are doing this! What a great feeling...

            All the best,
