hi, firstly pls note, i am just listing option.

It doesn't mean its for induction.
It does mean just before you cheat big time, if you ever do, you can satisfy your cravings here

at the Sugar Free (Diet alternative) section at Paragon's supermarket.
Its up market so things are not cheap.

Sugar Free Reese peanut buttercup (5 gm carbs) for one buttercup
Sugar Free Reese Dark chocolate (5 gm carbs)
sugar free Reese dark chocolate with almond (5 gm carbs)

they have pork rinds (zero carbs) at the REGULAR SNACK section not in diet alternative. it screams ZERO CARBS on the packet. and it tastes so awful TO ME. but again I am listing choices

they have already fried bacon strips, to save yourself the mess. It is stored in vaccum pack and found at end of supermarket where the ice cream section is.

They have sugar free oatmeal cookies, lemon cookies, 3 gm per cookie carbs

Splenda not sold in singapore so there is no need to buy that. I have splenda but i don't use it that much. got it from someone overseas.

other bad alternatives "bad just because its aspartame which can slow down weight loss in some" - is diet coke with lemon ZERO CARBS

Diet Miss Swiss Cocoa hot drink 4 gm carbs

Snapple Ice tea 1 gm sugar, 0 carbs

These are all alternatives for days you just going to blow it.
Maybe one of these alternatives will save you from blowing it.

I had a reese sugar free peanut buttercup today and I felt like...YES I CAN DO THIS
i felt i can go on.

Pls note, I do not advocate this, this is not on atkins induction list. in fact some is not recommended. But it makes a great difference when you are about to blow it, this won't kill you but grabbing for fullsize treats rather than a sugar free, not on induction treat will.

In the end one has to choose between what is acceptable BY YOUR standards instead of Atkins before pigging out if will power is low, or just pig out full time.. Afterall eating one sugar free reese peanut buttercup is better than mrs field's cookie. But staying away is best of course.

and i hope my alternatives help!

    cheers.

      Singapore now has Atkins supplies!

GNC is now carrying the essential oils, & vitamins as well as the complete line of advantage bars & bake mix, pancake mix, Splenda based syrup etc

as for the foods I wonder if this is a blessing or the devil in disguise

Also noticed another Sugar Free Syrup in Tanglin market today

Seems the low carb market here has gotten big enough it finally makes business sense for them to sell the stuff.

Tanglin also has a large new shipment of Unsweetened Soy Milk (Waitrose brand) which I drank even during induction.

This is awesome! Shawnee it's great to know that GNC sells atkins product, though the range is limited. I'll check it out tomorrow! Thanks!

I just have a few local questions:
Are we allowed to use these during induction?

              Product - Ingredients

              Belachan - Shrimp, salt
              Salted fish - mackerel, salt
Oyster sauce - I saw recipes on atkins.com which had oyster sauce in them and were suitable for phase 1? But I thought oyster sauce contained sugar.
Soy sauce - which brand is best suited for atkins?
Can we eat chye sim, kangkong? I know kale is on the acceptable foods list.
What do you use for sugar substitute since only aspartame is sold here?

              Thanks!

I can't wait to go back and try the real Kang Kong belachan!!! Man, I missed that dish... It's GOOD!

I think belachan is pretty low carb, not sure if it's induction friendly. I think it has lime juice in it... That's why it has that limey taste in it... But I could be wrong... Maybe I was just hallucinating about that lime juice... LOL

Can't wait to go back to Singapore!

                    YAY!

Shawnee, thanks, I'll have more local greens now. A friend might be able to get me Splenda from the UK so if that doesn't work out then I'll give you a buzz. Thanks for letting me know.

Woofy, I don't think there's lime juice in Sambal Kangkong. Instead, they usually use assam (tamarind) if they need that sour tinge. I made sambal ladies' fingers and some beef rendang today with some assam. It brought out the flavours in the food better. And they're low carb

Wow! I didn't even know this forum exist til I accidently scrolled down. Must be the works of the Man up there. Anyways, I didn't know GNC has atkins-friendly stuffs; that's so great to hear, seeing GNC is like 10 mins walk from me (I live in Yishun). Thanks for the head up!

Erm.. Went back to Singapore and am now back home in Toronto...

Wow.. Atkins stuff in Singapore is reeeeeeeeeealy expensive... even with the buy one get one free promotion. I was just doing a price comparison and Atkins Advantage bars were going for $6.50 for one bar!

You can get Atkins bars for less than $1.99 per bar here in downtown Toronto!

It's good to be back home in Toronto... Somehow the food here is more suitable for me...

My family was horrified when I ate Nasi Lemak without the rice, refused to eat Char Kway Teow, ate Hainan Chicken Rice with the rice... LOL... They thought I had gone nuts... :yikes

I think it is true that it is a little easier to stay on Atkins here in North America... :yes

                              Hi Singaporegirl,

Do u know the carbcount for assam(tamarind paste)? I checked the nutrition info from Calorieking and they said that 1 cup of tamarind pulp has 75 grams of carb :geek I think it must be the riped and sweetened one.

                              thanks
