    Hi Jonty.

My personal thoughts on Sugar free gum – I don’t touch the stuff. As you probably know, on the side of the packets it says, “may cause laxative effect”, sorry for TMI but for me it was more a case of “will” not “may”. That only happened once I started this WOE. I assume you are asking because of keeping your breath fresh? For that I have a small bottle of mouthwash, which I carry with me that takes the edge of the “dreaded atkins breath”.

With regards to the chocolate, again I haven’t tried it, it’s not really recommended on Atkins, and occasionally I will treat myself to an Atkins bar from boots. These are called endulge and are Atkins friendly.

Please note however that the Atkins bars from boots are not Induction friendly and should be eaten in moderation if you want to be successful.

    I hope this helps

      Hi Rich,

Thanks for getting back to me. I wasn't really looking for the gum to be a breath freshner - I've never had any problem with the Atkins breath. I've been on this way of eating for nearly a year, I lost approx 40 pounds in 6 months, and then my weight has been stable for the next six, although I'd still like to lost another 10-12 pounds. I've never cheated on the carb side of things, I'm coming up to a year cheat-free, but since Xmas I've let myself go on the 'things to avoid' side, i.e. caffeine & sweetners. I've really been looking for something a bit sweet for every now and again - especially for when I got to the cinema. I've been drinking diet coke but I know I shouldn't be. I was hoping the gum could substitute for that. After a year I'm just so sick of drinking water and nothing else - although I've heard Boots shapers drinks are made with Splenda?

As for the Sweet'n'low chocolate - are you sure it's not Atkins friendly? It's made with Malitol, and has something like 0.9 net carbs per bar - which is much less that all the Atkins brand stuff - I've always avoided them.

Anyway, just thought I'd write back. I used to view this board and post more when I had just started this WOE, but since then I have just kind of gone on my merry way. It has changed my life, but I just want to get through that final push to my goal weight. I'm doing everything I can to cut out those 'to be avoided' things, but have to admit to getting pretty bored with the available choice at times, especially when going out to cinema or to the pub.

      Any advice is gratefully recieved!!

I have never come across that brand before (sweet and lo), where do do you buy it? I'll take a look at it. Sorry for giving you all that irrelevent information about atkins bars, I just assumed you were new to the diet.

No problem on the info Rich, I appreciate the reply! The chocolate is sold in Holland and Barrett. It's about 75p a bar, and they do white, milk and dark belgian varieties, with the dark being the lowest carb.

Here's a link to some info:

Also, do you know anything about Keto sugar free Ketchup, which I believe you can also get from H&B?

          Thanks again

Again, sorry I know nothing about the keto ketchup. I'd rather not use it either to be honest. Ketchup is one of the things I miss the most and I'm sure if I had some of the low carb stuff I would end up overeating it.

I think you will do really well to find soft pork rinds. As far as I am aware only the "hard cracklings" are available.

In my local morrisons there are a couple of different types which are a little softer than cracklings but still crispy.

                  Dear All,

I have found the Holy Grail at Tescos. It will make this WOE ALOT easier for me.

                  Tesco Brand Ranch Dressing.

Didn't know I could get ranch in the UK.

Just thought I'd share. Anyone know where I can get bleu cheese dressing?

                    Just a reminder!

                    To all Uk Atkineers.

This is just a quick reminder of the Horizon programme tonight 9pm on BBC2.

Its a repeat broadcasted earlier in the Year back in January. Its a very subjective documentary and isn't full of the usual misconceptions that we hear everyday in the other news.

Hi - i just wondered if anyone can suggest any induction friendly carbonated soft drinks . . . .there are loads of soft drinks that dont contain caffeine but most of them contain aspartame which from what i have read is not good and can cause a stall . . . ..

On the main induction board there seems to be a lot of products available in the US that use Splenda which is acceptable but cant seem to find anything in the UK . . .

                      Thanks in advance

Bambina is right. Boots Shapers Fizzy Water is made with Splenda (it says sucralose on the ingredient list). Not all the Shapers range are made this way though - I know the Cranberry and Raspberry is, it's been my life saver for the cinema!!

Tesco's are stocking some stuff too

Hi everyone. Our local (big) Tescos is also stocking a limited range of carbolite chocolate bars and the £1.79 Atkins bars (there was a saver on if you bought 2). At the moment, I've found Holland and Barrett have more low-carb stuff than my nearby Boots, and of course, you can buy soya flour there at the same time!

Has anyone come across a range of sweets from Halter? A friend told me they were a european company, they come in a small rectangular box with a flip lid and the sweets are all sugar free but I haven't found them yet to check out the ingredients list!

The carbolite bars are also available in Superdrug. A word of warning though, they can be quite bad on the stomach - I suffered really badly with diaorea (not correct spelling) when I ate them.

                                hi all,

Superdrug sell a big range of carbolite choccie bars and bacon snacks, also atkins products.

The rowntree s/f jellies are nice for a treat with whipped cream, but my weight loss seemed to slow down afterwards(try to avoid)?

Local weigh and save deli's sell all the soya flour and whey proteins etc.

                                lol

never thought i would use anything with soya??
