Re: Welcome to the Second Time Around Club

thanks sarah...i'll check that out. i've tried several times to get started over the past few months with no success. my heart just wasn't into it. this time "feels" different. i'm commited to sticking to it. i just started on monday but i'm starting to lose a little. i do the big no no...weighing daily. i weigh daily and will average at the end of the week. i did that the first time around. it kind of keeps me on track to make sure i don't slack or sneak carbs in. this really helped when i went into OWL last time

      thanks again

Re: Welcome to the Second Time Around Club

Hey everyone! I'm back too! I am so glad to see this STAC forum! I lost 30 pounds from December 04-March 05 and then everything just stopped because of a major life stressor and medication changes......I have been on again off again with Atkins since late May....I did hit my first goal (which was to get back into my 14 jeans)....now I am ready for my 12 and 10s to fit me. I only gained 1.5 pounds...so thank goodness for that!

Welcome back Sugarfreeone! Great job on hitting your first goal, and here is to hitting your second

Tayscafe - I know what you mean about the weighing everyday. Its the same for me. It doesn't upset me too much if I don't see a loss, but it reminds me that I need to keep going strong to see those numbers move. I haven't measured like most of our members here have, but I can feel a definite difference inch-wise with my clothes. It took me a long time to get my act together this time around too. I've been trying since March. I'll tell you what has helped me: I met a buddy on here with the same stats as me. She and I email each other every day to check in and just as general support for each other. This has been a life saver for me. I have never had an online friend before, but she is great! I highly recommend it. Feel free to PM me or any of the other Members in this forum for help or to chat!

Welcome to STAC Sugarfreeone! Great on getting into those 14's now on to the 12's! You did very well with only a 1.5# gain while off program.

How are you doing today Tayscafe?

It is great to have a buddy to help keep on track. This board has been a great source of support to come to every day.............. many times every day!
I havent weighed this time around but Im beginning to wonder so just may have to replace that broken scale soon. There is a difference in how my clothes are fitting so I know I have been losing inches.

Re: Welcome to the Second Time Around Club

              sugarfreeone...way to go.

it seems sooo hard to start again after being off for a long time. the funny thing is i have never stopped telling everyone that low carb is the way to go. i figured while i was pregnant i would do south beach...a little easier to do. my doctor was ok with the sb diet. but soon as the hormones started kicking in... I DID NOT WANT low carb lifestyle. chocolate and everything else was so good. i didn't gain too much during my pregnancy(30 lbs) and went down really well. it's been the last couple of months adding to and not getting rid of the weight i did gain. i finally had enough and realized it was time. i think that is the key, everyone must realize for themselves when it is time.

the first time i did low carb was about 3 years ago( a couple of yrs after daughter #1) and i lost 30 very easily and was able to keep it off for about 2 yrs give or take a few pounds. i would eat low carb during the week and what i wanted within reason on the weekends so i didn't feel deprived. this worked very good for me. after i lose my weight i plan on doing the same thing. it's all about choices.

terry-this week has started off very good...so far no desire to cheat(but of course it's only been 4 days). this go around there are so many great carb alterntives and resources. joing this board has helped keep me focused on what i'm wanting to do. the buddy idea is great, i think i will do that. when i was on bedrest with my first, i did that w/someone else on br and it really helped. you have better will power than me...i have to look at the scale just to see. i need to get a new scale too....let me know when you find a good one that stays accurate and doesn't get a mind of its own after a period of time.

              have a great day everyone!!

tayscafe, Start a new thread here in the STAC forum cause your post was so good as many 2nd (3rd, 4th, 5th) folks have exactly the same issues and this is getting lost in the welcome forum.

                  Hey Perry,

I am re-starting this WOE, hopefully, I will stick with it until my birthday. I had heavy-duty health problems and had been on some more different "diets". I didn't see my old avatar or my name on the members' list. I joined this forum over a year ago. Thanks.

                  THANK YOU

                        Hi Dpshaw ~

Well, you came to the right place! So many of us here at STAC have been on the program previously, fell off the wagon, and are now back here succeeding big time! Many of us have tried multiple times to get back on track and here we all are, helping each other out. Personally, i have been on Atkins 5 or 6 times. This time is different - i am really doing it, and i plan on sticking to this program for life. I have been on the program for a month now, and am down 16 pounds so far and have lost several inches.

One of the big factors that helps me stay motivated, connected, and moving forward is this board. The members here have been super supportive and informative and i, like many of us here, am officially addicted to the board.

You CAN do it! And you will do it... just keep coming back here and we'll all be doing it together...

Best of luck to you! Start posting like crazy... we are all here for you.

I CAN do this, I've proved that I CAN do this....I just need to come here every day and be told by all of you that I CAN do this.....it's the before, during and after photos that are the most inspiring thing of all.
