With four kids, you probably get your daily exercise in anyway :yikes I feel like I do with just one kid. Busy moms, gotta love it. You have a great plan. I should consider the Pedometer too. My minimum exercise is 4 days a week with a half an hour each time. I have been really good about sticking to this. And, this does not include the gazillion loads of laundry carried from upstairs to the basement, from the basement to the upstairs, vacuuming all levels, we get lots of exercise from house cleaning. Sadly, I have a desk job during the day, so I dont get much activity while here.

Well, if they were four YOUNG kids, there'd be exercise involved. Alas, they are teens, and that means I have to drive them everywhere.
I just got back from a major workout. Did 10 minutes on bike, 20 minutes on eliptical, weights, 4 laps of breaststroke. Then my daughter and I sat in the jaccuzi before showering and going to the sauna. I feel squeeky clean and SO virtuous!Started Atkins 2d time 6/20/05

The ONLY way I get motivate myself to go to the gym is to engage in the after-workout routine. We sit in the jacuzzi for awhile. Then we go shower. Before we go into the sauna, I massage conditioner thru my hair. While we're in the sauna, I put alphahydroxy lotion all over my body and face. We sit and do deep breathing and relax.
Afterwards, we shower off and I feel SOOOO utterly fantastic!
My younger daughter (age 15) is committed to making me go every day if possible and keeping me going!Started Atkins 2d time 6/20/05

That's fantastic! I got my gym membership the end of Feb. My daughter went with me for the first few weeks but doesn't go anymore. It's hard to go alone all the time and I'm paying for 2 memberships now and only using one (got a 2 for 1 deal). It's a year contract. My hubby's schedule is crazy so he can't go with me. :no Can I borrow your daughter?

5000 steps is 2 miles? kewl! I bought the curves pedometer, and I must say I was very disapointed with it. It doesn't measure steps accuratly at all (I count my steps to test these stupid things) I tried it on my hip, in my hand, it works better in the hand but is still out hundreds of steps. I may try a different brand to see if there are very accurate ones. Unless you count your steps yourself, its hard to know how accurate it is. My 17 min walk daily is on average 1847 steps, I've had pedo readings of 1600 some, thats nasty! Not accurate at all.

And of course, while you're camping, you'll be getting a lot of walking or hiking done! Good job!Started Atkins 2d time 6/20/05

Second Time Around For Me
Well here I am back and committed to doing Atkins for a second time. Last year I did Atkins and lost 60 pounds down from 280 to 220. Then I went off and on Atkins for awhile and went back up to nearly 250. I started going to the gym 4-5 times a week in March and am down to 232. Today is the first day of my Atkins restart and I am hoping to lose 50 lbs by Christmas.
Its good to be back here!Restart 01/13/08
268/268/ 200 by June 30 2008 then who knows....

Well, I walked 4 miles last week, and this week, I aim to walk 5. As soon as the kid wakes up, I'm out on my first. It gets too hot to walk in the afternoon. I'm also hoping to swim twice this week, which really shakes the inches down for me. Have a great exercise week all!

OK, I need to make a commitment because I want to up my exercise. My commitment is:
1. sit-ups/push-ups every day: I do crunches, pelvic tilts, side crunches, push-ups, and now pelvic presses - my numbers are low but if I can do something I feel better
2. I alternate days between doing reps of squats or bicep curls, tricep curls, and side raises.
3. Walking 3 times per week. This is usually not too bad since I walk to school
4. Exercise tape or biking or gym 3 times per week. This is where I'm having a lot of trouble. It is very hot here and I don't want to go outside since I'd probably fall over from the heat! But I have exercise tapes so I need the butt kick to do these.
