Sip on some nice warm sugar free tea (decaf), chew sugar free peppermint gum or eat some sugar free jello to fill that hunger pain without eating something heavy. Go slow, it takes a few days to get rid of withdrawals. Were you a heavy caffeine drinker before induction?

          Day 6

The naseua has subsided a bit, although I still feel a little sick. I got my ketosis sticks and it shows that I'm heavily into ketosis at this point (the stick is completely purple). I'm not over my cravings though, I really wanted to have a bag of dorritos and cherry coke just like my friend was snacking on yesterday but went with the seaser salad with a double cheese burger from Jack n' the Box instead. I haven't been weighing myself because I don't want to start obsessing over it. I'm happy enough to know that I'm just heavy into ketosis because that is where it all happens anyway.

It's going to be difficult to make it to the point where my cravings ease off, so I'm not looking to stop induction after the 14 day mark.

          Question:
Can I have sugar-free jello? If so, how much of it can I?

Well, you're allowed three servings of Splenda a day....not sure sugar free jello is Splenda, or not, but I remember in the book, Dr. Atkins said it was ok. (One thing about SF stuff, it can actually add to your cravings and cause you not to lose.) He suggested it with a serving of whipped up heavy whipping cream, which, because of the high fat content, makes it more satisfying. I had to stay away, since if I made a box of it...I ate the whole da** thing. Best of luck, Ernesto! You're almost there! Way to go on resisting the carbs so far! It is hard to watch a buddy indulge, but remember what all that crap is doing to him, and what your good stuff is doing for you.

Great job hanging in there Ernesto! Personally, I would hold off on sugar free jello until you have completed induction since you are having such strong cravings. :wave

Are your cravings for sweets or salts? L-Glutamine really, REALLY helps with cravings!! It's not that expensive. Take 2,000mg a day and feel the cravings go away :joy

And drink more water....... and go for a walk!

This is my second time around and I always have my sugar free jello as a late night snack. Don't deprive yourself or you'll get depressed. Think of all the wonderful meats you get to eat with no guilt..........ahhhhhhhh nodding now? Land o lakes just came out with a carb free heavy cream whipped topping in a can. I love it, it's so creamy and still has that hint of sweet.

My ketostix never get purple though........are you drinking enough water too? Mine are always at moderate and I still lose between 1/2 to a full pound everyday during induction. Don't give up, you're doing great!

Ernesto, last year I lost 40 lbs and an amazing number of inches, going from a size 18 to a size 12. Then I was in a car accident and went off Atkins and gained it all back, PLUS.

I started again yesterday. WE CAN DO IT!

I'm sorry you feel so crappy. I never got induction flu last time, and am hoping it doesn't happen this time. But you KNOW you need to just get thru the next 24 hours and you'll be rarin' to go! Keep on truckin', REMIND yourself how easy it was last time once you got going, and....

WE'VE DONE IT ONCE, so we can do it AGAIN!

You will be ok, put your mind to it and do it. Try some other things, but stay below the 20 carbs. Good Luck!! :wave

Ernesto, try this with sugar-free jello sometime.

                          1. Pick your favorite flavor (I use lime or black cherry, myself, but it's all good!)

                          2. Soften a block of cream cheese.

                          3. Boil 2 cups of hot water. Add the jello powder.

                          4. Add in the cream cheese and mix with a mixer or blender.

                          5. Add in another 1/2 cup or cup of cold water.

                          6. Chill.

This is an excellent snack, especially if you get sweet cravings. It's got protein and fat from the cheese, too, so it will reduce any further cravings!

Debbie, I swear, it has saved me multiple times in the past. It was the first thing I made on Sunday when I was getting ready to restart induction on Monday! Sometimes just a teaspoon full will do the trick for me. Other times, I have a full serving.

Great idea! I'm going to make some to take camping (we have coolers and a fridge). That will keep me away from the sweet treats. I guess I could make some flax crackers for my salty cravings. :nod Now, I just have to make sure I don't "overdue" on the spirits! :geek
