  • NEED SUPPORT!!

    Hi, well tonight we are having a POT LUCK at work. One of my co-workers is getting married this weekend. So I was up at the crack of dawn cooking. I made a couple of salads and cookies. NO, I DID NOT EVEN LICK MY FINGERS!!! But what am I going to do tonight with all that food and not able to eat ANYTHING!! I'm scared to death i'm going to do that "oh one little bite won't hurt me", and i know darn well it will KILL what i've worked for, for 9 days!! So I ran to Target and bought a pair of pants!! LOL, A size that is a little tight on me, but i figure i'll be able to wear them before summer is over!!

    Deb, just stay strong. Someone once said imagine that food has mold all over it. Or that someone blew snot all over it and is serving it to everyone. Whatever you have leftover to bring home, just throw it in the garbage, unless you know of someone you can give it to right away.

    Try to eat legal stuff before the party. Especially high fat foods to curb the cravings.

    We feel your pain. This will be a test to yourself that you CAN do this and still enjoy parties :icondance

      You can do this!

      Whenever I go to a potluck, I bring something I know I can eat. Do you have time to run to the store and get a pre-made veggie tray or a meat and cheese tray? It makes it a lot easier to have something there that is legal to munch on.

      When in doubt, get a big glass of water and chug, chug, chug! When you want a bite, chug some more!

        You can get through this! :hug

        Try not to think about all the things you CAN'T eat, and instead focus on the ones you CAN. Stay far away from the dessert table (that is MY weakness, lol), or the chips, or whatever is most tempting to you. Everyone gave good suggestions--even bring a few legal snacks in a baggie with you in your purse if you need to.

        When I'm in a tough situation like that, I just tell myself over and over (and over and over!) "Do I want to lose weight? Do I want to be successful at this WOE? Is that cookie/chip/insert bad food worth being fat?"

          Make sure there is SOMETHING you can eat there! If it's not there, bring it yourself.

          You can eat salad. Olives. Cream cheese. Raw veggies with dip. Chicken wings. Chicken legs. Cold cuts. Cheeses.

            You are going to do fine! You have the mind set that you can do this! Everyone had great advice: eat before you go, stay close to the legal foods, bring foods that you know are legal and think of those new clothes girlfriend!!! :yes

                Well, the pot luck is over and i'm home, with a few left overs for hubby. I spose your all wondering okay so what, she brought left overs home for hubby, so what did she CONSUME? you want to know what went in my mouth, what was there that i couldn't resist? you want to know how i blew it? after 9 days of going great, with not ONE cheat under my belt, with losing weight and being the strong bull headed thing i am.

                have to tell you i'm darn proud too! Cuz you should of seen the food! I've never seen so much great wonderful looking food, (i had to look at it, I set the tables up!!) in my life!! It was fit for a King! But it didn't look good enough to eat!!!!!!!! I had a couple of pieces of pork, two paper thin slices of cheese and 2 HUGE bottles of water!! Then i just socialized and got up from the table! But i did it!!
                But i did have a hard time when the cake was being cut! We ordered a miniture wedding cake, and i could of cried cuz that is my downfall. I
                LOVE(D) cake! but i left completely for about 15 minutes and then came back, cuz i really think i would of cheated if i sat there and watched all these people eat that cake! (Lets not talk about the cake! :censor )
                So life goes on, I am woman, I am strong!!
                Probably one of my biggest reasons also, ALL OF YOU!! Thank you for your advice, your support and your friendship!! It means a great deal to me!! :hug

                        Thanks everyone!! Like I said, if it wasn't for all of you......We don't want to think what might of happened!
                        When I got home, I rewarded myself with another 32 oz. of water, and about 6 pork rinds, which I love! Then I went to bed! I was short on vegies yesterday though. I don't even think it came to two cups total.
                        But I know my water intake was up!! I was up 4 times during the night! I don't think I've ever been up that many times in one night before!

                          Maybe you were up four times in the night because your water intake was up.

                          But maybe, just maybe, the whooshie fairy was rewarding you for your discipline!!!!!!

                            Never thought of that! But sometimes I feel like the Whoosh Fairy dosn't like me much! I "think" she has visited me twice! But I've been thinking, this time seems different. Before I could smell the ketosis, I've never used the strips, I could tell by the color and the smell. This time I can't!

                            The BIG weekend is coming up and I actually have 3 days off! We have plans for each day. My hubby plays in a band and Saturday we have what they call the "SpamJam" and its outside and starts at noon and goes until midnight. That I know I can handle, I'll just have a bottle of water in my hand at all times. We're not drinkers so dont' have to worry about blowing that. As far as eating, I can always just order a burger, throw out the bun and have a few legal muchies along, celery, jicama, pork rinds. Sunday another big day at the bandshell. Also not a problem. Monday off to WI to do some hiking. Have to go to WI because the way it looks, the MN gov't can't agree on a budget so ALL state parks will be closed! What a waste of a State Park sticker on the truck! Then of course back home to watch the fire works. So I know I can handle the weekend!

                            How about all of you?? What are your plans and how are you handling your WOL?

                              You know what? You're amazing. First you handle a major social trigger PERFECTLY. Then, you have the PERFECT Atkins weekend planned. Hiking, bandshell, water.......good grief, woman! You're a role-model!!!!!
