    Brook, before my foot surgery I was walking on the treadmill. I would vary it day to day but always trying to challenge myself by increasing speed, incline or both. I would also do some weight training alternating arms/abs one day, back/legs the next.


    The stairmaster didn't hurt my foot or my hip but I didn't feel like I got a real good workout. I'll keep trying until I can get back on the treadmill.

      Well, I was up at the crack o' dawn to drive my younger daughter to school (she's a sophomore in h.s. this year). Then I came back and crashed, just woke up to the best phone call in the world - my ex finally got a job!!!!!!! (he was laid off 2 years ago and has been unemployed since. I adore him, and am so terribly happy for him! Plus I may get child support now.....)

      I have two kids who have graduated from h.s. and should be out of the house but have moved back in. I'm thrilled that they wipe their butts, etc., but they do NOT clean up after themselves!!!!!!! And their junk is more irritating to pick up than the old baby toys!!!! I love them, though.

      My baby is 11 and he will still let me cuddle him when he's sick.......

      I'm going to need some support starting tomorrow. My mother is making a suprise visit tomorrow and stays until Monday night. In a hotel, but still will be difficult. She is impossible and nobody likes her. I will not be tempted to cheat or anything, but I will be very very anxious and may need to come vent on this board. I know I can count on you guys to mellow me out!

      Ok, gotta go clean out the fridge!

        We are here for you Finelly! I haven't posted too much lately. I have just been loitering and lurking around the board every day. I have been afraid of being a bit too grumpy for you guys. I am working out a two week notice before resigning my job to stay home with the kids for awhile. My husband travels quite a lot and even though the kids are getting older, they seem to need me now more than ever. (11 & 9) I have three days left of work! Yay!

        BUT, I have used that stress as an excuse to quit exercising and to allow the carb creep in. (very little, but it is there for sure) I made a new commitment yesterday morning to get through the week in almost induction status again, BUT found another excuse. I have to have my wisdom teeth (all four) pulled around mid September. Now, why is that license to cheat? Why is that license to not exercise? I don't know, but the thoughts are lurking. Weird, huh? Anyway, I just wanted to check in because I haven't in awhile and I know you guys are the secret weapon to my success!!

        1st goal: 139 (earlier weight)
        what the rungs mean to me:
        rung 1 - more veggies
        rung 2 - dairy (some milk in coffee)
        rung 3 - seeds, nuts (mostly sprinkled on salads)
        rung 4 - berries, melon
        rung 5 - wine -
        rung 6 - beans, hummus
        rung 7 - other fruits
        rung 8 - carrots/ potatoes (nah, prolly not)
        rung 9 - whole grains (fresh Dutch breads...)
        Major Goal - 128 lbs/ healthy range
        (on to pre-maintenance)

          Nikki, congrats on the shrinkage! (Man, sure I hope I don't lose anymore in that area).

          Shannon, we will take the grumpy with the good. Come vent with us!!!

          Fin, you know we will be here for you!!!

          Thanks to everyone for the well-wishes on my little one. He's had a better day today and was able to go to daycare, so hopefully we will move past this one quickly.

          Everyone is doing so great!!!!!!

                  My day was ok. I am a nervous wreck because of my mother's suprise visit tomorrow. I have not eaten more than I should, nor have I eaten things I shouldn't. I have drunk some water, but not enough.

                  Mostly I am trying to stay fairly calm. My mom is a seriously disturbed person and is difficult for me to handle for an hour, much less 5 days. So my goal is to just survive, brain intact, without deviating from the woe.
