  • So, how will you get through this weekend?

Weekends can be pretty tough for many of us.

The schedule changes. Maybe we're out during lunchtime. Maybe there's added stress on weekends.

What weekend problem(s) do you face, and what are your strategies for getting through the weekend intact?

For me, because kids are home on the weekends, there's always food out in the kitchen it seems like! That, coupled with hubby being home throws off my schedule, and in the past I'd eat and eat and eat!

Luckily, since beginning Atkins, I've learned to channel stress and change in other ways. I'll schedule weekends (as opposed to worrying about a lack of schedul;e) and look at weekends as a time to celebrate with board games, outdoor activities and with people and not with food.

I've learned to plan, both for stress, and for where I'll be at meal time!

I've become respinsible for me, rather than letting situations rule me and using eating as a stress relief!

As well, there are always friendly and caring people at ADBB here to support you on the weekend!

I always start cooking for the weekend on Friday morning.

I make sure I prepare a few treats for the weekend that I don't normally take the time to prepare during the week, like devilled eggs and pumpkin souffle.

That way, when the entire fam damily is sitting around eating chips and dip, I get to have something special, too.

My problem is this... I am donating blood tomorrow, for a _very_ important cause, and I know they are going to want me to drink some juice, or eat something with sugar. What to do?

I would bring a couple of devilled eggs with me and explain that I am on a low-carb diet. They should be fine with it.

Did I forget to mention I am the world's biggest chicken when it comes to needles? If seeing the needle doesn't make me pass out, the blood loss will.

That is a good idea. I will have to pack a little cooler and take it with me.

Re: So, how will you get through this weekend?

I actually do better on the weekends when the bf is home. I'd hate for him to think that I couldn't say NO to foods I'm not to have. I'm not so tempted when he or really anyone else is here. It's when I'm home alone is when I have had problems in the past with cheats. Actually I've never cheated on and off...my last one and only cheat blew me completely outta this woe for 9 months.

              on donating blood Tom!

WOOT on the blood donation, Tom! I agree with Finelly and the others about packing your own low-carb snack! Blood is protein. Why a person would eat sugar after donating protein seems weird to me.

But I'm an Aquarius and I'm horoscopically blonde, so what can I say?

I've recently donated blood....and while they have juice, bagels and cookies that they would "like" you to eat, I refuse it all and just have some water. They haven't pushed me at all and I always feel ok afterwards.

Tom...hope it went ok for you
