    Re: Bits of Bios

    Ok, guess its my turn.

My name is Sarah (like you couldnt tell, lol). I am 25 years old. I was lucky enough to have found my soul mate early on and we have been together for 8 years. We have one son, 22 months old next week (cannot believe how fast it goes by). And we have our other child, a 2-year old Rottweiler named Remington. The biggest baby ever.

I also love to read. I'll read pretty much anything, but my favorite authors are James Patterson, Nora Roberts, Nicholas Sparks and Anne Rice. You cannot go wrong by reading one of their books. But with my love of reading, I like several different authors.

I first tried this way of eating in 2000. I lost 56 pounds and felt soooo great. Life changes happened, I gained the weight back, plus some. All my own fault. And here I am now - struggling, but not giving up and trying to get that "thin" feeling back.

I live in Michigan now, but grew up in Columbus, Ohio. As much as I miss Columbus sometimes, I really do love Michigan.
    Great getting to know everyone!!!!

          Re: Bits of Bios

Hello... my name is Sara and I am 26 years old. I have been married for almost 3 yrs to my husband (whom I was in 3rd grade with.) I always had a crush on him I have a 7yo daughter from a previous relationship and a 3yo son with my husband. I have lived in the same 15 mile radius for about 17 yrs now.

I love to hang out with the family....do my scrapbook....read anything having to do with the astrology signs....and dance with my daughter.

I work for an accountant which means I sit on my behind all day which I can't stand!!!

I started Atkins on May 2, 05 while getting ready to go to Hawaii for 2 weeks on 7/25/05. I started at 201 and was able to get to my goal of 170 before I left. While in Hawaii I did good but had a couple meals with a little treat. When I got home and saw that i didn't gain I guess I thought I could get away with a cheat here and there but then just couldn't jump right back on the food list for more than a day or two w/o cheating. So here I am up about 4-5 lbs and decided maybe another goal will keep me motivated. I set it for 160 by my 3rd anniversary (10/22/05.) I think also I was getting bored staying on extended induction so I may need to move on to rung 1.

Anyway- it is so nice to get to read all the bios and learn about everyone. I am excited to have found this forum and I plan on sticking around.

            Re: Bits of Bios

            ok, I'm game...
My name is Val, short for Valency, not Valerie. Yes, yes, yes, my parents were hippies and had to come up with some crazy *special* name, and over time, I've gotten to really like it, but as a kid I hated it!
I'm 33, have two girls, 8 & 4, and have been married for ten years, but our future as a couple is questionable right now. Can't say that we're soulmates, or if I even believe in such a thing. Maybe it's silly to think that one person could meet all of our needs, or maybe i'm just cynical about relationships right now, anyway, too much info, I know.

I was raised catholic, but my spiritual journey has taken many turns. I still consider myself catholic, and attend weekly mass, but have gathered bits of truth from many faiths and really hate to label myself any one thing. What's important to me is my personal relationship with the divine. I don't really care about too much dogma.

I live in Chicago where I grew up, and this city keeps getting better and better, I tell ya. I
I work as a graphic designer for a politically left national newspaper, and consider myself an artist and an activist. I'm heading out to DC next month for the massive March on Wash that is scheduled to protest the war. My faith informs my activism, and I just can't stand by while injustices are done in my name.

I started Atkins in 2003 and lost 60 lbs, then fell off the wagon. I only regained ten lbs., but I'm back to lose it, refocus on my goal, and get serious about beginning an exercise program. I just hate exercise! I'm trying to incorporate it, by hook or by crook!

            You all inspire me daily!
            HW: 217, lost 57 lbs. in 2003/04
            Restarted on 8/18/08
            SW:197 CW: 190 GW: 160
I promised myself I'd never see 200 on the scale again!

              lessseeee...

I'm 32 years old, single with no kids. Getting a ph.d which will lead me into academia hopefully. I'd like to be a professor one of these days if I ever graduate *exaggerated sigh*. I have been living in pittsburgh for 3 years. I have no religious ties whatsoever beyond being nominally catholic having been born that way. I prefer to remain faithful to what I believe is correct rather than what someone else tells me is correct (having seen some of the things people do in the name of religion). Luckily I'm a pretty straight and narrow girl or that woudln't work so well for me.

I started atkins because I had gained about 10 pounds and my parents went on it. So, I decided to start with them (we don't live anywhere near each other), and lost the ten pounds. Moved, gained weight again because of depression. Lost 15 pounds that time. Then a medicine caused me to gain about 15 plus the winter weight this past winter, so we're working on 20 this time. Do you see a pattern? I do! I'm hoping to actually keep it off this time.

My hobbies are horseback riding (when I can afford it), swimming, bocce ball, reading, hiking. I also like photography, although I'm not very consistent with that one. I love dogs and have fostered dogs from the pound in the past, but am waiting til the time is right to get my own. I want a Rhodesian Ridgeback - which are expensive intelligent big dogs. I'll get one one day though!

This has been lots of fun to read! Might as well add to the mix

I'm Brook (giant surprise, I know). I'm 32 years old, but tell everyone I'm 19 with 13 years of experience I'm currently seperated from my dh (whom I affectionately refer to as "contestant #2) - sort of. I have an almost 14 year old son, and two girls aged 9 and 5 and we all live in a western suburb of Minneapolis, Minnesota.

For the last 9 years I've been a SAHM and supported and helped my dh in all aspects of building our commercial trucking/snow plowing company. We went from being one man with one truck, one skid steer, one plow to employing upwards of 66 people in the wintertime

My youngest has extensive health issues and she was my full time job and then some for the first 4 years on this planet. I spent the last 3 years also homeschooling my middle child.

Dh & I seperated about 5 months ago. Since then I've started working full time in a group home for vulnerable adults as a counselor/life-skills teacher and I absolutely *LOVE* what I do. My guys are as much a part of my heart as my family is!

This will be my first year having days to myself. The baby is healthy enough and old enough now, she'll be started kindergarden. The middle one will be attending public school for the first time in 3 years, and the oldest is going into 8th grade! w00t w00t! I'm still not sure what I plan to do withmyself for the first quarter of school! Wait! Yes I do! I'm going to NAP!

Hobbies: Computers in general, graphics, lipstick, perfume, exercise videos, and serious amounts of bootay shakin' on the weekends! I read tons of diet/nutrition books, Harry Potter, and the occasional historical romance. I enjoy cleaning (yes..I know..weird, but I *like* order) and cooking as well.

I think that about sums me up

                  Re: Bits of Bios

                  I'll bite...

I'm Debbie (duh) and I live in West Jordan, Utah, which is a suburb in southwest Salt Lake. I remarried last August to my soulmate (finally). He has 2 boys from his previous marriage (27 & 24) both are married and the 24 y/o will be a daddy any day! I have 2 daughters, 31 & 26. Neither are married and they will never make me a grandma

I am a cat freak. I currently have 2 cats and I love them more than my kids (yes they know it). I love all animals, but I let the cats own me.

I was in the military for 14 years where I learned a lot about myself and "grew up". I would love to finish out my 20, but I don't choose to go to war so I may not meet that goal.

I was a single mother for most of my life. That is definitely something that can toughen you up!

I work for a company that owns radio stations. It started out fun, but since they cut out all the quirks (free tickets, shirts, bonuses) it's just a job. My hubby is the best salesman in the entire world! All of his customers LOVE him. It worked on me!

I am non-denominational as far as religion. I don't believe in organized religion. I don't discuss religion or politics with anyone who is not open-minded or non-judgemental.

I started Atkins in March 2004 to lose my weight before getting remarried. I lost 15 lbs but didn't make goal. There was a week between the wedding and our honeymoon cruise and I got right back on plan, *knowing* that I would have no problems because there is plenty of legal food on the cruise ships. Well, I couldn't find any. I gained some weight back, got back on plan when we got home and did ok. I had an emergency appendectomy the day after Thanksgiving and had a hard time getting back on track.

I'm here now. Things are going ridiculously slow for me despite doing what I'm suppose to be doing. I'll hang in there. You all are an incredible support to me!

i'm a 24 year old male (25 in Sept). i am 100% convinced that aside from my loved ones, Ford Mustangs are the greatest things in the entire world. i own 3 of them. i'm fat. so i don't eat sugar and carbs anymore. this is my 3rd serious attempt at atkins.

the first time, i was 100% successful. i hit my goal and never felt or looked better in my life. so bad things went down and i turned to fast food as my vice. needless to say... i struggled with my weight again for over a year. then i did it again. once again successful... but wasn't back long enough to hit my goal... but i was damn near there. this time, i have found myself to be heavier than i have ever been in my life... however, after 2 weeks back on Atkins, i'm a couple lbs shy of my starting weight on my second attempt. i gotta make it stick.

oh yeah, i'm a Senior Airman in the US Air Force, holding a line number for Staff Sergeant.

oh and i have an incredible looking wife. she's bad ***... still not too sure how i ended up with her.

Ok, Finelly... Here it is. Now you had better drink that water!

Well, my name is Tom, and I am a 27 year old Christian man here in Southern California.

I am currently single, but looking (shameless plug ). I am an IT Systems Specialist for a very large school district, which houses more than 13,000 computers. I work with an awesome group of people, who are like my second family. They have been supportive beyond belief during my time on Atkins.

I am very much a family man, as I feel family, loved ones, and friends make life worth living. I try not to let a single day go by without letting out a soulful laugh. I am a little bit goofy, and enjoy a good practical joke, but have a very serious all-business side when need be. I don't typically watch TV, but I enjoy movies. I love to read and just finished Angels and Demons by Dan Brown, and am in the middle of Stranger in a Strange Land by Heinlein. I am currently working on my second degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do, and having a great time doing it. I take Judo as well, but am a neophyte at best.

I started Atkins a little over a year ago because I tore the button off of my favorite shirt squeezing into a booth at a restaurant. While I never fell off the bandwagon, I came very close... which lead me here. I am very glad to have found the STAC forum, as it houses a great group of people. I have lost 120 some odd pounds to date, and hope to hit my fitness and weight goal by this time next year.

I don't have any pets, but wouldn't mind having a dog or cat. When I was a toddler I used to ride around on the back of our St. Bernard (named Bruno) .

Like cleo, I sometimes live vicariously through my nose and enjoy smelling illegal foods.

Well, I guess that about wraps it up.

                            - Tom

Hi. My name is Kimberly, and I am a single mom of three wonderful little men. I have been going it alone for 5 years now, and am just kind of waiting on God to show me what He has for me, difficult waiting at best, because all I ever wanted to be when I grew up was a wife and a mommy. So I get the mommy part! My kids are my world, my oldest is my sun, he shines with amazing force, my middle is my moon, his personality is a joyful, steady glow, and my youngest is my stars... he sparkles, almost literally, with joy. My personal life theory is faith, family, friends and fun. I am an avid reader, a lifetime learner, and dying to finish my degree. In what is up for debate, I would love to pursue architecture, as I love to design life friendly houses. I watch too much tv after the kids are in bed, like to lift weights, though to use Tom's words, I am a neophyte at best, and am going to run a mile if it kills me. We library, hike, museam, go to zoos and aquariums, science centers, just about anything that is fun and out of the house. I quilt, crochet, sew, design, and would love to get my hands on some power tools to try my hand at making furniture. I am also, as soon as we are out of this house, going to have the most amazing vegetable and dwarf fruit tree patio garden ever. I am a By the Book Christian, Righter than Rush, and still love all sorts of people from all walks of life. I love talk radio, Robert Jordan, Christian rock and alternative and Scifi. SIgh. And I am overweight, and learning bit by bit to bring it back under control. I am NOT, however, down any inches this week.
