HA HA HA. You think we have an IT guy? Budget cuts, remember! (or don't you have that at your district?) The computer help desk doesn't even ANSWER the phones. We don't have an IT guy at the school.

              Re: Bits of Bios

Hello, everyone – I just joined a few days ago. My name is Sarah, I am 46 years old and I am a chemical engineer, fiancée to a wonderful man and Mom to 2 boys ages 10 and 20. We are getting married at the end of December, so that is what lit a fire under me to lose some weight. That, and I am down to one pair of jeans and I have a whole closet full of smaller ones that are calling to me.

I have struggled with my weight ever since I had my first son at age 25 – prior to that I could eat just about anything I wanted to and stayed thin. I am 5’2” and I thought I was “fat” when I got to 125 pounds – I should BE SO FAT now, hehehahahoho…….

My fiancée is a portrait artist and stays at home to run the house, take care of the yard and help me with my youngest (oldest has moved out). I go to work everyday, so our roles are essentially reversed. I really enjoy having dinner ready when I get home, the housework caught up and all the errands run. He is not overweight, but he is doing Atkins with me to support me. Our dream is buy some land in the south somewhere and build a house that is totally self-supporting energy-wise and raise sheep and dogs. We also want to plant a fantastic garden and have room for guests so we can open our land up for both spiritual and artist retreats. I have recently learned to spin wool using a drop spindle and would love to have a spinning wheel.

My first experience with Atkins was 30 years ago when my Dad and I went on it together. He was trying to lose some weight and I needed to drop about 6 or 7 pounds, so we did it together. I know 7 pounds doesn’t sound like much, but when you are close to your ideal weight it can be very hard to lose that last bit. It worked great for me and I lost the extra pounds. I went on it again 3 years ago with my oldest son who has been overweight all his life. He lost 60 pounds and I lost 30. We didn’t stick with that WOE, so we both eventually gained it all back. I wish I hadn’t quit since I had more than 30 to lose, but I did and I am back. And I am so happy to have found a forum for ideas, recipes and support. You guys are great!

There sure are a lot of "sarah's" on this thread!

saraa281, you look great! You have lost so fast, but you are only 26 and you have youth on your side. I have already gone through menopause, so I don't have TOM visiting me anymore (sure don't miss him), but my weight loss is even a bit slower now. I am exercising to boost my metabolism and that helps. I told myself I didn't want to be "fat and forty", but didn't quite make it. I hope to be much slimmer by my 47th b-day on Jan 4 and I hope to be at goal by summer 2006. I used to shoot for 135-140, but I would be thrilled with 150 - especially if I am in shape.

                    Hello everyone
I'm 33 going on 23 have been with my partner for 11 years although we only got married last year - it took him 9 years to propose! We live in Surrey, England near the River Thames.
We have just had our first baby, a gorgeous little girl called Georgia. I am loving being a Mum and doubt that I will return to work (used to sell Broadcasting Equipment to TV stations).
I am a bit run down about my weight as I had almost hit target when I got pregnant (on honeymoon) and am now heavier that ever. It was sooo worth it though of course. I am back on track now and joined my health club again today.
Lovely to read about you all.

                      Hello and Welcome Zarabelle !

Congratulations on the birth of your baby daughter, it's a great
time for you right now !

It's still very early days for you at the moment, so kind to yourself.
Weight will still coming off naturally after the birth, however
Atkins is a great way to get trim. After the birth of my son,
now nearly 1, I went on Atkins directly after delivery.

It's great to have another UK member on board, I used to live in
                      Farnam some years back.

                      Good luck

                        Hi Sally!

I used to live in Farnham too!!! Lower Bourne to be precise. Small world!

I know I shouldn't get too hung up on my weight but I am.... my husband gets really annoyed with me as I don't want any pics or video with me in it - even with the baby. I know it's sad but I just feel so huge. Anyway, it's coming off now and the gym two or three times a week should help.

Wow, what a wonderful thread! How nice it is to have so many charming and interesting people here in STAC (which, as anyone who's been here for a while knows, is my favorite forum).

I know this will come as a great shock, but my name is Chris. Actually, it's Christian, but no one calls me that.

I'm a 57 year old gay male, and I live with a great guy named Michael. Michael is 40 and biracial (black/white) -- and I think he's pretty darn special.

Religionwise, I'm a Catholic from the southern U.S. (and there must be a least two or three more of us!), although I attend services at Dignity, which is a worldwide organization for gay/lesbian Catholics, who realize that God made us the way we are, and that we, too, have the right to worship Him.

My early career dreams were to be an actor, but after my one professional equity job in a summer stock production of "West Side Story" in 1969, I decided, for several reason, that it wasn't for me (although I did a number of lttle theater and dinner theater shows for several years after that). So, I fell back on what I knew -- French. I was a high school French teacher for 15 years.

I loved the students, and the classroom milieu, but disliked so many of the other things that went along with teaching. I went back to school, part time, to earn a master's degree in computer science. I then moved to Washington, DC, and have worked, in various places, as a network systems analyst. This past summer I moved to a house in Arlington, VA, where I'm within walking distance of work.

I work for a wonderful non-profit organization that does much good work. It also affords me the opportunity to travel, every few years when we upgrade our systems, so that I've been in many interesting places in the U.S., and was lucky enough to work several months during the last deployment, in England, Spain, and Italy.

I am a former Moderator -- and Admin! -- of ADBB, but fell from grace because of some pretty unhappy personal reasons. I regained 27.5 pounds of the 62 that I'd lost, but I've been back here, with a vengeance, for several months now, and as of my last weigh day before I left for the holidays, I've "given back" 14.5 of those refound pounds.

I'm so glad that you're all here -- STAC really is so much like a family. A great big to every one of you -- and wishing you all a blessed and happy holiday season.
                            -Chris

Alrighty MY Name is Laura and I am From NOrtheastern PA.I am 26 years old and have no kids. Going through a seperation/divorce right now. I have a cat named Tooter Fish (anyone know the reference?) and a puppy named either Puppy or Tater Tot, it depends on why I am calling her name!

I joined the US. Air Force straight out of high school and did that for about 3 years.
Was starting to gain then, but it got a lot worse when i got home. Got up to 225 which I eventually lost by working at a physical 3rd shift job, drinking Mountain Dew Amp, taking a Stacker 2 a night, hardly eating anything, and sleeping all day.

Unfortunately the job went away after I got married and the pounds packed back on even more so taking me up to 237.

So here I am trying this whole atkins thing... today is day 14 and I will weigh tomorrow morning. I have done a clean, cheat free, no Franken Foods induction!!! Chances are I will probably stay here for a while longer before I move to OWL.

Currently I am a member of the Pennsylvania Army National Guard. And I recently completed school for Phlebotomy. I work at a local ski resort that pays me crappymoney, but lets me ski for free. However, tomorrow (wednesday) am I have a job interview for a full time position with the American Red Cross. Woohoo

                              And that's my story......

Okay, my turn. My name is Shannon and I currently live in Orlando, FL. I am originally from Panama City, but we have lived all over the place. My dh is active duty US Army. We have been married for 15 years last week, but have known each other since we were kids.

I have two kids, 10 and 12. Aren't these the fun years?

I work for a defense contractor in the same building as dh, but he travels all the time.

I just graduated from boot camp, woohoo, so I am well on my way with all the tools I will ever need.

I did atkins two years ago with huge, huge success. Of course, I gained it back and here I go again working on a lifetime change!
