  • STAC Book Challenge Poll

I was thinking that it would be nice to have a challenge here in STAC where we all read a chapter a week and discuss what we're read as it pertains to Atkins, weight loss, and other issues we face along the way.

Of course we'd give ample time to get the book from the library or Amazon.com before beginning.

With that in mind, if you are in fact interested, would you want to start with:

    1) Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution

    2) Dr Phil's Ultimate Weight Loss Solution (deals with emotional and psychological issues)

    3) Outsmarting the Female Fat Cell By Debra Waterhouse

If there is no interest, I will start going through these myself, chapter by chapter, and probably in my journal. If there is interest, then it could be posted here rather than in the challenges section.

No hard feelings if there is no interest! If you are interested, but not at this time, please note when you think this is something that might interest you.

I plan to start one of these books again after Boot Camp concludes.

I voted for Phil b/c he is a Texan, and I have never read his book. Also because I believe my weight problems are psychological. When were you planning on doing this? B/c I'll need to pick up the book

    Good idea!

I just so happen to have Dr Phil and have started it a few times so this would be the way to finally sink my teeth into it should it be chosen.

LOL..... um.... as per Harry Potter I think the skrewts are high-carb...

I'm all on board for Dr Phil.

Let's start a week from Monday with that book, unless the paradigm shifts and we have a lot of people itching to get into Dr Atkins' book.

That gives everyone a week to get hands on the book. If someone needs more time to get a copy, we can talk about it. It's worth buying and amazon.com sells 'em cheap.

            Sound good?

I am defo up for reading Dr Phil's book if I can get it here. Will it be complimentary to Atkins though? If it will have a whole new diet/WOE in it, I don't think I will go there.

Ignore the eating plan Phil gives. It's only mentioned at the very end of the book. The vast majority of the book is about psychology.

Boot camp doesn't end until next Sunday, so there's still plenty of time to get the book! We won't start until the following Monday, so Nikki--you're a-ok!

I've never met a skrewt that didn't taste good without some good Rosemuerta Stout!

I think this is going to be an awesome gift we give to ourselves:

                          1) Working through this together

                          2) Sharing ideas and thoughts

                          3) All being on a positive wavelength before the holidays! This timing is going to be amazing!

                          I'm psyched!

I own the Debra Waterhouse book and it is another excellent apporach to understanding why females have such a hard time losing weight.

Whereas Dr Phil deals with the psychology, and Atkins deals with the diet, she deals mostly with physiology, with tips for exercise and controlling emotional eating. It's definitely a must-read by one of my favorite authors regarding weight loss. I wouldn't ascribe to her eating plan (much as with Dr Phil), but there is enough worth reading in the book that I felt it deserves a listing!
