Re: What made you all choose Atkins??

I guess I should also answer this question as well, since I posed it int he first place!

Well, when I was a little girl I was told by my grandmother that I was "fat", although looking at me y ou would never have really known, I maybe had a bit of meat on me, but I guess compared to my two really skinny sisters, I would have stood out a bit as having more weight on me..... that started at the age of 10.....

Through my teenage years I had bad self esteem, always thought I was fat...I know I weighed around 140 pounds or so in high school, and when I look at my high school pictures now, I can't believe I thought i was fat...I tried the Diet Centre which is one of those weight loss places where you go every day actually and you take their supplements and other things, and they give you a diet to follow....
I ended up losing my period for almost a year though.....because of this...

When I was starting university I gained 15 - 20 pounds....then I managed to lose about 15 of those pounds over a few months by using a smiliar diet to the Diet Centre (mostly salads and chicken and some flat breads)

and then my weight snuck on me over the years due to an unhappy first marriage, pregnancy, stress in university while studying (cheese and nachos used to be a staple diet for me lol ).

I did try Jenny Craig but it costs an arm and leg practically plus I was always hungry using their program. You can only eat their food, unless you buy their cookbook and cook their food yourself...but you have to eat their food.

Last time I tried Jenny Craig was about 2 1/2 years ago...it did work, but it put a big dent into my finances.... was spending around....$600 Canadian dolllars a month just on their food.....but I did notice that I was hungry a lot which was frustrating.....

I lost around 30 pounds.... (from 310 - 280) and once I stopped going there I gained a bit of weight back...

I tried Atkins because a neighbour of mine back in Canada was on it and managed to lose about 40 pounds in only a few months time...that was all she had to lose...

I do know that Atkins does work, and I believe int he concept of the WOE. I know that the excessive carbs are very bad for me, it is like an addiction. I didn't know about this addiction until I tried Atkins...

All sorts of things I notice when I'm on Atkins...like my cravings go down my hunger goes down...i get filled up nicely on Atkins, unlike when I was on Jenny Craig.

    There's my two cents worth!!!
