  • Any Confessions/ Goals as we begin the new week?

What is a place you feel you could have worked harder this week? Did you fall off the wagon? Forget to exercise? Have negative thoughts about yourself that were unfounded?

Make a goal for this week based on something you might have opted to do differently last week. Do you plan to drink more water? Exercise more? Stay on plan this week? Say something kind to yourself everyday?

For me, I was only able to exercise 4 days last week. This week I'd like to make it a minimum of five days.

Re: Any Confessions/ Goals as we begin the new week?

OK, confessions are good for the soul right? I'm in.
This week my eating has sucked. And besides that I haved smoked about 5 cigarettes this weekend. The previous week I had done a great induction, had ketosis going strong, had not smoked for 2 weeks, and completely blew it. Lots of things going on, but it doesn't matter. I lost complete control and I feel like crap over it.
So, what am I going to do about it?
Well, thank GOODNESS Tom has arrived! That will help me be able to get my *** back on track tomorrow. I did manage to get 5 miles in on the bike tonight. First real exercise in a while. With that, I will commit to getting my butt back into induction to get myself back into ketosis. Back into exercising 5 days a week, 30 minutes minimum. NO MORE CAVING TO SMOKING! What a friggin idiot I am! Almost 3 weeks smoke free and I BLEW IT!!
Sigh. OK, so. This week I AM BACK!!!!

      Good Morning!

Good thread Cleo. Barb sorry to hear that you have been having a hard time and those nasty cigarettes got you but it sounds like you have caught yourself in time enough not to continue and you are ready to kick some low carb butt!

My eating has been all over the place. Exercise has been almost non existant. This week I am going to concentrate on me. My time and energy has been all about everyone else and on projects I am working on. I havent made time to prepare and am constanty eating on the run. Its time to get back to what it important and remember my goals.

So this week. I will work on getting my water in and making better food choices. I will also get back here daily and spend time using the board for the support I need.

Now off to work. Not a real fan of Mondays lately!

Re: Any Confessions/ Goals as we begin the new week?

I ate pretty good this weekend, no major blowouts. Im not saying I didnt have one thing I shouldnt have, but no major down and dirty eating sessions. Dont think Ive lost any weight since Thursday, but thats ok.

I have surgery on Thursday, so I am going to do my weigh in at 5 AM before my trip to the hospital. Ill post say my Hi and Hellos and off I go to be sliced and diced. I probably wont be around much after Thursday for a few days till Im able to function without drugs.

This week I hope to atleast lose 3 pounds, doubt it will happen because of my cheat day and not drinking water this weekend. Im going strong today and will all week. I figure ill be good then Thursday is surgery, Friday Ill be so drugged up, my mom is coming to help me ill have her cook me some allowable foods, and then im supposed to go out to dinner on Saturday for my husbands Bday. I dont know HOW im going to manage that, they may have to bring me some takeout

Off to a three day work week, thats a positive! Everyone have a good Monday!

Re: Any Confessions/ Goals as we begin the new week?

I did well this past week...finally even lost something...1/2 lb. Not a lot but it's the first change in a long time

What I could have done better with is the at home exercise. Part of the week I wasn't feeling well, but should have picked up by the end of the week. So...this week I will go for at least 2 mornings of weights or tapes.

Cleo, you always come through for me. Thank you so much for this thread. I wasn't about to post, but since you ask, I totally blew it this week-end. After three straight weeks of awesome induction and feeling better and doing great, I blew it over the dumbest thing. Let's see it happened at work on Friday at lunch time. I met my husband at our picnic table where we eat. He forgot my lunch! He alwways brings my lunch. He said he thought I had it already, but he said he would share with me!!! He had leftover pizza! SO, I thought I would be so so good and have only one little piece and wait until I got home to eat. I did do that, but around two in the afternoon I got really hungry. By three, I guess that I decided I would rather go off my diet and gain weight and feel terrible rather than wait a measly two hours, so I had a cookie, no I had two cookies. Big ones. Of course, after the pizza and the cookies, I had blown my diet, so I thought I would have something good for dinner before I got back on ... that lasted all week-end! Here I am Monday morning starting again! Confession is good for the soul, though. My Lesson here?! Always be prepared. Always!!!!

Re: Any Confessions/ Goals as we begin the new week?

                You guys are so awesome!

Oh {{{Tracy}}} Honey! You know I love you! You're ok! If you need to talk, I'm here. I know how tough it is.

{{{Shannon}}} Oh, I know all too well how one piece of seemingly-innocent pizza burgeons into a gastronomic frenzy for more and more carbs! It wouldn't be sop bad were carbs not so incredibly tasty and if they didn't have a manical grip on our bloodsugars! Be prepared for the incoming water weight. The sodium you had will amount for a couple pounds of water weight. Drink water, hang in there and if you need to shriek, cry or talk, you know I'm always here for you!

{{{Spikette}}} It sounds like you are definitely doing faboo! I am really proud of you for the effort you make. You are an awesome woman!

{{{shashee}}} I'm so proud of you! I can tell by your tone of voice that you are feeling as marvellous as you look...and dahhling--- you lllllllook mmmahvellous!

{{{Terry}}} Oh how I've missed you! Never write...never call... I'm so sorry to hear you've stayed away due to stuff, but I know how it goes! You will be back on plan and an exercise hootchie mama, and all will, once again, marvel as you stand with your hands on your hips and your superwoman cape flipping in the breeze!

{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{Barb}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}} }}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}} Girl, if you have any idea how long you've been an inspiration to me! We all have setbacks, and PMS is such a rotten thing for anyone. It makes us wonky, tired and our defenses down. You look beautiful and you are beautiful! I know you will lick it and be back on track! I know it!

Re: Any Confessions/ Goals as we begin the new week?

I've been overwhelmed w/ hosting guests, both short and long term and family dinners, somehow the guests always end up at our house and i'm exhausted! We've had a house guest for a while but he spent the night elsewhere and won't be here till this evening; i had no idea how much a less than 48 hr stretch of no guest would help me get back on track. This past month I've been cheating only w/ a little chocolate here and there and a pastry occasionally and this messes me up totally. Dr A was right when he said that one small cheat is the kiss of failure (kiss of death in previous edition)...it's been so hard to get past not cheating but since Saturday evening i've been back on track (here, it's Tuesday afternoon) and my cravings are gone!!! Our long term house guest is flying out next week and he will be visiting someone else for one or two nights on the weekend! We're glad he's staying w/ us but the cooking and hosting all those that want to spend time w/ him has got me to a place where i didn't want to be.

On a more positive note, during this month of cheating my weight fluctuated about
3-4 pounds and right now i'm at 181 which is just a pound more than before all the guests & hosting began, so even though i didn't meet my end of October goal, at least i didn't gain too much. In the coming weeks we are invited to several events and celebrations, but i'm trying hard to brace myself and stay away from any desserts, I have no desire for pasta, potatoes etc, so maybe we'll just leave some events early before dessert is served!

I'm proud to say that i feel back on track...now about exercise...i'm tackling one issue at a time...the exercise will kick in more intensely as i stay in control of my eating.

Went back to eat Chinese again last night (DH's favorite place) and I got impatient and ate buffet. BAD GIRL, BAD JACKIE BLUE!!! While I tried to eat only the vegetables and non-sauce stuff, I know there was sugar or sweetener in it. My punishment (besides feeling bloated) is the nasty chest cold that I'm developing. I am going to keep hydrated and drugged up but will persevere.

shashee - you will be in my prayers for a successful surgery and fast recovery. Please keep us all posted.

Let's see...I didn't exercise last week and did not drink enough water over the weekend...

I will set a goal to work out three times between now and Sunday...And I will also drink at least 100 ounces of water each day.

I am a bit bummed...I only lost 3 pounds on my first week of induction...oh well...that's better than nothing!

Ok, I have a confession. I was bad all weekend. My husband is in the Navy and he's been away for 2 weeks. I got to talk to him on Saturday and it just threw me over the edge. I was so sad and after being good all week I used it as an excuse to eat whatever I wanted. The worst part is I didn't gain any weight until Monday came along and I went back to work. I told myself I was going to start fresh but it was Potluck day at work. I didn't do well at all even though I had brought a low-carb chicken salad to contribute to the Potluck. I am really disappointed in myself, but it feels better to confess and put it out there. That way I am accountable and not just keeping it to myself.

Today I have started back on induction and I am going to work out after work. i feel good now that this is all out in the open. Thank you for making me be accountable for my actions.
