    Re: Sooooo.... How'd we dooo?

I done good! It was all yummy and the stuff I couldn't eat smelled really good. I happen to know that for me, SNIFFING the forbidden stuff is just as good as eating it, so I had my face close to the stuffing when I was putting it in a serving dish and was completely satisfied. (and no, I didn't sneeze in it, either, lol)

I was a good girl, too, though my portions may have been out of whack. Leftover turkey with mayo, sweet pickles (w/splenda) & salt is all I looked forward to anyway...didn't miss the bread at all.

Going grocery shopping tomorrow so I will have no excuses for not eating properly. Plan, plan, plan!!!!

        Re: Sooooo.... How'd we dooo?

Uh, to a purist (like I used to be) I didn't do so hot. But after several months of a nonsensical "It's all or nothing" mentality, I did FABULOUS!

I made 5 pies, only one low-carb. Since it was apple, that wasn't low-carb enough to have more than a small piece after lots of protein and fat. I had a sixteenth of a teaspoon of all the junk my family told me I just HAD to eat. I have been feeling kind of run-down so I didn't make all the good stuff I could eat, so I had some very dry turkey, NOT smothered in gravy (although my brother said it would be okay, he used Wondra) a pile of green beans, and some smashed turnip which I have formerly hated but which is pretty good when you're hungry!

The bad news is that upon entering my brother's house, I accidentally swallowed a small cookie (traditional Czech fruit cookie) without even thinking. I tried to repair the damage with some cheese, but it probably knocked me out of ketosis!!!! I still can't believe I didn't use that as an excuse to eat everything in sight. That is my usual modus operandi!! And one that was quite encouraged by all there except my sweet DH. I hope this signals that I am developing better habits, and seeing how stupid it is to let one slip turn into a binge. I always intend to get back on the wagon "the next day" but that day never comes -- for WEEKS. I didn't want to let that happen once again.

Okay, my definition of fabulous wasn't that great--- but it is a personal victory for me!!! I'm rolling with it!!

          Re: Sooooo.... How'd we dooo?

Well I finally had my feast tonight. Everyone loved the garlic brined roast Turkey and low carb sausage stuffing. The mashed Cauliflower were so-so -- I really think I have to get a food processor to get the texture right. The stabd mixer is 0 for 2 in consistency. They were edible, but not as good as they should be. We did have one near disaster. In basting the turkey during the final 425 degree race to brown the top, I overshot the Turkey with the baster and turkey juice (typical guy). Of course at that temp, the oven and room starts feeling with smoke... ARGH, luckily the turkey was done at that point, and the oven temp could be lowered.

          Hits:
          Turkey
Low Carb Sausage Stuffing (low carb bread this time (4g/slice) not flax bread)
          Low Carb 7-Layer Salad
          Low Carb Strawberry Fluff
          Low Carb Green Bean Casserole
All the sweets (you can't make Atkineers out of everybody) we prepared, but I of course didn't taste any
The new treadmill - they all liked it, and enjoyed the story of the 10k

          The also rans:
          Vegetable tray
          Cheese tray

          Misses:
Mashed Cauliflower (blame the appliances not the cook)
Atkins Revolutionary Rolls - they had no taste, and certainly weren't worth the hand whipping the egg whites

All in all, it was a great holiday, and I think the wife's side were just a bit impressed that we pulled off a good holiday. To repay the food blessings I received, I did an exercise offering of 2.5 miles a few hours afterwards. Never hurts to give back especially when there is exercise involved.

              Re: Sooooo.... How'd we dooo?

So glad that everyone was so good for Thanksgiving. Canuck thanksgiving is long over but it was tuff! Thankfully I now have a nice new treadmill, one of those walking arm thingies (like cross country skiing with weights you can add or take off) My 1 hour of walking outside was never as strenuous as my 1 hr of treadmill walking. Now I have to pace myself in 15 minute increments haha. but The weight is coming off nice and the tone is showing, I LOVE it! It goes much faster when you can watch TV.

Glad to see ya! Good for you getting a treadmill. That will be great for cold weather... which Im sure you are deep into this time of year.

I hope to have one some day too!

                    Re: Sooooo.... How'd we dooo?

I saved quite awhile for it, the first real snow we had here, I went out for my daily walk, worked up the usual sweat, cooled off a little too much maybe and got darn good and sick. Soooo, I stepped up on making that last treadmill payment and went and bought it. Its harder to do (but warmer) and now my arms are getting toned. Sorry I am not around as much, Christmas parties for the past month and this month make for one bushed little DJ!
Had a nice compliment from the manager of one of the country clubs we just performed at. She said "what? are you melting?" like music to my ears! I SO want to be in Onederland before Xmas, I will keep my fingers crossed. This treadmill is helping me stay motivated. Big Hug everyone!
