  • Alright, own up. Who fell off this week and....

plans to dust it off, jump back on and get this started again. I have heard from a couple of you guys so I know I am not alone...... But I didn't do well at all and I just wanted you to know that I am guilty of not making it thru the holidays, but I am not going to give up just because I am mad at myself.
    I will do it....

I think she probably has. Either that or she is coming after you personally?

Re: Alright, own up. Who fell off this week and....

Talk about Kismet, right after I posted this, I found an old post in a notebook I had. It was addressed to Pammie who had lost about a 100 pounds and then stalled for a very long time. Her stall finally made her try a new diet and it included carbs. It doesn't say who the author is (or was) but I recognize 2big's words and I asked her if I could reprint it.

Oh Pammie I can so feel your pain. I gave up my cheat free this spring and went from doing adkins by the book, to struggling to get 2 days back-to-back that were cheat free. My brain said "this is ridiculous you have done it cheatfree for so long why can't you do it that way now?". It really opened my eyes to why some of the successful old ways from the old DANDR were eliminated by Dt A. in the 2002 DANDR like using the refeeds and fat fast for stall busting. They work but then....

We experienced some new chemicals flooding our systems in addition to turning off the leptin while we were eating those healthy and unhealthy higher carb foods and our brain knows it and knows certain feelings are associated with those chemicals that were released. It is trying to get you to that state again by craving certain foods it thinks will make you feel that way again. It is amazing the brain chemicals certain foods can be used to mimic. We need to find another way to get those feelings again without using glucose driven chemical reations.
You are stressed and your brain knows calming mimicing chemicals can be liberated from those cheating foods. Just like drug addits use illegal drugs to passify those areas of their brains we use foods to do the same thing and have learned throught yrs of eating what foods give us what effect.
Your are going to have to strap yourself in and do an addition cleaning induction type eating for a few days to rev up your ketosis and then slowly reintroduce your carbs from the carb ladder again. I made the mistake of getting my ketosis back strong and jumping back up the carb level I had been at before the binge. While we were binging our bodies made enzymes and other carriers molecules to move those carb fast to the burn sites. Just as when we first started Dt Atkins said we needed to eat the OWL foods in the correct order and see how they effected us our new revved up carby body needs to be shut back down and run in the ketogenic mode.
For me returning to my extra treadmilling as a craving avoidance gave me the extra endorphines it released and that was just the help my will power needed to get back to Atkins again. This is a critial point for you . Many successful big losers have walked in your shoes and never been able to return to low carbing and become big gainers again. Please give it your all and over come this . Will be praying for you.
You need to look inside yourself and see what you can find to drive your want to lose weight again. Yep we are smaller now and healthier so the drastic drive to lose weight is gone.

So Lynne jumped off the wagon? Glad you jumped back on fast. now glue yourself back in and repeat after me I need to be healthy. I need to properly eat my Atkins to be healthy again.
I can't hear those high carb sireens calling my name cause I silenced them with my Atkins higher fat foods that satisfied my hunger and released pleasure chemicals when they were rolled round in my mouth and contacted those sensors in it.
I know ketosis is only a day away with its appetite suppression and all the other great feelings coming my way from eating and working my Atkins plan.
there is no high carb food on earth that tastes or feels good enough in my mouth to make me harm myself for. ( I know low blow there but it is true we harm ourselves when we cheat)

Hey, I'm not worried. Lynne and I have quite a history, and if there's one thing I've learned about that women is that she can do just about anything she sets her mind to do!

Alright...I had a piece of fudge last week....and let me tell ya, it WAS NOT WORTH IT!!

I felt like total crap for 2 days. I mean it was all I could do to shower and get dressed. It was like the worst hangover I've ever had in my life. Blah! Fortunately, that experience was all I needed to get right back in line and I didn't gain, but I've not lost any weight yet since then either. It'll come.

remember as Irishirish used to post it is a slippery slope and very easy to slide back down the ground you worked so hard to climb up already. fight! fight hard to get back that I love my Atkins feeling and run fast from that back to your oldself ways. I still have a pic of my 300+ pound self to keep me headed the right direction.

Here's a big to all those of you who fell from that wagon seat. I certainly can't criticize -- after all I am a member of the Second Time Around Club, right? I know how hard it is to get back on that wagon -- but I also learned that I could do it. And the rewards have been fantastic. I'm back to being in control, I'm steadily getting closer to goal, and, once again, I'm full of the energy I had decades ago.

C'mon, guys. You CAN do this. I love every one of you too much to lose you from the club. I want to see each of you reach the final destination of your Atkins journey!

                              Ah... just one more!
