  • okay I may be jinxing myself

    Well I may be jinxing myself but I hope not . Is it normal for me to be losing my hunger already (I am only on day 6) I am really already having to force myself to eat a little at the six hour mark. I still get a little hungry at night, which has alway been my hungry time, but other than that I really am not getting any hunger pains at all. Also, first things in the morning I am not really hungry at all and really have to force myself to eat a bite I was wondering all the atkins shakes something that would hinder my weight loss right now...I have read up on them and they are induction friendly, but I just don't want anything to slow up my weight loss. Any suggestions.

    Ketosis generally kicks in on day three which causes the decrease in hunger. It may have taken a little bit longer for you. This is normal. I assume since you've been reading this board and working on a lifestyle change that two additional things are happening: 1) you're being far more careful in evaluating WHAT you're eating and WHEN you're hungry instead of just eating to eat like most people do and 2) You're drinking TONS of water. These combined with ketosis will have an effect on your hunger levels for sure.

    Atkins shakes are full of weird ingredients (we try to stay as natural as possible on Induction) as well as artificial ingredients. My recommendation is wait until your 2 weeks are over and then add at your own risk. If they cause you to stall or induce other cravings then you will know for sure what the problem is.

    The point of eating every 6 hours is to keep your blood glucose levels stabilized. It's very difficult for many of us, especially those of us who work or have a hard time stomaching breakfast in the morning, but it's an important thing to consider. Try small high fat snacks such as celery and cream cheese, ham and cheese roll ups, and hard boiled eggs at your six hour marks. The high fat snacks will keep you full, are good for you and keep your body moving.

      actualy ketosis kicked in on day two the hunger has slowly been dissapating since then...I haven't thought about the ham and cheese roll ups...the breakfeast issue is my biggest...I am just not a breakfeast eater...unless we are talking some cinnamon rolls...lol...anyway as far as eating when I am hungry I am still having a problem with that since I am having a problem with getting hungry except at night and to be honest with you I am trying to kick the habit of eating at night. I have always heard it is not the best time to eat. I guess my body is just backwards...I have always been a night owl and a bad morning person. I guess my body just livens up at night. And maybe that is why I get more hunger signals at night.

        Eat when you are hungry (regardless of the time of day) and don't eat when you're not.

            Slippery slope here. The appetite suppression of ketotis is powerful. I know when I was in ketosis I could have gone an entire day without eating - easily.

              I've had an occasional Atkins Vanilla (lowest net carbs) Shake for breakfast and it hasn't slowed my weightloss or induced other cravings. For the most part, though, I agree with what everyone else said about not relying heavily on these types of products.

                woo hoo for you getting that appetite suppression going and listening to your body.

                here is the best way to understand the feed the hunger and the 6hr rule.

                When you drive car you learned you were allowed to drive at the posted speed. If your Drivers Ed instructers were well qualified they told you conditons permitting you could drive at a speed up to that posted one but if it was icey or wet you should go slower. two rules same road same posted linit.

                that is how the only feeding the hunger unless it has been 6 hrs since your last waking meal works. eat only when hungry and satisfy your hunger and stop BUT if it has been 6hrs ( that would be dangerous blood sugar conditions kicking in) then you eat a small protein/fat snack with some of your carbs( those would be the veggie carbs not junk food carbs).

                your body will send hunger signals when its fuel supplies get low or something upsets your blood sugar.

                    REmember also that you want to keep your fat burning furnace burning, and your metabolic rate can slow down if your body recognizes you not eating as starvation. I agree with 2Big.

                        Hey!! I have too agree that keeping the "Frankenfoods" to a minimum is best. I use them only for emergencies, like I woke up late and don't have time for a real breakfast. I find that they tend to make me feel a little bloated and kind of sick to my stomach. Atkins' whole deal, as you know, was about eating whole natural yummy food! Stay the course and you WILL succeed!

                          Is the shakes considered "frankenfoods", I thought that was more along the lines of vienna sausages and stuff like that.
