Re: I know this sounds wierd

OK, so it seems like you have already gone and started eating off program again, so I am not going to try and warn you to not do that. Yes, I am a newbie (two weeks today on my second time on Atkins.) but I am not a newbie to working out. You ARE going to go through a tough period with your work outs when you get back onto induction. I know because I have been working out hard for at least 10 years now, and both times I went through induction (I continued to my workouts throughout Atkins) working out was very painful. Just keep that in mind. If I wasn't so opposed to stopping my workouts, I think the best way to do things would be to get induction under your belt and then start working out. As it is I worked through the pain and things are easing up. Just keep that in mind that you will have a roadblock of sorts to face. Good luck and blessings of strength to work through it.

Re: I know this sounds wierd

thanks for all the advice guys, but like many of us, I can be a stubborn mule sometimes..and choose to do things my own way like I said before I know atkins works. I am not permantately off and I am not going to slack on the diet just becuase I joined curves when I actually restart the diet. I don't think some of you get my point here. But I do think you for checking on me, and for all your post, care, and concern.

I have gone off Atkins on purpose before so I will share what I have learned. Decided what (how) you are going to eat and stick to it. Are you going to eat what ever you want but no sugar etc. I decided to eat everything I missed but in moderation. There never was moderation for me. I could have planned better. I was getting up at 3 am to finish a cake.

#2 Carve April 16 in stone. Let nothing sway you from that. I also suffer from Next sundayites. And will put it off forever.
I couldn't my lazy but in the groove of a workout and struggle with atkins at the same time
While you are off come here and lets work on why you are struggling. Atkins should not be a struggle.

Re: I know this sounds wierd

I know why atkins was a struggle for me..I have major migraines to start with..the first month or so of atkins makes them worse..it isn't really atkins..it is the withdrawals from the life long adiction of sugar. I was struggling with the withdrawals..more than with atkins itself..maybe I should have said that better. Atkins is a pretty easy diet for me to be on after about 3 weeks, once I get my mind trained. If that makes any sense.

I think ronnie makes a good point

I get all weak-feeling and my muscles just feel tired all over when I'm on atkins, be kind to yourself, and patient if you're feeling tired, it'll pass and you'll be all set doing both excercise and diet!

I don't know about you, but I don't want to be fat for another minute, much less another two weeks. You really need to ask yourself...what's really important to me? Planning to be thinner or planning to stay overweight? You are so worth it....do something great for yourself and get on this way of eating and watch a wonderful transformation take place!!!!

Re: I know this sounds wierd

I get what you're saying. For some reason you can't seem to follow the eating plan at the same time as exercising. The same way some people can't quit smoking and start a new eating plan. Of course, we don't recommend that people stray from what Atkins says since we all follow DANDR 2002 not the "do your own thing" plan. However, some people suggest that you get the way of eating down pat, get over the induction flu and then start your workouts. What you are suggesting is that you want to get into a regular routine with exercising and then work the plan in. It's difficult to start a new way of eating one day and then start a new exercise plan that same day. I don't know how many people actually do that. You will have a hard time with your workouts once you get back on plan and go through induction flu. I would suggest that you continue your workouts but maybe do them less intensely (just so you stay in the habit of exercising regularly) for the couple of days of the flu. I would also suggest that you really try to avoid the sugar and junky carbs until then because it will lessen the chances of you having major withdrawal symptoms. What you are saying (I think) is that by the end of April you will be back on the eating plan and exercising regularly. If you are determined, you will do it. Good luck!

So sorry to sound harsh. I did not mean to sound discouraging. I''m no expert by any stretch of the imagination. I know that you need to do whatever works for you. I have to make myself exercise because it always hurts due to a bad back (which is why I'm growing shorter!) The experts will tell you that the combined effort will give you greater succcess, which is all that we want for you...SUCCESS!
Again, sorry if I discouraged you!!!!

Re: I know this sounds wierd

Hey Chrisie, remember me? We were doing induction together about five weeks ago. It's good to see you back on the boards.

I definitely think people here do understand what you are trying to do. Soooo many people have traveled the same road as you are now and are trying to share what they have learned. In your first post you said you knew it was going to be controversial, so you have to be okay with the advice and opinions that you are getting.

I see it like this, my parents and grandparents can see around corners in life so much better than me. Why, because they have been through it ALL before. When I don't take thier advice, I usually stumble and/or fall, but I learn from it. It's called being human. The decision is still mine, to take the long road or the short cut that has been painstakingly carved out by those who went before me. And I have eventually figured out that they are really trying to save me time, energy, and maybe pain.

The wisdom being shared here is not to make you feel you are wrong, it is shared out of the passion to see you succeed!

But all she's saying is that she wants to get her exercise going first and then do the woe. Her intention is to do Atkins by the book in terms of exercising and following the eating plan together once she gets in the exercise habit. Raise your hands everyone who started the woe and the exercise plan on the exact same day? Mmm, hmm. Most of us started the woe and then figured out the exercise plan. She's doing it in reverse. Personally, Chrisie, I do find it easier to sort out the woe first, but as long as you end up where you should be (i.e. exercising and following the plan at the same time) then you should take the route that will guarantee you get there.

More power to you if you can get back on plan again. Who am I to judge? I will say that I have done the whole learn to exercise before diet and even though I lifted weights 3-4 times a week for a year, I never got back on a diet plan and gained 35lbs.

Thank you guys for the bit of encouragemnt I wasn't feeling there for a bit , I am going to do this diet again...tryintolose, if you remember, I was stubborn as **** through my induction. I didn't cheat not once, (I wouldn't even use the spoon I was cooking my food with, to cook my husband's potatoes or whatever..lol) I just have to get the excercise thing down. And, if I do it after atkins, I probably won't ever do it right. Because the fact is you can lose weight on this woe without excercise. Not as much, Not as fast, and it won't be as rewarding. But, I would be losing weight, so until I hit a big long stall months from now I wouldn't excercise. Bottom line. So, if I get into the program before I restart my woe, than I have that on my table too. I know all of these things are true. I know I am going to go through the induction flew again. I know it. I know it is still going to be hard at first to continue excercising when I restart this woe because I will feel so sluggish at first, but I will be in the habit...and the stubborn mule that I am won't want to break that habit. I knew this was going to be a hot topic. I knew a lot of people weren't going to understand. But, I am tired of people (not everyone because I do have a lot of great supporters and people cheering me on telling me I can do!) telling me that I won't restart the diet. I am and I will. I am telling y'all, they don't come much more stubborn than me...when I get something in my head that I want to do...I do it...it is that plain and simple. And, in a way I have to thank all of you doubters because you are just helping me more. I am one of those people with and "I'll show you attitude!" I don't mean any of this ugly. I know everyone is trying to help from their experiece, but the truth is all experiences don't end the same. The person makes the differce. And, I will continue my exercise program. I will get back on my woe and never come off again. I love you guys for trying to help me so much. The good and the moor assertive comments.
