  • I have become complacent!

Sadly it is true! I have lost and regained the same 5 pounds for the last 3 months. I started at 303 and am now 255 pounds. I get motivated, get down to 249 and then I totally blow it. I do not just blow it I eat everything I am not suppossed to have in one sitting.
I have a goal it is 120 pounds which is a good weight for my height, but as soon as I start feeling good I think I can just put whatever I want in my mouth.
I was reading another post in here, and I too have lost sight of why I started this, and forgot that though I feel much better than I did at 303, I will not feel that well for long loading up the carbs. Not to mention that 255 is still morbidly obese for a 30 year old 5'2" female.
I have tried many times over the past three months to re-start and get back into ketosis, but I forget that I can not just go back to eating like I was. I have to treat myself like a first timer. I also have to start using adbb everyday as well as fitday. I would not have made it this far without this board.
I have a mission, I know I have a plan, now all I need is a little will power for a few days so I will be coming here everyday!

I DON"T MIND A KICK IN THE PANTS EITHER!

    Re: I have become complacent!

I understand where you're coming from. Instead of thinking about the things that you shouldn't have, think about the stuff you CAN have... I've had troubles staying with atkins because I start losing weight, and then think "Oh, this little potato won't hurt" and oh yes it does... I changed my mind set, when I see what everyone else is eating, I think to myself, what kind of diet do I want to be on, a self-starving diet where all I eat is pasta's and potatoes, and I'm constantly hungry anyway, or stick to what I'm doing, feel full, still lose weight, and not feel guilty cuz I had a bacon cheeseburger. That's what is keeping me on course. I hope that helps a little?

Austlyn you've said so many simple things that are so very key.

"I have to treat myself like a first timer." Absolutely, we begin to think that we know this plan so well, but we become lax in our discipline. We start to think one bite won't hurt, but as the good doctor said, one bite is the "kiss of failure".

"I do not just blow it I eat everything I am not suppossed to have in one sitting." I could have typed this sentence. I stand in front of the pantry and have a spoonful of peanut butter, then a handful of choolate chips (DW's baking stash), then a cookie, then a granola bar, then some goldfish, and then I beat myself up.

"but as soon as I start feeling good I think I can just put whatever I want in my mouth." SO many here can relate to that as well. I keep having to remind myself partial success is not complete success. I must strive for complete success.

No more restarts, this is the last one.

        Re: I have become complacent!

I'm a member of this club, too. Since January 05, I have gained and lost the same 8 lbs. If I stop and think that all the weight should be gone by now, it makes me depressed. Complacency is NOT our friend, and I have yet to break that mind set.

hey austlyn! im not going to kick ya, although i do have some nice steel toed boots here, lol. I know what you're saying, it is very easy to slip into that way of thinking. But just think of far you have already come, 50lbs! that's amazing! what rung did you make it up to before? do you think moving further up the rungs is hurting you or helping? for me i couldn't do extended induction because i needed a little more variety, so i moved up to nuts and berries. let's figure it out together!

              Re: I have become complacent!

sombersuzie, I think my trouble is when I start moving up the rungs I start skipping rungs, I only lost 6 ounds in induction average so I did stay on extended induction quite awhile and then when I decided to move up I started having trouble. I made it threw today now I need to make it threw tomarro!
Yes we can fiqure it out together I need all the help I can get! And support

                Re: I have become complacent!

Austlyn... I've got a different theory... I think its the number... You go one pound down below 250, i.e. 249 and you start cheating. I'm wondering if you feel like you don't deserve to lose this weight and that is some kind of marker for you? Just being an amateur psychologist. Even still... man oh man... you've already lost so much! Excellent show! I know you'll be okay. I have instincts eh?

                  Re: I have become complacent!

we can kick each other Austlyn! Get your boots on, I'll grab mine too. This might hurt a little... hmmm, I wonder if I can kick myself too? I think when I got close to 140, so close to goal, and I left my husband, I felt free, and that included food, not to mention the drama, the crying, all the emotional stuff, my son graduating, so many things happening all at once just caused a blowout. Trying hard to get back on track! Today is the first day of the rest of my life.

Oh Jas if need someone to talk to just PM after all I may be younger but I am already on the second marriage- this one is much better cause I learbed to listen to that innervoice. Here is a shoulder not a kick in the pants- but do not punish yourself, I have one graduating 8th this year and last it always make you cry right?

Aggie I think you right but I have weighed less than before after weight loss, lowest was 230 I really think at 215 it may be a phyciological problem, but this was complacency I just feel really good, but now I want to look that good too.

                      Re: I have become complacent!

Oh good Austlyn! I always hit a barrier at 230 so I'll have company! I guess the good thing is we "know" about that psychological thingie with us. I'll have to stop being an amateur psychologist now because I never get that right! lol Half the time I'm just "projecting" my own thoughts about myself on others anyway! Bad aggie! Bad! We're going to get there though Austlyn. This time.
                      Thanks for responding eh?

                            Hey Austlyn!

You can do it! Complacancy can really hold you back... I know all too well. Its good though that you recognize it and can take charge before you fall too far back.

Here's another <kick> to get you moving in the right direction!
