30 carbs daily - pattern question

  • 30 carbs daily - pattern question

    I'm really struggling to keep it at the 30 carb intake. I need to space my stuff out with each meal. keeping a pattern may help. yesterday I had the majority at supper because breakfast kept me so full I had a snack for lunch and then piled all my foods on at supper - not good!

    Does having a pattern to eating help? How do most folks do it?

    I'm thinking:

    breakfast: protein and fat

    lunch: protein, fat, 1 cup salad

    supper: protein, fat, 1 cup salad, 1 cup veggies, additional veggies

    snack: berries with whipped cream

    This is a little over 30. I'm trying to figure out if I should do meats, fats, veggies, dairy, and fruit daily.. sticking with one food from each rung as I move up or mix and match. That whole food pyramid keeps showing in my head LOL.

    Any suggestions?

    Why don't you try writing out a couple sample menus for your week and then plug them into fitday to see if all the ratios work for you? It should give you an accurate look at you protein & fat ratios as well as counting your carbs for you. Then you can tweak them as needed. I am a creature of habit and try to plan out my menu for the day as best I can. That way I can allot myself a certain amont of carbs for each portion of the day.

      I think we are only supposed to have 20 carbs daily, not 30

        Weightbegone--that's only for the first two weeks (or longer if you decide to do an extended induction)!!!! After the first two weeks you start adding foods back in and upping your carb amounts--this is called Ongoing Weight Loss Phase.

        Some people eat upwards of 100grams of carbs per day (the heavy exercisers!)

            Zelda, I"m that kinda creature too. I love routine. I never had much luck with fitday. I think I'll do that and look up things in my carb book. I'd like to space out my carbs throughout the day. Last night I was really stuffed and didn't sleep as well as normal.

            I also discovered my eggplant is not as carby as I had thought~ hopefully I can whip me some up for supper with my left over chicken MMM Time to plan my eating for the day while I have a spare moment.

              Totally understandable. I'm moving up the rungs.. I still feel that metal taste.. so I'm doing well. I won't fall off (eating wrong foods).. but I don't want to mess up by eating too many carbs right off the bat. I need to plan my menus to ensure I get 30. Fine tuning

                Fit day bugs me too! They never seem to have what I eat on the list. I end up having to add it in myself. It's tedious at best.
                MMM LOVE eggplant.. I love to have eggplant sauteed w/ garlic & olive oil. Throw in a chicken breast and 1 tablespoon spaghetti sauce. Simmer on low for 15 minutes. Soo good! Of course, hubby hates it!

                  MMM I never crave eggplant except on Atkins. I'm "sweating" it now. Will sprinkle with italian seasonings, parmesan cheese.. and a smidgen of pizza sauce or spag. sauce. MMMM. I made eggplant lasagna once too. I loved it. Everyone else frowned LOL

                  I also measured my salad. I was eating waay more than needed. That is a plus in one way because I know my CCL is higher than I think. I'm using my eggplant as my 1 cup of veggies outside my 2 cups salad. It really pays to measure. It's been a good while since I did Atkins the first time and oh, how I thought I remembered so well. I treated myself to the book and carb counter yesterday. It's full of highlights and underlines and stars and notes in the margin.

                    actuaslly you are thinking all wrong for Atkins. think of yourself as a car running on atkins fuel. that means every meal should have some fat some protein and some carb so you are efficiently running all day long. as you know if your car runs on super and you give it regular it will run too lean and not go good. then if you fuel up with premiun you will be running too rich and not just averageout for the 2 tanks. So it goes with Atkins too too little carbs at one meal and you will be low on the fuel for th4e body parts that can only burn sugar and your body will need to step up sugar production in your liver and it will then need insulin to burn that sugar and it will not shut off the sugar production and all the associated bad for atkins chems and cravings until the body uses up the produced sugar. Then when you tank up on your carbs like you did again the sugar level rises and the insulin level goes up so the fat burning stops until that insulin level drops back down.

                    Spread out your carbs to all meals and balance your day for the best craving free atkins losing journey.

                      It's hard through with only 1 cup of "other" veggies to spread it out over 2 meals, let alone 3. I admit I end up eating my cup of veggies in the evening with dinner most nights. I realize it's not ideal, but if I only had a half cup at lunch and a half cup at dinner it becomes a lot more difficult to prepare for me .

                        How many cups of veggies are you eating per day?

                        During Induction, you can have either 3 cups from the "salad" list each day or 2 cups from the "salad list" and 1 cup from the "other list" each day.

                          why only 1 cup as Not2late said we have 3 cups of veggies during induction, and the first thing we add back in OWl is 5 more net carbs of those veggies off either list so do your 14 days move to OWl and get more veggies you can squat right there and stay as long as you need to before you move to the next rung if you want.

                            Right, to clarify... I meant the 1 cup of "other" veggies. I tend to have salad for my first two cups with lunch and then the third "other" at dinner. My understanding was that I really should be splitting that up more.

                              you should be splitting it all up with about 1 cup at each meal it may seem silly now but when you get to OWl you will need to be adding carbs to every meal too or you will be having sugar effects from the bolus of dinner carbs whikl eyou have no breakfast and few lunch carbs.
