I followed Atkins then and now. They are different programs, but they explain the foundational facts about insulin, sugars, insulin resistence. Give a bit of a global look. Well, I picked up a book by Carpender at the library, "How I Gave Up My Low-Fat Diet and Lost 40 Pounds"...
This gal approaches things with a touch of humor, often describing her own reactions. What grabs you is her estonishment over trying low carb and all the amazing things that came with it besides weight loss. Then she has become a researcher, going back into last century to find and read the early reports about low carb dieting. It is very good, and then she gets into the different diets, and the over view of the two basic diets, which are Atkins and protein power...
