Rotational foods!? wow! I have struggled with moving up the rungs and never really understood HOW it's to be done. I thought people on the upper rungs were eating a boat-load of carbs and still able to lose weight. How did you find your limit on carbs?
I'm still around, just remade an appearance about a month ago. Terry is still hanging out in her journal, but she doesn't post much here. Finelly... *pout*, well she appears to be gone.

I've done a modified OWL too. A little bit different than what Cleo describes. But, that's the beauty of OWL, it's where we are given some guidelines and we customize within that for our own bodies.
On induction, I never even got close to 20 grams of carbs. Say I was having 12 or 15 net carbs per day. On OWL rung 1, vegetables, I just added another cup of veggies. I made my salad bigger, or I had 2 cups of the "other vegetables". Upping my carbs to 17-20 net carbs.
The next move up to dairy, I went back down to 3 cups of veggies per day and ate a serving of dairy (ricotta, cottage cheese, more cream, or yogurt) instead. The next rung was nuts, I moved back to induction levels but added my 5 additional grams of nuts.
I did this through almost all of the rungs through legumes. Once i got to that point, I started adding two or three of the different food groups a day and stopped worrying about veggies (I learned that I don't have a problem with low glycemic vegetables). I have increased my carb level up to about 30-40 net carbs a day and can still lose.(although now that I'm close to goal, its slower). I generally eat all the vegetables I want but only have one or two servings a day of something from the other rungs.
Hope that helps anyone who is struggling.

My bad! Guess I should start checking in with the dailies, huh?
For a very short time (long story, told earlier) I was a moderator of this forum, and I thought it was just about the best one on the board -- it almost seemed like family. I guess I should have realized that I need to hang around a bit more, and get to know the regulars a lot better, if I expect it to feel that way, again. I'll admit I've been spending a lot of time on the main forum.
So, "Hello" fellow STACers!
(Hey, thanks, Jess -- looks like you're one of the movers and shakers on this forum!)

I can move over for the REAL movers and Shakers...YOu, Cleo, and now Terry popped in, so seems like "old home week"or something...Cleo is gonna draw all sorts of pop ups!!!!
It's great that you use to be the Mod. and you are back, well start jumping in, we need it here, gosh, don't go give it all away to another board...we need the zip and zest and thought provoking posts...
Dragonflymoon was the last one to really rise up and call for a real roll call. There are a few of us that are about 3mos on now, and some a little longer and then a new wave, I would do names, but I tend to leave people out, huh? and well it's not like I can go back and check out another thread, if I do, I loose this thread...
We are all about community and knowing each other to a degree and being there, but our information is limited, and we cycle it...we then have to go outside our club to gain greater perspective unless you long termers, will step up and stir it all up and you know the drill....Come here MORE!

LOL but Im back, but im wondering where the forum is for OTAC? One hundered Time Around Club?
Like seriously people, Im feeling left out here, theres no home for people like us
Ok Im done being smart now! Im back full force, watch out!
My internet went kerfloofer yesterday, so I'm sorry for the unexcused absence. I am going to definitely make it a habit to stop by and visit and lend support! It's really what I've always enjoyed most!
Chris is never chopped liver. Does anyone even like liver? It's so liver-y. He's more like chopped feta. Delicious, twangy, and something you want around because it adds zip to everything!
Chris is feta cheese!
Rachel-- I totally never understood the rotational thing initially. Then one day it sort of hit me, and I was like d'oh! I had to try it before it made sense, because I'm not the best visualizer. I might not even explain it very well.
Usually within 24-48 hours of introducing something new you can also tell long-term positive and negative effects of adding in something different, so rotating in one or two things tops is really a great idea per week. You still feel like you're having something awesome, but you're also able to know immediately what is bad for your body. Like for me, it was totally broccoli. I had to try it 2 or three times to make absolutely sure. Now I just stay away from it, and carrots and mushrooms. If I'd started out the week with a salad with a bunch of ingredients, I never could have figured out the problem food because there would be way too many variables in there to even start. This way, BAM, it's the mushroom, or BOOM! it's the broccoli. It is so convenient. Then I keep a list to remind me, in case I forget.
Like, one thing I do GREAT with is blueberries and full-fat yogurt. Of course, it took me awhile and a few rungs to be able to pair the two, but by the time I got there it was a great combination!
I hope any of that makes sense! It is so good to see you!
{{{{{{{{{knickknack}}}}}}}}}}}}}!!! It is so great to see you!!!! How the heck have you been?
Valid-- Doesn't modified OWL just rock the house? I love it!
{{{{{{{{{{shashee}}}}}}}}}}}}}! DAHLING! It is so wonderful to see you!!!
How are you, with your bad, sexy self?
{{{{{sharon}}}} I hear the oy and raise you a vey! It's great to be posting with you again! starting over makes us realize how great we had it in ketosis. Carb Hangover is no fun.
We need to keep posting and get this place going strong again.
Being here doesn't mean we're failures. It means we're really really realllllllly cool!
I mean very cool.
So no feeling like a failure allowed, because every life lesson takes us a step closer to being totally successful!
I tried moving up the rungs and was doing well by continuing to add foods... and add foods.. until it seemed like I was not being able to eat all that food. it was just too much. I even tried higher carb veggies to have minimal foods with a higher count.. no can do! Guess I don't eat as much as I originally thought I did. I feel comfy at 25 carbs and it makes perfect sense to try the foods out while still keeping your carbs on the lower end. Benefit of losing the weight at a good pace AND knowing how foods affect you. Yes, it's clicking! Once you have gone through the foods, then you can start adding back more and more carbs until your weight loss stops and there ya go!
Thanks for taking the time to explain. I kept looking at Joy and thinking she must be eating a bazillion carbs.. that lucky stinker... and I was gonna spend the rest of my life at no more than 25-30!
