Re: OK. So where did everyone go? Roll call!

I'm like you-- I max out at about 30 carbs. After that, I might as well be sucking back Dairy Queen Blizzards and bathing in gravy, because then I start getting hungry. Really hungry.

At least staying in the 20 carb range, you're still so in control of the hunger, because it's so high in fat. Even the food that affects you the worst will have less of an impact when it's on a 20-cad regimen versus 30-40 carbs, where hunger could be spiralling out of control anyway.

It's such an amazing feeling of control-- you're making these amazing self-discoveries empirically, taking your time, feeling like your own favorite test subject., And enjoying every minute of it!

AND, when cravings hit hard and fast because something disagrees with you, the bonus is that you can go back to having a high-fat mea/snack and knowing all along that it was the new X-factor food that did it, and that you're still very much ok!

It's when you don 't know what the ehck went wrong that things stress you out and spiralling out of control seems so much more imminent. Of course, I'm both a perfectionist and someone who is compulsive about controlling my own personal environment.

Re: OK. So where did everyone go? Roll call!

Hiya cleo! I've been good. Went and gained a bzillion pounds though (okay, just 20, on top of the 15 i already had on me) in the last year. Turns out i might have thyroid issues, which would explain why I can't seem to lose it and keep gaining!

Been doing okay this go round, fell off the wagon once when I had a big deadline and couldn't think straight. but, back on and not weighing myself. My jeans are falling off my body, I figure that's good enough!

This is sooooo true! Yes it totally touched a chord with me. I had a prawn salad with no dressing, and I could not stop eating all day! I was sooo hungry! I now know that this would not have happened had I smothered it in oilive oil or mayo.

I would LOVE to get hold of every overeater in the UK and make them eat nothing but freshly baked pork crackling all afternoon. This kills the appetite stone dead. It would make them see that there IS indeed an end to their hunger, if only they would cease trying to eat low-fat, which is making their compulsive eating worse, and thus exacerbating the problem.

Shame on the doctors treating the overeaters by making them eat salad with no dressing, or, worse, a high-sugar, low-fat, calorie-counted dressing.

Waterbabe-- Amen! Isn't it awesome to be able to pinpoint the problem with clarity? To almost reservedly be able to scratch our collective chins and say, "ah, but of course!" when it occurs to us what happened, instead of reacting with more feeding?

That's what I love best about this way of eating. It is the power we have over our bodies and our food to be able to make discern empirically, and with clarity, what our bodies need.

In a society where marketing and others are busy emphatically telling us what we need, it's very freeing to be the mistresses of our own physical destinies.

No one would argue with ubiguitous -- we couldn't get away from you if we tried (as so many do!). I guess I also can't argue with sesquipedalian muliebrity, either. After all, you are a woman, and since "sesquipedalian" is sesquipedalian, in itself, I suppose that means...........aw crap. You operosely do this to me on purpose, you incommodius, onerous wench!
