  • Those December goals...

Tomorrow is December 1. Jess has really made an impression on me with setting goals. I'm learning it's not always about meeting that goal.. it's the reaching for it, that never giving up that keeps you striving.

Start thinking about what you want to strive for in December. What do you want to reach for? It doesn't have to be weight either. Atkins is more to it than just weight loss. I'm learning all about that.

    My goals for December:

    1. Get in more strength videos.
    2. Drink my water on weekends and Wednesdays.
    3. Preplan menus a week at a time to ease my stress during the holidays.
    4. wrap presents as purchased!

January 1 is around the corner.. where will you be by then??

    Re: Those December goals...

wow, Rachel, fantastic. You have certainly taken the lead this Thurs...Got me thinking in so many directions.
I am finding daily my life has really been picking up speed, as I knew it would. In that speeding faster lane, I find water is easily hard to get! So working strategy with water is important.
Exercise in Jan. will take a back seat, as far a length, and amount. though I will exercise 5 to 6 days a week,it is an intregal part of my days now.
Foods starting in jan will have to be streamed lined.
So in light of Jan. December needs to be an agressive weight loss month, for me.
Tho I can't speak of exact goals at this moment other than the kicksass triathalon. There is something to putting things down on paper, writing out the desires that actually allows us to form plans to achieve them...I want to be strong and healthy and very involved with my way of life in January, and I will live that every day.

Jess, having a game plan is key! I know December is a toughie for me, so I'm just trying to see what needs to be done, prioritize and go from there. Sometimes that is all we can do. It's whatever works to keep us on track and focused.. I know if I fall off this time around it will take a long time to get back on. So.. whatever it takes!

My goals for this December are:

5 am every morning for exercise, shower, and prep for the day.
Be a week ahead in menu planning at all times.
Lose another inch (or two? What's realistic in a month?) off my poochy bloopy tummy.

I wish everyone luck in their December goals!

          Re: Those December goals...

I just asked about a December challenge in another forum before reading this...glad to hear it is up and running........

          1. My arthritis is not allowing me to exercise. I've been trying the Namaste yoga on tv. Somethings work very well for me (the stretching parts), but some other moves are a bit challenging. I like it though. I plan to sample different fitness techniques over the month and determine my threshold, depending on my arthritic symptoms.

          2. Precook meals and store them in tupperware so that they are already made and I do not slack on measuring, portion contol, etc...

          3. Drink more water.

I cannot stress enough.. try different things and find something you love and do it. And then do it again and again and again I NEVER thought I'd love exercise. I really do enjoy it! Those endorphines are like magic pills! Seriously. I've done 1.75 miles today and .. well.. honestly, I could jump on and do more! I love it that much. Okay, I love the feeling it gives.

Well things are going good. The gym (my living room) opened at 5 am this morning...and last night I planned out the family menu up until Saturday the 9th. I'm doing good! Looking forward to finding some new recipes to use!

Good for you! Can you share the menu? I use to do so well with grocery shopping when I planned my menus and then I stopped. It's really nice when you know what to cook and you can scratch it off the list of To Do's!

                    Re: Those December goals...

Well, I just started a few days ago and this is my millionth time around. I think I have lost track, but I am way determined and focused this time.

Since I am on induction, my goal for this month is to:

                    1. Do a clean induction, no cheating, whatsoever.
                    2. Drink 100 or more ounces of water a day.
                    3. Go to the gym and Excercise every day and rake in those miles for the challenge I am in.
                    4. Make sure that when I need the right types of food, I will ask my parents and not lose motivation.
                    5. Come on here as much as possible to keep my motivation high.

Thanks for the insight RachelnLa.....I'm tired of using excuses for my limited mobility.....I need to find what works! There are people in worse shape (health wise) than I am and still exercise in some form everyday...

Kristi, I love the comment, "WEIGH LESS THAN I DO NOW"..I like that so much, it's open ended, it's not specific and its very positive...Weight loss is the part we cannot control. There are so many things that we can control, all the things you listed above "weigh less" are the things you can control, they are the part you work on...The body sheds the weight in it's time...
I sat and figured this out at one point in my journey. It's all about lifestyle. If I have a way of eating, and a way of living that includes eating low carb, drinking good amounts of water, and having intense workouts, weight loss is inevitable...
If I cling to my part, and establish the lifestyle, the weight will come off in it's own sweet time. Then when it comes off, I have a lifestyle that can be modifed so that the weight loss stays off...they say that's the hardest part....Maintenance is the hardest part..
