Good morning my fellow STACer's,
Well today is the middle of the week. The sun is hiding and the rain is absolutely pouring down. That gives a moment to mention, labels.
Make sure that you are reading your labels, when purchasing foods. If you buy regular bacon, or sausage, or pepperoni, be very careful. In Indiana, I have yet to find one of those items that do not have a)sugar b)corn syrup c)corn syrup solids etc. I take that back, I have found a bacon, at walmart PLUMROSE, and it says right on the package NOT CURED WITH SUGAR.
These products carry so much hidden sugar sometimes, you're fighting an uphill battle. Same thing with Deli meats, they mostly all have sugar. I've found a few, South Beach acceptable, that are low in sugar, but I have never used them. Processed foods are to be used as a last resort.
I've even been reading some posts where people think it's acceptable to run into a quick stop/gas station and buy beef jerky or slim jims......YIKES!!! Do you realize that those products have fructose, mytose, yourtose, sugar, cornsyrup, brown sugar, ewww, might as well eat a snickers!!!! (okay....maybe thats a bit drastic...thanks Sheepie! haha)
If you want Beef Jerky, make your own! It's absolutely delicious! Same with sausage, but ground pork and make your own, it's only seasonings and it takes 1 minute to do. Anytime I can eat something gourmet, that I make, I jump on it!
You have to really think before you open that box or can, read those labels, and make sure that what your about to eat isn't chocked full of hidden sugars! Be wary of processed foods! Yuck!!!!
