  • Saturday Check In

Hey STACers, it's Sat. April 21. It's gonna be a great day. I am taking a big run this morning, taking advantage of having family around to keep my Mom calmed down while I run...going for 4.25 miles today. I've registared to run in a 10k race on July 4th...I've never done this, and am looking forward to it very much!

In order to meet this goal, I've got to get my body use to longer runs.

What goals are you all holding in your hearts? A goal, worked, takes you somewhere! It's very good to have mini, shorterm and longer held goals. Objectives to meet. I've seen more success when people set goals and work towards them, every single day.

YOU KNOW THATS THE KEY, "EVERY SINGLE DAY"...It's a daily thing, everything we do here is, DAILY...Daily check in, DAILY water consumption to move burned up fat waste out of our body, DAILY vitamins to suppliment our bodies needs, DAILY low carb foods that cause us to burn fat, feel great, be energized!!!! DAILY exercise, which actually energizes us all the more, and brings on endorphines, and changes our bodies....

A rest day is also very important! It gives our bodies time to heal..I rest from exercise once a week. Over the weekend I take a rest from certain activities. I also make sure to rest my mind for a period of time too.

Balanced approach to goals, make them, achievable, agreeable, and sustainable...Then do them. I've been working up to 3 miles a day running, and was cut short with Mom's illness. So, it's back to 3 miles a day and longer runs on the weekend. I can pick right back up where I left off, so I can reach my goal of this 10k. I want to be a runner! So, I run, I've got goals in running, and they are managable, achievable and sustainable.

Good Morning Jess and everyone else.

You are truly an inspiration to us all, thank you.

You are right on target with your statement about goals, both mini and large. Having something to work for gets me through each day. My first one is to be able to look at myself in a mirror standing sideways and not look pregnant, lol.

Good morning, all. A quick check-in before I take off for a bikeride; hopefully, the first of two today.

Something I haven't worked out yet is a day of rest from all this. Thing is, when it's nice out, I want to take advantage of that for the bike rides. If not that, then there's the videos which seems to be really beneficial for the left knee. Right now, there's muscles aching in the left leg to get going. Hard to imagine taking a day of rest when theese bad boys are screaming to work out.

Some day, I'll get a day of rest from the physical workouts. May be a while, though, until the therapy on the left knee really sinks in.

You go, Jess!! 10k is roughly 7 miles, right? That's really impressive to someone like me who can just tolerate a walk around the block!

Good morning, all! It's a beautiful day here in VA. Have to run errands this morning, but then want to take advantage of the weather to take a nice long walk.

My goals are simple - 1) to be able to shop in the "regular" women's department and 2) to be able to carry groceries in the house or walk up a flight of stairs, or walk around our yard without breathing like I'm going to die.

          Have a wonderful day!

I am here..and feeling good After my day at the park I was so tired.. I went to bed at 8:30 and slept until 6:30... that is a lot for me.

I haven't been doing any exercise cause I have issues with my feet...but I am hoping with more weightloss they will get better.

Oh to be able to run would be a true miracle.. I would be happy with being able to walk for a couple of miles without dying..

Although...I will say.. The other day I went up the stairs at my daughters dance studio..and normally when I get to the top you would think I was dying... But Thursday I don't remember feeling terrible when I got to the top.. They are really slanted funny so that is a good feeling..

Thought I was doing good, scale is back to 162 it must be my lucky number. The only thing new I have added back is pecans, so mini goal for this coming week is no pecans must find a different snack, nuts are so hard to measure and so good I know I ate too many. So need to shop for a new handi snack. maybe celery or olives or something I have not been eating much of. Will have a GREAT day today. Will drink my water ! will exercise !!

Good morning everyone! It's a beautiful day today, supposed to be 70 degrees! We have a fun day at the park planned. Today is a jogging day, so as soon as I can, I'm out the door. All this talk about scales really has turned me off of weighing today. I just find myself getting on it out of habit more than anything. Its amazing to me how something like a scale can determine your mood for the day! I am a victim of that also. But, I am determined not to let it control my attitude ANYMORE. I feel great and that's all that matters to me at this point. I can do things this week that I couldn't do a month ago and thats important to me too.

                Have a great day!!

Good luck Jess on your run! You're right on target with your DAILY goal plan. I've found if I set a daily plan -- it keeps me focused each and every day. When we set our goals too far in advance, life happens and its easy to skip a day here and there, and then frustration sets in.

I used to write in my journal every night about what I'd accomplished...now I write in it every morning what I'm going to accomplish. That helped me to keep focused each day. Its all about making the plan and following through.

Thanks for being a constant reminder that this WOE is about making changes and putting our words into action. You are such an inspiration to the board!!

Daily goals: water water water! Before this WOE, I was lackadaisical about my H2O, even though I knew you were supposed to be fierce about it. I have been getting in at least 3 Nalgene bottles (32 oz. each) a day now.

Today my boyfriend and I are going hiking, and then we are going out to dinner. My goal for this week is to keep up the good work and not give in to temptation. (Last night there were all kinds of carbo-goodies, like challah bread, lentils and rice, and almond cookies, that I passed up!)

                    Happy weekending,

Good Morning All, Valerie, im so suppose to go hiking today as well. I have found i love hiking more than anything else. Jess, i think that is great that your goal is to be a runner, you know the last time i went hiking i jogged a bit here and there, of course i have to work my way up to that, but i was telling my hubby about all of you on here that run and how that would be something if i turned into a running machine lol, but im a long way from that right now. Well anyway not much different here, just painting still, oh how i will be glad when that is over, im ready to decorate, and venturing over to this new hiking trail at a different state park, which im excited, it is along a river!!! Well i hope you all have a great day and i will check in later!!!

Lisa, girl you are such an inspiration! You can become a trail-runner over time...You love the woods, and all you are going to need is a new pair of "trail running shoes" to provide good support and grip action, and off you go, running or jogging in the woods...
It's the best of both worlds...I know it's wonderful to find something you love doing.

Good Saturday everyone. Hope all are well and enjoying good weather.

Jess you ARE inspirational. It is better to go one day at a time, because it can be overwhelming, for me anyway.

I'm lucky to live in a area that spends money on it's parks, and we have some beautiful places to walk, complete with large ponds and ducks. I think we have 8 walking/running tracks in my city. I walk over an hour now, but I started off barely able to walk 10 minutes without being winded, and in pain. Each day I added a little bit more time and I was amazed how easy it got. It's this woe that gives you more energy, and you begin to think ... I can do this.

My DH and I are starting the painting of our house today. Is standing on a ladder considered exercise?

Hope everyone has a wonderful Saturday.
