      mornin all. I was at work yesterday and a friend of mine asked me if i have been sick because she has noticed how much weight i have lost recently. I explained to her what i was doing. She told me that she figured its wat i was doing because she thought she had smelled the keytones in my breath. She has tried to do Atkins before but did not continue to follow the plan. Instead of her being supportive of my efforts to lose the weight, she tried to get me to cheat. When i wouldn't she began to lecture me on how dangerous it was and that she started talking to other friends of mine to help me get off the diet for my saftey.

            I thrive on the support and encouragement here. Everybody is so wonderful!

            I thrive on all the energy I have from eating healthy.

            I thrive from all the exercise I do. I was formerly a couch potato (eating chips while on the couch too).

            I thrive because at one time I was prediabetic, but through proper diet, I am not anymore!

            I thrive because I feel and look better now, at age 43 (and a grandmother at that), than I ever have any other time in my life!

              Keep strong and ignore her.. Did she say what she ate on Atkins? she was probably one of the ones that didn't touch the veggies...You are doing a great job!

                  hi everyone,

                  What's special here? To me, it is this:
                  I love coming here and knowing that there are folks from all across the country and the world checking in each day. We all have different circumstances, backgrounds, and dreams, but every single one of us share a common belief and goal. We keep those goals alive and thriving through this contact.
                  And I really love the fact that everyone in STAC is highly goal-oriented. We know we could do this alone if we had to....but we're glad we don't have to!
                  Everyone here has been there, done that---then somehow wandered off the w.o.e. path, but then came back! It's kind of hard to come back and say "oops, I need to start all over" but we all did it. STAC folks are optimistic realists---we hope for amazing results and accept the that it will take time and commitment and support from each other to get there. This place is like a cheerleading squad, a sanctuary, a confessional booth, and a library---all in one place. What is truly special is that everyone is kind....when we need a small nudge or a big push, we know we can count on good kind people to be there for us.

                    Grrr How annoying! Tell her there is no need to play "Superman" and try to save you.... you are saving yourself with the help of Dr. Atkins. I am so glad that my doctor is 100% behind this way of eating. He recommends the Atkins WOE to many of his patients, and they are thriving from it. So when someone butts their nosey a$$ into my business I say, "Back off - doctor's orders".

                    I am sure I don't have to say this, because you are doing so well, but - ignore them! I'm not sure why people think we give a damn about their opinion concerning Atkins - are they really that concerned? Would they give me money if I needed it? Probably not concerned enough to do that, although they don't think twice about telling you how to eat.

                      I know I dont post on the Roll Call very often. But I read it everyday and get inspired from everyone. We all want the same thing and we all go through the same struggles, tests, and triumphs. Before Atkins I would get up everyday and think about my weight pretty much all day. I would think about what I should eat, what I would eat, the guilt, the tight clothes, the jealousy of thinner people, how the next day I would 'do better', the avoidence of the mirror, and on and on and on until I went to sleep that night. These would not be my main thoughts, but thoughts that were always nagging me in the background. I dont do that anymore. I am happy with what I eat, I am satisfied in my stomach and my mind. I dont feel guilty or jealous or ashamed. For me that is the BIGGEST reward from this WOE. Peace of mind.

                            Tell her to prove it. Tell her to come up with studies and stats from unbiased sources that shows this is unhealthy... She won't because she can't.

                              Instead of trying to convince her with information i am going to let the results speak for themselves. i work in a hospital lab as well as going to grad school. before i started atkins i tested a blood sample and needless to say that on my meat, sweets and potato diet my results were dangerously high. tomorrow when i go to work i will test myself again to compare. i can't wait to see the results, im betting the numbers will be significantly better. i know my blood pressure has fallen back down to normal levels so far, i can't wait to see the rest.
