  • Friday - Roll Call

    Up and At em!! Good Morning STACer's!!

    Today is Friday! The glorious weekend right ahead of us! The weekend can be a harder time to stick to plan, going out Friday night with friends, or BBQ'g with family, lots of time to 'slip' off 'plan'.

    However, if you 'plan' ahead, you should be fine! If your BBQ'g with heavy sauces, or fruits etc, make sure to save that side of the grill for you without all the added on stuff!! Have you ever tried marinading and grilling veggies, summer squash is excellent on a grill!!

    If you're going out to dinner, try to plan ahead and find out what kind of restaurant or bar you're going to. See what kind of menu they have. 'Plan' ahead and that will help you stay on track!!

    I wish each and everyone of you a wonderful weekend! Please try to 'plan' ahead and have successful weekend!

    Good morning STACer's (& Scooter),

    I see you got the day right Scooter, good job!
    I agree, planning is everything. For me that means, everyday. Right after breakfast, I make my salad (almost always cucumber), DH's salads, put those totals along with breakfast into the software, to see where we are on carbs left. Then I decide on dinner, pull meat out of freezer, decide on veggies, plug that into software, so then I know what we have left for lunch and snacks.

    I keep a running list of what is in the freezer downstairs, as well as the upstairs freezer so I know when I am running low on chicken breasts, pork chops, shrimp etc. I also keep a running grocery list, when I get low on something I just add it to the list. Oh yeah, I am way into the planning thing.

    Hey, I tried that muffin a minute this morning, they are great! I think I am going to try leaving out the splenda and cinnamon, adding onion powder and see how they do for a sandwich muffin. For anyone who missed it yesterday, here is the link:

      Good Morning all! For me, the weekends is a time when I plan for the upcoming week (work)..I make large batches of meals, that way I have lots of choices for the week.

      It has been so hot the last few days, and today is no exception. I am actually looking forward to the weekend because it will be in the 60-70s. It's just so humid here when it gets hot, and even hotter in my bedroom (2nd level).

      Anyone doing anything special for Mother's day this weekend? Nothing planned here...I know the 3 kids were each making something special in school!

      Oh! My coworker that I turned on to Atkins has lost almost 20lbs! She started about 2 weeks after me..I am really proud because she read the book, and has been following perfectly..most people that I know, in real life, that have tried..don't take the time to fully understand it to reap the benefits.

      Also my husband was down to 186lbs yesterday!! We had a talk about when he would really start moving up in OWL..he seems to be steadily now losing at least 3lbs a week, and I'm kinda nervous that he is not taking the right steps to move up some in OWL if he wants to continue to maintain this WOE. He is 6'2, but has a very thin build so he looks fine now..he has a little "stomach" buldge..and he kept saying he wanted to continue doing what he's doing until that is gone.

        Morning all! Im getting ready for work and running a little bit behind, so I just wanted to pop in and say HAPPY FRIDAY! I hope everyone has a great day!

          Make sure you let us know how the muffin turns out with using onion powder.. cause I read somewhere not to leave the Splenda out it will be nasty..but the onion powder might make a difference..

          Oh I forgot..even the kids said the muffin smelled really good.. But at $5.00 for the little bag of Flax Meal they aren't getting any..lol

            Happy Friday! Yea!

            Lisa (Sassilee), I know this is going to be a tough weekend for you. Nothing like Mother's Day to bring you down when you're going through IF treatment. Since you came here for support with Atkins, I'm guessing that you have a board for IF support too. I hope so. There are some really good ones out there. Whatever you do, stick to the plan. I'm sure you know that low carb diets are recommended for IF patients and it really seems to help both women and men! It may not seem like it now, but you have a bright future with tons of possibilities out there. When we first started treatment, the procedure we needed didn't even exist yet! Try to stay strong and focused.

              Good Morning Everyone.. Its a Sunny warm day here in VA... Jamestown 400th celebration is going on Today, Saturday and Sunday.. President comes on Sunday.. So you know I am avoiding that side of town... There is a huge Golf Tournament going on too...

              I will agree with Scooter... PLAN.. I plan ahead.. everywhere I go or plan to go for the week. I am getting a little ticked off with my husbands family cause no one has called about Mother's Day and I need to know what I have to bring and what I can eat there on Sunday. Hopefully I will get an email.. My sil said we might have Barbecue.. I said Make sure that you don't add sauce on mine.. She said YUCK.. I said NO..I cannot eat the sauce it has Sugar... Now this is the SIL that isn't suppose to be eating Sugar either...and is always complaining about how her stomach hurts all the time..

              Speaking of stomachs..that is one area that has GREATLY improved.. I had my gallbladder out two years ago..and anything I ate went right through me.. I don't seem to have that issue anymore

              I am not a big Salad person... So I rarely have a Salad at home... I save those for when I am going to be out.. I am still hoping for that grill on Mother's Day...I use to have one...hubby took it to the hunt club and it got broken.. IF I get one for Mother's Day I am going to need some tips.. I LOVE chicken on the grill but don't know what to add on it...

              MissyMiss..that is wonderful that your co-worker is doing so well and that the two of you can support each other.. And Hubby too he is doing a great job.. Is hubby exercising to lose that little tummy? cause sometimes they don't just go away...

              Wow I didn't mean to be so winded today...but ya'll should be use to that by now...lol Oh I am down another pound today

                  Muffin recipe sounds cool, I agree, a little onion powder, chili powder, garlic powder mix.....kind of like an everything bagel....but not the carbs!!! Di let us know for sure!!

                    Scooter you haven't tried the muffin? It was much easier to fix then the Revolution Rolls that I haven't attempted again. And it was so cool that it came out of my coffee cup..lol

                      Hey all, just a quick check-in!

                      I'm down 2.75 inches and 1.5 pounds this week. I am firmly in the 180s! I'm glad it's friday, and I plan on drinking lots of water today (I feel a bit dehydrated, grrr.)

                          You know, I know people who are struggling with their diabetes and unstable blood sugar. I look at what they're eating and try to suggest they try Atkins. But it continually falls on deaf ears. It's heartbreaking because I've read from so many others how they've gotten rid of their diabetes problems with Atkins. What can you do, though??

                            BROCCOLI SALAD

                            1 bunch fresh broccoli, finely chopped, raw, about 1 pound
                            1/2 cup red onion, finely chopped, 2 1/2 ounces
                            3/4 cup mayonnaise
                            2 tablespoons white vinegar
                            2 tablespoons Splenda or equivalent liquid Splenda
                            12 ounces bacon, chopped and fried until crisp
                            1/4 cup sunflower kernels

                            My own recipe also calls for a can of chopped up waterchestnuts and 1/2 to 1 c of raisisn. The original recipe uses 1/2 cup sugar; this one has the Splenda. I'm not too sure how the heck I'm going to deal with that yet for myself.

                            Otherwise, this is totally delicious and addicting! When some others heard I was going to bring this Sunday, they got excited about it.

                              I have a broccoli salad recipe..and I used Splenda in it.. Splenda doesn't bother me. The family LOVED it at Easter and ate it all.. I told them I was getting mine first...lol
