  • Fitday Questions

Hi !! Is anyone else frustrated by the incorrect carb counts on Fitday? I'm having a hard time finding the exact foods that I'm eating (not sure why plain scrambled eggs aren't on there). And, when I do find them--the carb count is not the same as in other carb counters (like Atkins). Fitday lists 3 scrambled eggs as having 5 carbs. Atkins says that it would be more like 1.8. That's a major discrepancy when you're on induction (day4). How do you solve it? Enter all of your foods as custom? Thanks for your help!

    Re: Fitday Questions

    Hi Linda,

Make sure that you are subtracting the fibre - I forgot to do this for ages. You need to set a fibre goal under 'goals' and then once you've entered your foods on the main list go to 'reports' and subtract the total fibre from the total carbs.

And yes, sometimes it is more accurate to enter custom food, or plain ingredients. So when I make scrambled egg I put in the number of raw eggs plus butter and anything else added.

I don't use fitday for just that reason. I download numerous programs, until I found one I liked, it's called weight-by-date.

I enter everything raw, or I make a custom food...

I enter absolutely everything possible as a custom food; makes it much easier!

I went through everything in my pantry and refrigerator one day and entered the information from every label I could find - even the eggs. Otherwise, it can be quite frustrating, sometimes. I am learning to deal with it, though.

          It gets easier!

            Re: Fitday Questions

Thanks everyone! I'm glad it wasn't just me being stupid! I'm going to check out that weight by date, Di and probably enter in my "usual" foods as custom foods on fitday. Thanks for all of the responses. Hope all the Moms had a great day! I got to pick the restaurant tonight --so I made it easy on myself and went with a steakhouse. I got great steak, salad and steamed veggies. Since I had no lunch (at the ballgame) it worked well. Now, back to Survivor!

Scrambled Eggs are under - eggs, fried. or eggs, cooked. just add your butter or whatever you're cooking with. I absolutely love fitday, I've used it since day 1, you just have to get used to it. I'm sure you'll find lots of folks who've been at this awhile, saying the same thing. I'm a fitday junkie, for sure!!

You can edit their foods too!
Change the carb count to what it should be after you subtract the fiber, and then set the fiber to 0, and you may need to adjust the calories after that, but it will tell you what they should be..
I have done that, but mostly entered custom foods It drives me nuts too.

                  Re: Fitday Questions

I have tried Fitday and like the nice modern interface but found it awkward to use. I purchased Weight-by-Date Pro for a reasonable sum and am very pleased with it. You can get a free trial to see if you like it. It looks a bit dated but it works perfectly well. You can not only add your own customized foods, but you can also store whole recipes and it works out all the nutrients per portion. It also has special Atkins Net carbs features which make life easy. It is based on an Excel spreadsheet and so you can import data into that if you need to.

I'm sure Weight-by-Date Pro was recommended by someone on this board but can't remember who.

I have been using it since January and like having it all stored on my computer.I still use Fitday occasionally to check out the nutrients for some foods not on my database and it is useful for that.
