    Good morning, all! I hope everyone will remember our vets everywhere, regardless of country, who gave their all for the good fight of Freedom and Liberty!

    Yesterday, someone posted "disgust" with the foods he (or she) is eating. And at one point, mentioned "lard and dead animals" is making being fat starting to look acceptable. I avoided posting a reply because it would have been very sarcastic.

    But it sure got me thinking of how so many have such distorted misconceptions about this WOE and just what fat AND how much of it we eat. Even though this is considered a high-fat diet, we're still taking in so much less fat that we normally would with our past habits. Along with that, I'm pretty certain so many of us are eating fats that are very good for us; fats found in eggs, olive oils, fish oils, dairy products, etc.

    Anyway, I'm finding I have some distorted views about this WOE occasionally, too. And want to reread the Atkins book. So would anyone like to do some summer reading, taking one chapter a week, maybe starting a thread where we might discuss what we're reading? We might start it in a week or two?

      Hi Terry, count me in. Sounds like a great idea. I had some mussels the other night and mistakenly thought they were 0carbs, when in fact there were approx 8grms in what I ate. It was fine, cos it was within my allowances for the day, but it made me realise that I don't know it all! I probably need to re-read the book, so doing it with others sounds like a great plan.

      I'm off for a weekend break with my bf today. We are going to the west of Ireland, really beautiful part of the country. We are planning lots of hill walking in the weekend break, so we get our exercise in. Food wise, it doesn't bother me. I'm feeling very much in control - no cravings for anything. DBF wants to have a little cheat at the weekend -he has such a sweet tooth, but it doesn't interest me at all. I want those scales on Monday to show results and no way am I ruining that by have a silly dessert. I know that one of the reasons why people are successful on this woe is by planning ahead. Thats really helping me too. Making a decision up front and sticking to it. I have pretty good willpower too. Thank goodness!

        Good Morning, Glad someone's awake. Never went to sleep last night... thought there was a prowler, called the police and have been waiting up for my daughter who probably is now spending the night at a friends because it got too late... turned off her cell phone....ack!
        yesterday was a hard day for me... went to lunch with some girlfriends and ate well. salad and chicken. yummy! but our table was in the sun... got a little sun strokey and had a headache and nausea big time.... really wanted to eat carbs, but didn't. i went to a store and bought some frozen veggies and put it on my head... also drank alot of H2O. I had to work from 3-11 so was worried I wouldn't make it... really busy night, but turned out okay. skinny coworker ate an entire bag of vinegar and salt potatoe chips (big bag) and talked about how her husband wants her to gain 15 lbs.... made me want take the bag of chips and whack her with it....and waiting up for daughter and being scared of the prowler also makes me want to eat... but i am going to go to bed soon instead. I have every outdoor light on even tho the police said I should turn them off. Hubby is asleep. Never called police for a prowler before... Dog went crazy when I got home barking with her hair all up... Saw someone hide in some bushes nearby a couple of days ago... also after I called police, I picked up the paper and read that there is a peeping tom on the loose in the neighborhood.
        that was weird cuz it described the guy I saw hiding the other day... should have called police then but forgot after my walk.
        ack!!!!
        I might take a little drinky poo and chill out. night night.

          Liz, you have made me laugh with that Don't you just hate skinny co-workers! I have a good friend who is like a size 0. She cannot put on weight - issue with her thyroid. We were out for a night out recently and both in the ladies (where all good conversations happen! ) I was moaning that I didn't have anything in my wardbrobe that fit me anymore and she was doing the same. It was so funny - talk about two extremes. But in fairness to her, she is way too skinny and looks really unhealthy. She'd do anything to pack on 15lbs or so. Wouldn't it be great if we could just share our load with the skinny ones!

            Well, had a wooshie!!! Hit the 150's!! YAY!!! It's probably b/c I went to bed without dinner last night as I was not feeling well, but I'll take it and hope it lasts!!!!

              Good morning everyone. How scary about the prowler. I hope that they catch him soon. Yes, I would love to share my fat with all the skinny people of the world! Would it be tax deductible? I'd like to do the reading too, but I can't ever seem to find time to do anything extra. It's hard enough to squeeze in the walking time, but I'll try! Yea, SassiLee on the whooshie! So where's Scooter today? Maybe he got deported! Well, maybe.

                goodmorning, I'm moving slow here. Just finished day one of modifed induction with my daughter! We ran 4 miles in the morning and eat very structured for the day...2 more days and I should be back in ketosis...
                Ketosis is where I love to be. It reduces my appetite, and gives me great energy. I've maintained my weightloss, but have jumped back onboard with induction for my DD's sake....plus I so enjoy structure and control in the food realm. So last night no dessert! Nothing sweet other than a piece of Gum...I also was able to take in a bunch more water! So our plan moves forward! Ketosis here I come!

                  Hi everyone!
                  That sounds like a neat idea about reading chapters of the book Terry! I have re-read sections here and there but not the whole book, so I think that'd be really helpful.
                  Are you feeling better today?
                  Hopejoy...prowlers?? That's so creepy! I hope you don't get any more visits from him. Put up a Beware of Dog sign, maybe that'll help. Hope you hear from your daughter and can relax sometime today.
                  Hey diwitch...I was thinking yesterday that there seem to be a few of the usuals missing from here~~glad you're just busy and not off the wagon!
                  And Perfect10...I would give anything to say I was going to the west of Ireland for the weekend! I've never been to Ireland but have many friends who have and their pictures were just stunning. You're lucky to be in such a beautiful place. You won't cheat...this journey means too much to you, doesn't it?

                  It's nice when you come here early enough to say hi to everyone one at a time! I wish I could every morning, but life doesn't work like that. Not unless I got up every morning at 5:00 but that isn't going to happen!

                    Mornin Sheepie and Jess! Go for your walk Sheepie...I'm going for a long one today too.

                    I love ketosis too Jess. What a good mom you are! I love running. Am planning on starting again now that my back is doing so much better. Bought the shoes, printed off the plan from Cool Running, so I start tomorrow! I'm excited!!

                      Good Morning Everyone.. I was the lazy one this morning.. I had such a sinus headache last night that I took two benadryl at 9 and went to bed at 9:30 and didn't wake up until 7... The last 4 nights I havn't gone to bed before 12(which is very late for me) and get up at 6... My head feels a little better...But my ears are so stopped up.. I hate that feeling.. So I am popping my sinus drugs..lol

                      My daughter and I are going to head to Water Country today..its a nice warm day..its usually not crowded because its a public school day.. I always feel so much better with some color on my skin.. (I always wear sunblock)

                      I made a meatloaf last night that was Legal and my family loved it

                      Terry...I think that is a great idea about rereading the book again.. I haven't read through it in a while either...

                      The Perfect 10... Yay on taking a little trip this weekend..and Great Job on NOT planning on cheating.. You can still have a nice time and do things right

                      HopeJoy..How Scary on the prowler..I would be afraid to sleep.. Isn't it funny how your husband could.. I am assuming your daughter is an adult.. I would tell her she needs to just give you a call if she isn't coming in.. Cause I think no matter how old they are you still worry.. My son is 17 and will be 18 in December.. We have been treating him like an adult more and more.. Well on Friday's and Saturday's he usually spends the night at a friends house.. I mean I know where he is in and I ususally know what he is doing but he will call and say MOM...I am spending the night at so and so's house..

                      Sassilee....YAY on the weightloss.. Isn't that a nice feeling to wake up too.. My scale has been on 268 for 3 days but I am THRILLED.. Cause its in the 260's..and hasn't gone back up to the 270's..like I was afraid it would do...lol

                      I am worried about Scooter... I hope nothing has happened..he hasn't been on for a week... I have been waiting to hear if he liked my broccoli salad...

                      Jess...Great job with going back to induction and helping your daughter...

                        Good morning everyone!! I'm feeling positive and happy as well! I went to bed early last night and got a great nights sleep and today I'm ready to get this house all cleaned up so we can spend all weekend having fun with the kids and not worry about cleaning.

                        I'm wondering about Scooter too, where IS HE?

                        I've gotten my water in the last two days, right now that is what I am concentrating on. I eat more salt on this WOE than I do while eating carby foods, so it's more important that ever now to flush it out......plus I feel so much better when I drink it all. Going to buy a cucumber today to try putting that in my water!

                          I have reason to believe that he's not dead or injured which is why I am coming up with crazy reasons for his absence. Hopefully he'll come back and defend himself against my crazy accusations.

                            Morning, the scale says 1 lb down, hope it lasts. Have to go out of town next week Tues thru Friday. At least am going alone so won't be having to eat around where someone else wants. San Antonio should be fun. Can stop at a grocery and put stuff in the little frig. Just might not have internet (no laptop) cyas tonight

                              Good morning, everyone! I'm in for re-reading Dr. Atkins. I've been re-reading particular chapters now...no particular order,though. I hope everyone has a wonderful day!
                              ps..you know it's funny how some people don't understand this WOE. When I did Atkins the first time successfully, I went to my doctor for a physical. He was blown away with my blood pressure, lab work, EKG, etc. He said whatever I was doing-KEEP DOING IT! Since then, I've ignored the "naysayers"! This WOE works!
