  • Tuesday Morning Roll Call

    Good Morning STACer's,

    It looks to be another beautiful day here in the Shenandoah Valley, a bit foggy this morning but that will be gone soon.

    I am happy to say the scales are finally moving for me. I haven't changed what I have been eating but how I have been eating. I have a huge breakfast (mostly protein), a medium lunch and then for dinner a huge bowl of veggies (with cheese and butter of course ) and a tiny bit 2 to 4 ounces, of protein with the veggies and it seems to be working for me. I even had a low carb tortilla burrito for lunch the other day and it didn't seem to hurt anything. But it was one yummy burrito, I love mexican food and I have been missing that more than anything.

    Hope everyone has a great, legal, low carb day planned. Planning is everything!

    hi there - glad to hear those scales are moving for you!
    Just checking in - day 9, and so far so good - won't weigh in until next monday now - just 5 more days of induction....!

      You beat me here this morning Di... I read my 73 emails that I had first.. YAY on the scale moving... Last night when we were at friends.. I had taken Hamburgers and Broccoli for a cookout.. Took fries for them also... Well everyone had a craving for Ice Cream... I told them they were all cruel..lol I said I better get a whooshie in the morning... Sure enough I did 1 more pound gone..lol

      I have really been wanting some chinese food.. But I have no clue what to eat... I hate having to request my food to be cooked differently too..

        Actually Sandy alot of Chinese food is fine, just tell them no MSG (that stuff gives me headaches anyway) and either no cornstarch in the sauce or tell them you want the sauce on the side. And no rice of course!

        Stuff like pepper steak (hold the sauce and rice), moo goo gai pan (hold the sauce and rice), mongolian beef (same), etc... Most of your chinese dishes are just basically stir fried meat and veggies.

        Or even better...make your own stir fry. Simplicity itself....just throw some meat/seafood in a hot skillet with some peanut oil and minced garlic, cook approx 3 minutes. Add whatever veggies you have on hand, mushrooms, onion (careful on the carbs there, lol), zucchini, peppers, broccoli etc. Cook about 3 more minutes and viola...stir fry. Maybe shake a tiny bit of soy sauce on if you like it, I don't but the dh does.

        Of course your veggies choices are unlimited, the ones above are just what I usually use.

          Hi Di, carbaholic and Sandy. Great news Di on the scales moving. I'm wondering should I start doing the same with dinner - more veggies - less protein for that mean?
          Sandy there is no stopping you now - another whoosie! Fantastic results that you really deserve.
          Carbaholic - not long to go now. You are great keeping away from those scales. I did the same too.

          For me, having a good morning so far. Muffin for brekkie and a cup of tea. Have started my water intake already and am going for a salad of rocket for lunch. With some tuna or cheese or maybe both!

          Tried to buy some fresh horseradish yesterday for the Hamburger whoosie pie I found in the recipe section. I could not get some anywhere here in Dublin! I hate it when I see something on the board and then we don't have it here!

            Prepared horseradish might work (haven't seen the recipe) as long as it is the kind with horseradish, vinegar and salt as the only ingredients. I love that stuff myself. If you find fresh horseradish and have never used it before, be careful that stuff is pungent. If I am doing large quanties I either do it outside or where a mask, lol.

              Good work on the losses! I couldn't find any nice sirloin steaks so I bought a whole beef tenderloin on sale! Dh cut it up and froze part of it using my new Food Saver, so we'll have 5-6 meals of filet mignon for $33.00! I think it was great deal. I was really good all weekend, until yesterday when I over-indulged on almonds and wine! Of all the things to have!

              Okay, I think it's time for Scooter to come back. He had his week alone in the space station or wherever he was, but I think any longer and he runs the risk of losing his way, and besides I miss his posts. So, come on back Scooter. Even if you've spent the past week eating chocolate cake and drinking Coke, we still want you back here!

                I have decided that I can't eat almonds.. Because I eat to much.. I don't do bad with Sunflower Seeds in a salad though..

                  Good morning, all! Glad everyone is doing well! Congrats Di and Sandy on the weight gone!

                  Today is my official restart of induction. I took the cue from Jess and decided to get back into ketosis. I was really slacking on water and veggies. Too much stress, too. Want to get that really great feeling back!

                  I ordered the Slim in 6 DVDs on eBay. Found a really great deal from someone who is moving and needs to get rid of stuff. I can't wait for them to get in so I can start!

                  I'm preparing for my stressful day. I've been dreading this day. I'm hoping it goes well! Have a difficult meeting with a parent planned. Wish me luck!

                      Sandy, I'm the same way. I could, and almost did, eat the whole tin of almonds, but sunflower seeds on a salad are fine.

                      The long weekend is over. Time for everyone to come back and post. Not just Scooter. I usually go to church on Sundays whether I feel like it or not. When I wake up and I'm still really tired, I ask myself, "Will it do me more good sleep in and stay home or to go?" I know it does me more good to go. Same here. Doesn't it do so much more good for you (and others) to participate? Wake up. Shake off the sleep and get going!! Okay, that's about as peppy as I get! LOL!

                        Good Luck Cheri, I hope the meeting isn't as bad as you are anticipating!

                        YAY on the losses everyone!

                        I am doing good on my water intake, and am going to attempt to up it today. It always seems to help when I stick to the water drinking faithfully.

                        On nuts, cashews and salted peanuts get me. I cannot seem to control myself when I eat those. I measure them out, but eat them really fast and want more. Walnuts, almonds, pecans and other unsalted nuts I can eat rationally and without wanting more.

                        For me, my focus this week is going to be planning my menus. I have stopped doing that the last couple of weeks and find that I'm getting to that dangerous territory where I get hungry and don't have a meal planned. That is always the warning light for me, if I'm hungry, look out! So I need to get back to planning my day out so I know exactly what to fix when I'm ready to eat.

                          Oh good morning everybody. I can't believe it, but I slept til 8am. Maybe this is good and healing for me. I have not been able to sleep well after a certain point since my Mom died. I was use to grabbing naps in between here and there during the 24 hour cycles...and in the end I think we just rested here and there during the last 72 hrs. So, it's been a long time coming that I could stay in bed past 3:30-4:00. But today! 8am
                          Well this is day 6 of re-induction and ketosis. I felt waves of desire and triggers that I valliantly ignored, realizing I would be trapped right back IN THE CONSTANT DEMAND FOOD PUTS ON YOU WHEN YOU ARE OUT OF KETOSIS. I've dealt with that demand, ALOT in the last month and gave right into it!, as I just loosened up in my zombie state...NO MORE! I am feeling my stomach is a bit flatter, but the biggest thing is I am not as hungry any more.
                          My extreme bike ride threw me way off with food...If you exercise in some extreme way, like run 5 miles or 10 miles and it's a big step, your body is often seeking fuel afterwards, because you have used so much of your self up....Most of the runners here, like Adena and Juli who have tackled the bigger distances, end up battling hunger all afternoon on.... WIth that big ride, I did too, and i fought off giant food desires! Ate small little snacks, some salmon and then some nuts (my one modified 5g for the day)... Things calmed down. Whew...
                          DD and I are off for a 4 mile run shortly....I am sure that will challenge my legs after yesterday! Hope all is well with everybody today! KETOSIS ROCKS
