    Good morning STACers.. i was just over in journal chats. Booklady writes, "I finally know this is not a diet, this is how I have to eat"...she goes on to share how great she is feeling and how long she has worked to stay on Atkins this time around...
    She feels good because of the food choices she is making. The foods she eats puts her in ketosis. Ketosis causes us to burn our fat for fuel, and the by products are energy, diminished appetite and reduced cravings.

    I am one of those people who is deeply impacted by the foods I eat! I mean it. If I eat Atkins, I thrive and feel great in my body. Just ask Dragonflymoon if she is feeling good, no wait if she is feeling great again. She remarks in her journal at being amazed at how well she feels again on Atkins...

    I would venture to say this is exactly what Dr. Atkins invisioned when He wrote the book, and made is bold promises....all of which are attainable to the average eater and once free of the grip of carbs, we too can live and enjoy good foods and have the energies promised...
    He invisioned a lifestyle, and writes about dealing with our addictiveness and breaking free to this new place with foods and freedom.

    I for one will continue to read and pursue this way of life, because it's given me the best feelings in the world...It's assisted me in getting back a higher quality of life! This higher quality of life was so unattainable before I gave up the carbs....now I thrive!

    Good Morning Everyone.. Busy day for me.. I will be gone all day.. My daughter and her boyfriend talked me into going to the movies at 9:30 last night.. I am not a night owl.. We saw Oceans 13..It was okay except that I was falling asleep...lol

    The hard part though.. The kids got Ice Cream before we went in.. That is one thing I am having a really hard time with.. I love Ice Cream on a nice Summer night...

    I know where I am eating for lunch...and at the graduation party I am going to tonight I know what I am having there.. I am bringing Broccoli Salad for me and probably will have a hotdog (I rarely eat them anymore)

      Good morning, Everyone! I am up earlier than I usually would be on a Sunday. I need to do some shopping and pack up my cat and chihuahua. They are going to Grandma and Grandpa's house while we are on vacation. Matthew and I are driving there tonight to watch the series finale of The Sopranos and are gonna leave the small animals there. My Saint Bernard will go to the vet on Thursday, right before we leave.

      Today is my weigh in day. The scales are moving very slowly anymore. I don't know if that is just a natural slow down or if it is because I have been not quite as strict with my food choices. I have been having artificial sweeteners a lot more regularly. I also slacked off on exercise for most of the last week. I was hoping I would be in the 140's by the time I left for vacation, but it doesn't look like that is going to be in the cards... Oh well. My shorts fit and my dress fits and I don't feel as self conscious in summer outfits anymore, so I guess that is what I will try to focus on.

      Well, better hop in the shower and get to the store. Since we are driving from Iowa to South Carolina and back (...eventually...) I am getting lots of legal snacks for the car. Beef jerky, string cheese, nuts. Matthew usually snacks on Little Debbies, but this year he said that he only wants things I can eat. Good guy...

        Good morning, everyone. We are going to a breakfast buffet - yum! Lots of legal foods! Then, it is a day to relax! Probably spend some time in the pool.

          annRN - giggle...I had to laugh a little when I heard you have a chihuahua and a st. bernard...now thats one extreme to the next! I love it . My eldest daughter has the sweetest little chihuahua and 3 cats...well what can I say...we are huge animal lovers.

            Great message, Jess!

            I'm not sure if Dr. A wanted us to become snobs with our way of eating, but I think I'm slowly becoming a LowCarb snob myself. Although, I'm trying despeartly not to share it outloud with people around me (except my own kids), I'm finding I'm spending more time watching what and how other people eat and think...man, that was me just 2 months ago when I fell off the wagon. I watch what other put in the shopping carts, what they snatch off the tables at BBQs...what's next? Will I hunt people down and check out the personal and private refridgerator??

            I wonder if there therapy for things like this?

            We're going to cookout #2 today after church. I'm taking my own lunch with me just incase.

              Apple--LOL! I do that too! I'm a CarbSnob and a Shopping Cart Detective. In your journal you talked about guessing what eating plans people were on by the contents of their shopping carts--I do that too! It's scary to think, when I see a shopping cart full of frozen pizzas, chips, cookies, and pop pass me by, that *I* used to buy that junk. That was me.

              Well I've got a cold or the flu or something. I woke up with everything clogged and congested and sore and on fire. I'm chugging water and supplements like there's no tomorrow. Today is a rest day for me. Got to recuperate so I can hit the gym hard this week!

              Great post Jess, I REALLY liked it and agree with it. I feel like I'm finally LIVING and HEALTHY, thanks to the foods I eat. I am taking care of my body for once, and being a snob about what goes in it. For once, I don't mind being called a snob!

                Good morning, all.

                Because the recovery from surgeries isn't allowing me to eat Atkins way, I'm stuck taking in more carbs than I want to and eating things I would rather avoid. Especially with grape juice. It's hard to find and accept a "happy medium" (I'm not happy about this at all) but my stomach is better after a few rough days of feeling just sick. I still haven't done much for exercise and want to attempt a walk and bike ride today. We'll see.

                Was planning on going for the bike ride pretty quick here but suddenly tired. So I guess it's a nap instead. *sigh*

                Make the most of your good health, folks! Never never NEVER take it for granted! Get all you can out of your meals and workouts every single day!

                    Morning STACers ~ Happy Sunday to you all! Great thoughts, Jess ~ and OH YEAH DO I FEEL GREAT AGAIN!!! It always amazes me. I am on day 7 of re-induction and the sugar is out of my system. I really like Booklady's quote; that really resonates with me. I am a sugar addict and that is something i will have to live with forever. So sugar free is the way it has to be. That was lame. But oh well...

                        Sandy way to go on the no ice cream! There is a recipe for vanilla ice cream you can make even if you have no ice cream machine, that looks DELICIUOS and i can't wait to try when i am on dairy rung!

                            Hey, Everybody

                            Just got back from Whole Foods and they had no jicama. Boo-hoo! That's one of the things I eat daily for the carbs and the fiber. So, I am going to cook some spaghetti squash... haven't had that in a while.

                            Sunday is weigh day. Didn't expect much since I have been in a pattern of loosing 2 pounds a week for a couple of weeks, then 1 or none for 2 weeks, then 2 again. I lost 2 pounds each on the last 2 weeks, so I expected 1 or 0. Three pounds gone for this week! Yay!

                              Good afternoon to all of you! I'm day 8 on strict induction and ten pounds down. I'm feeling awesome! I've got that metallic taste in my mouth to let me know I'm back into ketoses. Great job on the no icecream Sandy. Sorry to hear your under the weather julirama, hope your feeling better soon! Today I'm getting more plants in the garden and working ouside in the yard. It's a beautiful day in the Great Northwest U.S.A.! It's been raining the last couple of days, but sunny today.
