  • I never wanted to be in this club!!

But, I am.... I wish I would have just stayed on the first time! LOL

I started Atkins about two years ago and stayed on for a a good 15 months or so. I lost 80 pounds! It felt so good to be down 3 pants sizes and 2 shirt sizes!! But then life happened!

After being on plan for about 9 months I got a job working in downstate Illinois. Without going into huge details, I made the trip from Chicago to downstate every monday morning at about 5 AM and came back home to my wife and kids on Friday evenings. Everything was going fine for a few months as I was staying with a cousin in his "college" apartment. Trust me, you didnt want to walk around barefoot in there.. But I was able to cook for myself and everything was fine.

After July of last year his lease was up and I resorted to staying in hotels 4 nights a week. I really really really tried my hardest to stick with it. It took til this past December and putting back on abot 20-30 pounds before I just gave up all together.

So, here I am, two years later back at the same 330 pounds I started at. I still stay in hotels all week and most of my days are filled with driving, driving and more driving. I average 1000-1500 miles a week and I'm not even a truck driver.

I'm not sure how I am going to do it this time around, especially doing Induction on the road! But, I gotta get this fat off of me! I feel like crud again.

So, Hi everyone! Nice to meet you all.........

Hey, there are a lot of worse clubs that you could belong to!!! Scooter's right. This is a pretty cool place!

Aren't hotels expensive? Couldn't you rent some small place for less? I don't know. Can you get one of those little cooler/fridge things that plug in the car and also in the hotel room? Then you could keep healthy food right there with you.

Welcome and check out our daily check in posts!

Welcome back to the club First of all.. Are you staying in Hotels that have little fridges and Microwaves? Could you cook somethings on the weekends and carry it with you on the weekdays... You could make a Quiche or Egg Muffins for breakfast... Pickup a Salad at a Fast food place for Lunch and then have something for dinner out of your cooler.. You can do it...You will just have to plan ahead You could stop at a Walmart and get a Roasted Chicken.... They make these great bags of Microwave Frozen Veggies.. You just throw the bag in the microwave and its ready...

Welcome back to this woe! With all the support here, I have no doubts that you are successful again with this woe and wol. I have three words for you since you travel so much. Plan, Plan, Plan! Take a cooler with you and pack it full of legal food. I love my little cooler for inside my cab that I plug into my cig lighter. Keeps things handy and cold for on the road. Also I've seen one that heats meals for you too that is plugged in the same way. I know of a truck driver that lost 100lbs. doing this woe in just this way. On long trips I pack a bigger cooler full of legal goodies and makes this woe so convenient in this lifestyle! Best of health to you Jobu1977! Post often to let us know how you're doing.

Hi Joe and welcome back to Atkins. You have already proven that you have what it takes to adopt this WOE. We all fall and we all go through some hard times. The main thing is that you are here now and ready to jump in with both feet. Planning is the biggest obstacle you have to get over, I learned that after having fallen a couple times myself. Hope to see you around on the boards and make sure you come in and do the roll call everyday, even if it is just to say "Hi, I'm here!"

Hi Joe, I too am on this for the second time. I lost 30 or so pounds my first time and had I stuck to it I would be the weight I want to be. We all know we should stick to this woe but its not hard to slip up. I am learning that positive thinking and just knowing I can do this is helping me. You can really do this. Just always think positive thoughts. And if you need a chat friend or a buddy I am here we are close with goals.

Re: I never wanted to be in this club!!

Thanks everyone for your support! I really appreciate that!! And I knew I would get it before I even came back to the boards. Its what makes this place and the people who come here so great!!

To answer a few questions, Yes, getting a place down here would be ideal but for now my work pays for most of my hotels (its a long story). So, it doesnt cost me a dime usually. Sometimes, I have a room with a microwave and a fridge, sometimes I dont. The problem is the area I cover is about 4 hours wide by 4 hours long. Most days I dont know what city I will be ending my day in. Im not in the same place every day.

The electric cooler is a good idea, but if I have to go some place to work for any extended period of time, the cooler would sit in my car in the summer heat and anything inside of it would be a gonner. Same thing for a small cooler full of ice. I did that last summer and there were more then a few times that I had to toss things out just because it got hot. It is very possible for me to be stuck somewhere for 4 to 8 hours. But I do my best.

This week so far I have been going to the Super Walmart almost nightly. I've polished off some good lunch meat and celery. I checked the roasted chicken, but it has some sort of citrus seasoning on it!!! To me, Citrus seasoning = sugar! I do have to take a look for microwave veggies tho, havent seen that before.

Breakfasts have been fine. This week the hotel I am in has hard boiled eggs in the morning, along with the buffet of garbage.

For lunch I have been getting fast food salads.. It so annoying! Why cant someone just make a chicken caesar salad without putting all sorts of other junk in it!! GAH! LOL!

I would have been a bit more prepared this week, but going back on plan was a semi-spur of the moment thing. I debated it for weeks. I have my 5 year anniversary comming up and a trip to New Orleans. Not to mention, a big birthday party this weekend. I wonder how I'll make it thro all that..... But, I look in the mirror and I hate what I have become again. I was so proud of myself and then I let myself down. Oh well, I'll figure it out.. I did before.

                    Thanks all!!

Re: I never wanted to be in this club!!

Walmart's roasted chickens come in different flavors. One is lemon pepper. I always thought lemon pepper was fine for chicken or veggies? But their BBQ has a smokey flavor, and Mojo has anybody's best guess flavor. I can't even describe that one. Its best to ask at your Walmart about when the chicken will be available too cause then you have a choice of flavors, not just whatever is left. I have learned to love tuna and mayo. Do those mayo packs need to be cooled? I have learned to love sardines, and any kind of canned meat with out carbs. I can also eat green beans, or anything legal strait out of the can. If your car gets nice and warm.... ? I think those cheese hotdogs are okay but I can't remember. If you type in a search engine the name of a fast food chain and the word calories, you usually find a menu that also has the carbs listed. I messed up this time by not looking before I went to eat somewhere, so I get to do Induction from the beginning again. I don't worry so much about being perfect, or doing any diet perfect. The thing for me is to keep trying, because I lost 30lbs and gained it all back when I just gave up. I messed up and ate the cheese sticks, but I managed not to follow up with a couple of slices of pizza. To me, that counts for something. Don't give up!!!

I drink coffee. I drink when I am thirsty. I am just a low carber. Not on Atkins at all!!! He has everything to do with my weightloss and nothing to do with it, depending on who you ask.

Hey!! I found the Veggies!!! Actually, I had to go to a kroger to get them. It was a great dinner! A bag of the Cauliflour and Broccoli mixed with a 1/2 pound oven roasted chicken from the deli. I topped it off with a little hot sauce and I was in all my low carb glory! Wasnt bad for a 7 carb meal!

                              @RitaCeleste
You know I asked if they had any normal roasted chicken, without all the junk on it and the woman told me that the one with seasoning was all they had. The thing that put me off from it was it said 1 carb per serving. Well, I dunno about the rest of you, but I cant take the chicken home and not eat the whole thing! So that would have been 8 carbs, none of which are comming from veggies. Krorger did have plain non seasoned chicken, but they didnt have any more hot ones and said they werent making any more! #$%^&*!

And the canned meats is a great idea! Those were a staple food for me the first time around. I just cant eat tuna without some mayo and the mayo will spoil. I think there's a website where you can order individual packs of condiments. I might have to do that with the mayo....

And I agree with you on not being a perfect dieter. I dont think you have to be perfect either. I wasnt perfect my first time around. Although I didnt cheat, not once. Until I decided, in my head, that I was stopping, I didnt cheat. Even then it took effort for a while to put the wrong things in my mouth. I cant believe I stopped to begin with.
