Morning STAC, hope everyone is well.
Today is my 1 yr anniversary. I remember reading the post of someone who had that anniversary, early in my days here on ADBB. I have to tell you the thought of being here was such a big thought that I marveled at it. It made me stop and pull back. I was so into carb grams, water ounces, mileage or time exercising. Statistics were a buzz every moment in my life there. I lived by a clock that rang at 5am, so I could get up and participate in this make over of mine...Then the post celebrating an anniversary, it made me stop and LOOK AT THE BIG PICTURE.
I was turning 50 in march. I had picked it as one of my days, "I want to be here on" I picked 4 dates to shoot for, for the year....the last one of this year is TODAY. I met it. My big goal was to be here, if I was here, chances were very high I would be participating in this way of life, and if I was doing that chances were very high my weight would be under control and down. My eating would be under control and my energy would be up. I would have confidence and my self esteem would be up too. I figured if I was here in a year, all the extra stuff would be there too.
Today its been a whole year, and I am here, I am able to wear my size 6 pants and I will put them on, and I will put on a pair of pants I wore last summer...I will post pictures today in my journal....
My one piece of advice, LIFESYLE...take your changes all the way to that point, create a sustainable lifestyle. If you can't exercise 3 hours a day, only 30 mins. Do 30 mins and thrive. If you can't drink 100 oz of water a day because of your job, do 64. If you can't get up any earlier to exercise, build it into your evenings...Create something you can keep up with, and keep going...Avoid extremes.
DON'T THROW IT AWAY, it's very hard to regain control, NO PLANNED CHEATING, you might not make it back. It's a slippery slope.
It's like sobriety, hard earned. Ketosis is hard earned. Don't treat it casually...it's not that it can't be retained, it's just very hard to put those carbs back down and go through detox all over again. Honor what you've got! Don't be casual with it.
Pick dates over the course of the year to hit, take small steps towards the big goals...My dates were day 100, New Years, my 50th birthday, and today, August 1st... I hit all of those days, active on Atkins and participating on these boards.
Take your new life and live it, make a difference in your world!
