This picture was me, last fall...probably Oct. because I've got on long pants here....working out very seriously every morning at 6:30. I had a dream to change my life, and I worked at it, every single day...

Here is the day I met Adena, at 6:30 at the park in early Nov. it was 27 degrees out..She was running, training for a half marathon. The next week I started running, but up til then I still rode the bike because it was non weight baring and I was sooo over weight. I had a dream to be active and make a new way of living...

Here i am yesterday, trying on my gear for my triathalon....seeing if I liked the two piece suit thingy...I don't I am going back to my tight tank suit....
getting use to the swim cap too....uck.
I have a dream to be a person who take on challenges and uses them to stay motivated, and focused.

Here was a ride in June, on my brand new bike...I've just put over 350miles on it....as of yesterday...more to come.

This winter my dream is to train in the multisport events, keep my weight even, and prepare for another triathalon this spring. By the end of the summer, if all goes well I'd like to do the nx level of triathalon with is a race doubling this one...

My dreams keep me alive, my vision of mysel and my near future are things we need to spend time on, they refresh us, challenge us and often make us move....When you get your activity back, use it! Enjoy life!

WOW Jess.....You made me cry. You are just a wonderful person, and the way you work at trying to keep us motivated is a beautiful thing.
Now I'm going to do my excercises for the day, and love every minute of it...and then smile the rest of the day!

Good morning, fellow STACers. A bit drug out this morning, didn't sleep well. But I'll make it, always do. I managed to stay on track all the holiday weekend. Even made it to the gym on Monday at my regular time. Just because I was off work didn't mean I could miss my exercise session! And those 5 pounds the scales found Friday were gone this morning. Go figger...that's why I hate scales...they fluctuate too much. I haven't done any measuring (too lazy to do that much work) but I do know I'm loosing because my clothes say so.

Well, gotta get back to work. My day, like many of yours, starts early.
          Drink more water!

Re: Roll Call 9/4 LIVE LIFE

              Good morning, y'all!

Today I'm up at the crack o' dawn because it's the first day of school, and I have to be there early to meet the buses, open the classroom windows, etc.

First thing I noticed is that, of course, I have no desire to eat first thing in the a.m. and it's going to be a "chocking down the fried eggs" scenario in the car. I wish there was something more portable that I could tolerate in the a.m., but so far, no ideas. Maybe on other rungs of OWL. Anyway, it's not a huge obstacle - just a tiny impediment to step easily over.

Got lunches packed, including my own - lots of small servings of yummy, appropriate things. I tend to work thru lunch and nosh throughout the day, but I think I'm going to see about stretching or walking during some lunches, though frankly it's about 103 outside these days and I can't think about walking at that temp.

Jess, your photos and your constant posting of anecdotes about how you have come this far are truly inspirational. Every time I catch sight of myself in my running gear, looking huge and lumpy, I remind myself that this is where YOU started, and look at you now. And when I'm running, and I have the rhythm, and all is well, I realize how far I have come myself. It's a good thing.

              Have a lovely day, everyone!

Good Morning, back from Vacation. WoW that was GREAT. I wish I could play outdoors here the way I can play in WYO. My allergies just kick my hiney. Had a lot of fun, saw a LOT of wildlife, even snuck up (sort of) on a mommy Moose and her twins. Stayed on track, have goofed up somewhere because I am hungry this morning. Will hit ind. for a couple of days that will fix that. Missed you guys.
*SAndy get the peanut butter crackers out of your car* its just too much temptation to have that sort of thing in the car, too closed of space you can't walk away. Load it up with water bottles.

Good morning! I love stories that come with pictures! Thanks for sharing - it is certainly a motivation to all of us to stick to it!

This weekend was wonderful to have off - but I also ate off here and there things I shouldn't have, especially since I had spent 9 days 100% cheat free and was TOTALLY seeing the results.

I just have a difficult time staying with ANY healthy lifestyle when I'm stressed. I make excuses why a little bit, or part of a day won't hurt. I guess identifying and admitting I have a hard time with "comfort food", is 1/2 the battle.

Well, at least I haven't decided to completely drop off the bandwagon. I've already made the decision this is the life for me, and since today is a new day, I'm back on it. I can't change the past, but I can change the future.

Thanks Jess for sharing your pictures and dreams with us all.

Day off from exercise for me. Just taking it easy today...staying legal on the food, drinkin ALL my water and taking my vitamins and supplements. Last day to weigh in before the no weigh challenge. So, I'm sure I'll weigh myself more than usual...hehehe...gotta get it all in for the next week.

Re: Roll Call 9/4 LIVE LIFE

                        Greetings, Fellow STACer's

Today I offer you a quote from Clint Eastwood:

"Respect your efforts, respect yourself. Self-respect leads to self-discipline. When you have both firmly under your belt, that's real power."

Jess, you are a perfect example of this power. Your journey is an inspiration to all of us, and I thank you for sharing it.

Hey, Bootie - Have you noticed how close our stats are? I am almost 5' 3" and I started at 215. My goal weight is 130, like yours. It is possible to achieve our goals! Nice job on the exercise this morning.

Heidi, I am still not to the point where I love exercise yet. But, I have realized that is is critical to my success and it sounds like you know it, too. Let's just keep on keeping on... we're doing great!

Sandy! Turning down those peanut butter crackers in the car is a major victory. Good for you, girl... it would have been so easy to just eat them, and yet you didn't. Try to carry that momentum throughout the day. I know that it is cliche to say this, but the journey of a 1000 miles starts with a single step, and you have taken it. Keep it going!

Bykerdruid - the scale can be mean sometimes. While I do take my measurements every couple of months, I can get as crazy with those numbers as I do the scale numbers. So, I use my clothes as my indicator of weight loss... it's the best way for me.

Mandi, how exciting for you to have a day off, the kid at school, and be free to exercise! LOL... while Lynsey enjoys being with her kids all day (bless you, Lynsey), I will be the first one to say that I am doing cartwheels of joy when mine goes back after summer vacation.

Evermind, you are such an asset to this board and am very grateful that you are here.

Speedy, we missed you. It's good to have you back.

Michigander, what you wrote reminds me of one of my favorite affirmations that I use... "No one can go back and start a new beginining, but anyone can start today and make a new ending." Go get 'em, girl!

Kathy, enjoy your day. I know that you have been working your butt off, so you've earned a rest. Are you going to miss your scale during the no weigh challenge?

Let's all have a fine Atkins day, all!

Watch us participate in the Veggie Challenge!

                        7th Semi Annual Veggie Challenge

                        Mitzi

~One day at a time. Realistically. Gradually. Consciously. FINALLY!

                              Hi Everyone!
Jess, I love seeing the photos and your progress over the year. You really have reworked your life, haven't you? You're such an inspiration.

Still no liquid sweetner. Still no pumpkin treat a la Mitzi.

Twice this weekend I went in-line skating at the park. It's been years since I've done it and last time my feet and back hurt almost immediately. This time it felt GREAT!!! It was so much fun. I really had to push myself too because I was following my 6yr old on a bike and if you know 6yr old boys, you know there is nothing faster! They should harness that energy!

                              Have a great day everyone.
