    Re: Thurs 9/13 Roll Call

Good morning! Well, we received the part for the water filter, so now I have my yummy filtered water again and my sweetner! Unfortunately, I'm out of lemon juice and pumpkin. I'll have to find a way to get my ds to school, run by the grocery store, and make it to work on time. Actually, getting to work on time probably won't happen. I'm the only one coming to work this morning, and it will be slow, so I can probably be a few minutes late. Then I will make MUP at work!! Mitzi has created a monster!

It was cold last night. Really cold. Had to get up and put on fleece pants (that had never fit before!) and go back to bed. I think summer is over! That's not a bad thing. Walking and rollerblading are so nice in the cool, Fall weather. Love it!

    Have a great day everyone!

      Re: Thurs 9/13 Roll Call

Hey I got my new water filter yesterday also, how funny.

What's new??? well i've been playing with cauliflower a lot...i made it into rice with chicken, quite good it was...
Pumpkin is new for me, but i think that is making me break out, so i need to hault that for a few weeks until i know.
My MIL's BF made cauliflower salad, instead of pot salad and it was a hit.
I finally found greek yogurt at Publix and mixed it with blueberries and walnuts and i love it. (warning not induction food).

Hope everyone has a great Thursday...thanks for starting the thread Jess.

        Re: Thurs 9/13 Roll Call

I'm here this morning, but kind of hitting that 5th week doldrum. Everything I make tastes the same and has no texture (at least according to my family, lol). The weightloss has slowed to a crawl the last week. My pool is too cold to go swimming (got to put a pool heater at the top of my must have list next spring), the water is still too low for any river running, and I need to find a new passion that I will enjoy doing when the weather turns bluck. Other than that, I'm doing great Have a good day all!

          Re: Thurs 9/13 Roll Call

          Good Morning, Fellow STACer's

What a yucky day outside... Hurricane Humberto is coming ashore on the Louisiana/Texas border, putting my part of the world on the "rain side" of the storm. It's going to be yucky for a few days, so I am so glad that I have recently added Tae Bo to my exercises. There won't be any walking or bike riding outdoors for a few days, but I can sweat my a$$ off inside with Mr. Billy Blanks (love that guy!).

Sheepie, I'm jealous that you have felt some relief in the weather! I, too, can't wait for fall. I feel bad for those of you who have to deal with snow in the winter... but for me, who is still living with humid as h*ll mid 90's daily, it can't come too soon. I'm glad that you're enjoying the MUP. I think that it has been a lifesaver for me this time around. It's become a staple for me.

Michelle, I hope that it isn't the MUP that's causing your break out. It is entirely possible, though. On a happier note, I'm glad that you found the greek yogurt. Isn't it totally awesome?

Lynsey, hang in there. I promise you that if you do, those doldrums will go away. I find that the doldrums come and go at times during this journey, but if we continue on the straight and narrow, they do go away and we continue to feel better and better. I hope that you do find a new exercise passion. I sincerely know that for me, I have to really like the exercise to do it consistently. I had to go through a butt-load of different kinds of DVD's before I finally found something I could stand doing indoors. I finally did, and acutally liking doing it rather than making myself do it has made all of the difference. One of my favorite and most effective forms of exercise has been a routine of floor exercises that I put together myself and do on a mat on the living room floor while watching TV. I knock out 300 crunches and lots of ab, butt, and leg work almost daily this way.

Jess - About new stuff in DANDR - yep, I've been re-reading the chapter on Pre-Maintenance. This starts when you are 5 to 10 pounds from your goal weight. It's really quite a different concept to wrap my head around than I have been used to. For example, consider this excerpt:

"If you have been racing along the road to your destination, now is the time to put on the brakes. Much as it is tempting to say, 'I can banish these last pounds in a few weeks now that I know how to do Atkins,' I strongly advise you to do something that seems quite the opposite on Pre-Maintenance, the all-important third phase of Atkins. As you advance toward Lifetime Maintenance, my advice is to proceed so slowly that your weight loss is amost imperceptible. I know that this snail's pace can be excruciating when the end is in sight. But remember, getting to your goal weight is not your ultimate goal; your real goal is to maintain that magic number indefinitely."

Put on the brakes?! Wow, that is soooo out of my mentality... I have been driven by trying to lose as steadily as possible for a long time. I am committed to doing Atkins by the book this time around, so I am planning to officially enter Pre-Maintenance when I am 5 pounds from goal. I am 10 pounds away from my current goal. And it is very likely that I will lower my goal weight again. (I've already moved it from 140 to 135, then from 135 to 130) When I get to 135, I will re-evaluate and see if it looks like I will need to lower it to 125. Whatever goal weight I end up with, the time for Pre-Maintenance is near and I am trying to prepare mentally. I never thought that I would say this, but I almost would rather continue in "weight loss" mode rather than not... weird.

Whatever phase each of us is in, I'm wishing us all a very successful Atkins day.

Good Morning STAC'ers- here is some sunshine for ya

I can relate- It is starting to get dark and cool here. The rain has been nonstop since Monday night.

New vegis.... I had Egg Plant Parmesian (sp?) last weekend- I found a new love. I bought some more egg plants and plan on using it again soon. I also bought a head of cauliflower because it was only $0.99 (usually about $ 3-4). I am not sure what I will make with it. I was craving potato soup so I might try that.

I stopped in at my hair place yesterday so I could schedule an appointment and they squeezed me in. Sooo I got my hair done- fresh color and a trim- I once again have sexy hair LOL....

            Have a Super Day

              Re: Thurs 9/13 Roll Call

Michelle, yea on the water filter. I know I sound like a salesman but I really love mine.

Lynsey, how about broccoli salad for some crunch? Yum!

Mitzi, if eating pumpkin got you in the 140's, I'm there! You already weigh less than my goal. I have trouble imagine being ready to slow down and stop. I'm sure that it does take some mental preparation, so it's good that you're planning early.

Julie, I just got my hair done too. In our family, we call haircuts and/or coloring, "attitude adjustments." It's true though. You just feel so much better when you get your hair done. I love eggplant, but I'm usually too lazy to make parmesan. Usually I just slice it and brush it with olive oil and have dh grill it until it's nice and soft. I used to slice it, coat it with mayo, dip it in low carb crumbs and bake it, but the low carb store closed and I don't have any crumbs.

                  Hello STACers ,

It's been crazy for the last a couple of days. I spent the day with my husband in the hospital, he fractured is knee and pulled a hamstring. I'm sooooo exaushted! I call bearly stand, but I managed to stay cheat free (whoooHooo ). Today is my 10th day of induction. I wasn't able to get much water in yesterday, but I'm at work and trying to catch up whatever I missed in the passed couple of days. I prepared my lunch and ate breakfast this morning.
                  Everyone have a great day.
                  ~ Chris

                    Re: Thurs 9/13 Roll Call

Good Morning everyone!!!!!!! I am enjoying a very relaxing day at home today with nothing I really have to do but the normal household daily stuff. I am making a commitment to start trying some of the recipies I am reading about on here. Everything sounds so good and I tend to get stuck in the very basics of food preparations. I think I am going to commit to trying two new recipies a week at least!

So tell me everyone whats your absolutely favorite induction friendly recipie??????? I can't wait to hear everyone's votes and use them to give me a boost to trying new things!!!!!!!

Winter is creeping in on us too and I need to invest in some good workout dvd's to keep the excercise going so if you want to share your fav's in that area I am looking for that information as well!

Jess I pick up my DANDR book at least once a day! I feel lost with out it. I read something new or something that speaks to me almost everytime I pick it up. Maybe someday I'll have it memorized! LOL

Sheepie I'm glad the delivery fairy has finally smiled down on you! Yeah!!!!!! Post a pic of your new attitude!!!!!!

Blazing you always mention great things you make with cauliflower, and they all sound so good to me I am going to try the rice thing with my chicken tonight! Thanks for the idea!

Lynsey I can so relate to the doldrum thing ths the request for fav recepies this morning! Hang in there we will get through it together!!!!! And I know it's probably as simple as it sounds but what is river running??????

Mitzi hugs on the rain .. ugh! I hope it doesn't last to long! I think when I reach my goal I will do like you are and readjust my goal! I'm sure I will. Just reading the words "Put on the breaks" brings a shudder of fear in me!!!!!

Julie Yeah on taking the time for a new haircut! I bet it feels wonderful! You'll have to post a pic and show it off!

Hopejoy have a wonderful time with your family reunion!!!!!!!

Harlem OUCH!!!!!! fast healing wishes and prayers are coming your way for hubby! Yeah for you sticking to your induction thats awesome!!!!!!!!!

Ok I better scoot and get back to doing nothing! LOL Actually I need to go pick up my son from preschool shortly!

                    Have a wonderful day everyone!!!!!!!!

                              Good Afternoon All,

Well my new stuff. I started working with my personal trainer today. We did chest and triceps. I forgot how much they really push you. I went to sams after my cool down and could hardly lift a case of water. I really want to push and enjoy this month with him, cause I don't think I'll be able to afford him after.

Heidi, I came up with a twist on Linda's quiche.
I took 3 large chicken breasts, and boiled them covered at a low temp for about 35 min.(basically shreddable, but not overcooked), then shredded all of that. I cut up some broccoli, a half a small pepper diced, 3 green onions thinly sliced. Cooked the veggies, just to soften a little. Then with an equal amount of butter and olive oil (2 tbsp. of each.) sauteed the chicken and 3 tbsp. of parmesean cheese, until it was browned. Mixed it all together with 8 oz of shredded cheddar. Used that as a the filling, then used the rest of Linda's recipe of the eggs, mayo, and heavy cream. I was wicked good.

                              Have A Great, motivated day.
