Re: Friday morning roll call 10/12

Morning everyone. It's a chilly morning here, 45 degrees when I drove the kids to school--brrr. I just wanted to snuggle up under my covers!

It's been a busy couple of days here for me getting ready for the last push in our holiday. The next few days you guys might not see me on much as there will be much visiting and passage of FOOD to be done.

I'm still holding steady in weight. I've been doing well also--staying away from the dates, lol, getting in all my water and veggies, etc. We'll see how things go in the next few days. I'm hoping that if nothing else I don't gain.

    Have a great Friday!!

Good Morning STAC'ers- Great Topic this am.

I have heard the best gift you can give your family is to take car of your self.

At any rate this year I have been tryign to take care of myself. Full physical, Mamogram etc. I know I am healthy. I just need to get down my weight. However in my quest to doing so I discovered how awful I was feeling from eating all the crap that they call food. Think of how many people are missing out on feeling good all the time- eating all the crap they call food.......

I call my sister all the time we are very close but live about 3000 miles apart. Every single time I call her she starts out her conversation with I am not feeling good. I am tired..... And I tell her every time that she should look at the Atkins diet. She says she will, but never does........ Maybe I will send her a copy of the book for Chrstmas?

Sandy- you are just rocking along- congrats!

Evermind I hope you get to feeling better quickly.

      Meena- Have a great weekend!

Dimple- I hope you don't get sick with the flue. Take care of you baby.

OKAY guys have a great day!

      Julie

Morning all. The scale reported another pound down and then 30 seconds later reported no movement at all. i think i will say no loss this morning but no gain. Feelin physically good right now, but PMS is kicking in so a lil on the grouchy side. Trying to come up with a menu for this weekend because it is going to be quite busy with football and babyshower and a party too. Along with all the weekend chores that never end. This thread is great as i know i need to take better care of myself and hopefully simply taking the time to plan my meals for this weekend ahead of time will help bring things back into balance. Wishing you all the best cheat free weekend ever!

(If it's my second time around, but I have not joined in on the club, can I still say hi? )

I think that this board is the right place to be if you want to take better care of yourself. I think it's sort of designed to help people into a better place. There's support for everything from standard "eating better" tips, to emotional boosts and genuine friendships. Good idea for a thread today, especially its being a rainy, grey day (at least here in New England).

Evermind - drink extra extra water (not that we don't already drink a ton). Helps flush eveything out.

So glad it's Friday! This week went by really fast..

Bought a new scale yesterday and I'm down another pound which makes me super motivated to not cheat this weekend! I have to start getting things done around the house, I live with 3 'college' guys and they're driving me crazy with messes! I cant seem to keep anything clean so hopefully I can start this weekend since one went out of town..

I too need to start thinking about myself before others, maybe I'll go to the spa this weekend and have a day to myself!

            Have a good weekend everyone!

Hello everyone, It seems as if I am getting sick this morning. I have a sore throat and general malais. Darned if I don't have to work overtime tomorrow. I will keep this short so I don't contaminate anyone.

Re: Friday morning roll call 10/12

Morning all, hope everyone has a great day and weekend!! I hear you on the taking care of everyone else before myself and being too nice saying yes when I feel like saying no... I have dealt with these issues my whole life!! I am a very giving person and I have a genuine heart. I have been taken advantage of quite often in the past however I have been much better with these issues the past year or two. We have to take care of ourselves first and foremost so we can take care of our children. We have to be healthy in mind especially to better take care of ourselves and our children.

Even though it is difficult at times to say no to others requests, if you cannot do something or just plain don't want to, say no. If you feel you must give a short explanation, then do that in a strong but polite manner. I used to worry so much about saying no that I ended up saying yes and being really upset with myself and the other person. I have really worked on this. I used to just hate to think that someone was upset with me for saying no to something. Now I firmly say no I have other plans with a sweet smile and it's OK. It's all in the response you give, if someone gets upset with you, oh well they will get over it and shame on them, right? No one is gonna take care of me BUT ME! This is my body and my life. Once you really realize that, you will be able to be strong and take care of yourself as well as your family.

I also always used to blame my weight on that I just kind of let myself go, I would think ya I am a single parent doing it all on my own. I don't have time to exersise. I don't have time to pay attention to my appearance as much as I used to. I don't have time to make me happy and work on myself because I am so wrapped up in my kids. It's so untrue. I have learned that the happier I am, the better parent I am. Happier mom = happier kids!! I am so happy that I have learned how to take care of myself as well as my kids and the rest of life and the problems that arise. If you constantly say yes to others requests, you will be taken advantage of and become very bitter.

Re: Friday morning roll call 10/12

Hi everyone....I know I'm new but I've read so much I feel like I've been here forever and I know everyone's struggles and successes!

I just wanted to pop in and say hi...I generally feel like poo. My oldest has been sick with the flu since Tuesday and guess who woke up with aches? Yup - me. But since today is payday and commission...I had to be here to cut checks or they'd lynch me.

I'm queen of taking care of everyone and everything before I take care of me....a prime example of how I gained weight. I even have a book to help me!

Anyway...I just wanted to add my agreement to all that's been said and wish everyone a wonderful weekend!
